We love this venue and really are hesitant about writing this review but we unfortunately were really disappointed with the menu it just felt very bland and not very exciting I’m afraid. It really does need some life pumped into it.
We could not fault the staff or their helpfulness in any way. Please don’t take this review as a criticism but just want to encourage a different menu please. I just wouldn’t recommend this restaurant atm. Not forever I hope as I love the venue and the Sunday Carvery is fab!!!

Food is great. The venue can be very busy and noisy. The service is a hit and miss. Sometimes it’s very good but sometimes they forget to take your order or bring your request like a glass of water. It would be great to see consistency of great customer service. It’s still a nice pub restaurant.

Staff here are excellent. We arrived early for our meal to find the chef Tony and front of house, Lara ,checking on our many allergies, which i had put on the reservation.
They could not have been more helpful.
As we were early we were seated in the bar but socially distanced. Good, freshly cooked food.

I didn't feel it was made clear what food was available and how to pay. The drinks app wouldn't work on our phones so we had to wait ages at the bar for a drink, we then went to order BBQ food to be told it was cash only and we could get cash by waiting at the outside bar that we had just queued at for 20 minutes. The drinks selection here was limited but I didn't want to go and queue inside after waiting so long. We ended up with a small soggy roast served from the carvery outside, again a long queue, we could have ordered food from the inside bar but we wasn't aware of this until we had been in the queue for ages. Not a pleasant experience and unlikely to return.

Love this pub and very covid friendly. My only complaint was queuing at bar for drinks and carvery. Should have had more staff working. Apart from that it was lovely . Carvery outside very very good!!!

The app wasn’t working, took 45 minutes to get a drink. Had to keep going up to the a member of staff to reload the app on their computer. Time the food come it’s was pitch black outside. I know this is a good pub usually, but their standards dropped. If the app isn’t working probably, just take orders the old fashioned way. And get some more staff!

Very friendly pub with excellent food. We went with our family who are varied in age from children up to parents in their 80s and all were comfortable and enjoyed the experience. All the staff are friendly and happy to help.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch, food & service were brilliant, especially in these circumstances. The Burger & Seabass were delicious. We got to try their new pizzas, which were very good. Lovely, friendly staff.

We love this restaurant and use it often. It’s just a shame that noisy children are in the same room as the adults or that the adults with the child don’t control them. The waiting staff were brilliant especially the tiny little girl that looked after us. Well done all round keep up the good work in these tough times.

Anniversary dinner. Service was very slow, we waited 20 mins for 2nd drinks order to be taken. Maybe due to lower staff numbers as the servers were very nice. Food was partly cold and not nearly as good as previous to lockdown. Although open for a reduced menu and number of customers there was little atmosphere and we didn’t enjoy the evening a much as we have before there. Would think twice about returning.

Food was very nice. The only reason I would give 4 out of 5 is because the Sea Bass meal (very tasty) but was very small portion, presented on a tiny soup-like plate. We're not big eaters but we were both still very hungry. However, the rest of the family had the Sunday Roast and these were really good. We wished, we'd gone for the roast! We also thought it was quite pricey and slightly disappointed that they was not included in the Eat Out Help Out!!

Booked a 5pm table with only garden available. Got there and told it was hot dog and burger on bbq or carvery. Couldn’t have anything from the restaurant inside. I mention of this on open table when booking. BBQ closed at 5:30 but again wasn’t told until it was closing. Carvery had run out of meat apart from lamb by the time I went. My son has a sesame allergy and they couldn’t provide anything other than boiled potatoes which he liked. All chips, sausages, fish fingers, nuggets, fish were all cooked in oil which may have had sesame.

Service was well timed, lovely atmosphere and as always very friendly staff. The 24 hour roast lamb literally melts in the mouth, as to does the minted lamb & potato pie. Both dishes absolutely superb, please keep on the menu, these dishes will prove to be very popular if not already !

Very disappointed that when we arrived normal menu was suspended due to it being a bank holiday. We had checked menu on line to ensure it could cater for food allergies of one of our party but nowhere did it mention that only BBQ and Carvery would be available and not normal menu.
What is the point of having a web site with menu listed if this can be cancelled in it’s entirety with no warning?

Prawn cocktail ok
Main course. Pie potatoes vegetables
Very very good. Beautifully cooked and presented. First class gravy and vegetables.
Unable to manage a dessert.
Our first visit . All of us very happy with our meals and service.
Would we visit again. YES.
Down side....as a non drinker the beer i bought for my companions seemed expensive. I'm probably just out of touch with the price of alcohol these days

In respect to the current situation, the staff were highly organised. We were met by a very friendly welcome and guided to our table.
Spacing in the restaurant, meant at no point did we feel crowded or uncomfortable. There are plenty of signs which guide customers on the one way system.
This highly organised system was reflected in the prompt and attentive service and delivery of the meals.
The food was first class and excellent value for money.
We are part of the extremely vulnerable group and venturing out is still a challenge for us. If like us, this is a major factor of choice, then this restaurant has all the right boxes ticked.

We booked this restaurant because in the past it has offered a good choice of gluten free food. Unfortunately this time there was very little choice apparently due to staffing levels because of the coronavirus.
Also we had looked on google to make sure this restaurant was taking part in the eat out scheme and as it was we made the booking. On being presented with the bill we were told by the manager that the restaurant was NOT taking part in the scheme therefore there would be no discount. I showed him on my phone where it said that they were and he apologised for that but did not allow us the discount. Apparently they had applied to take part but had been turned down. Obviously they forgot to tell google. Having said all that the food was quite nice only £10 each more than we had expected to pay.
