We really love this place but the last few times we’ve visited it’s been rushed and the food quality hasn’t been its best!

On Saturday I visited with a friend and I have the roast chicken and potatoes.. I had the smallest piece of chicken and about 15 potatoes. I wouldn’t say this was well worth the money I paid for it.

I would recommend to friends though as usually the atmosphere etc is brilliant.

We were disappointed with the food. It was not as good as our last visit. The staff were very pleasant and the pub has a nice ambience.

I think they were short staffed as I’ve been before but this time I was disappointed. Had to wait 40 minutes for our starters which were bread and oils. The main I ordered was chicken breast but actually came up as a leg. A shame because usually it’s excellent.

Lovely location, really friendly staff, the food let the place down on this occasion as the steak was over cooked and the filled pasta was bland (have been before and the food has been much better.)

Everyone else’s food was very good. My steak, however, was the only gluten free option and was very over priced, particularly as it was very fatty. Also, it said gf next to it but it was only when I asked that I was told that the chips weren’t gluten free - what would have happened if I hadn’t asked?

Went to The Fighting Cocks for my annual meet up and meal with my brother who lives 60 miles away. Starters wete delicious but what a let down with the main meal. My brother had ordered the home made pie which when it eventually arrived was no bigger than a popular brand cheese triangle and was completely tasteless. When asked if our meal was ok we did complain and afyer being offered a dessert or a drink which we declined we were told 50% would be deducted from the meal. When the bill arrived ( we had ordered from the seniors meal, 2 courses for £ 9.95) the actual meal price had been broken down and 50% was taken off of the price of the pie only, yes they actually charged us for the veg which were not as sdbertised anyway. I live in the village but will mot be visiting this pub again. Such a shame that our annual meet was spoilt

It was the first time we visited after new people took over the pub although they have the King and Queen at East Malling which is very pleasant.. I know it was a quiet day but the atmosphere seemed flat and the pub had been decorated white which did not seem to produce any atmosphere. I hope in time it will change. The food was fine.

Took my mum for lunch, asked for an olives and bread starter which wasn't on the Christmas menu but was provided without problem. Fantastic cottage pie off the specials menu. Great location, will be returning.

Big change since change of ownership. Menu for starters poor and service not at all what it use to be and did not attempt to resolve our complaint just gave a fabricated story.

We have been to the Fighting Cocks many times in the past and enjoyed it. On this occasion we waited a long while to be served in the pub area for drinks whilst there was no one in attendance. When we got to the table there were lots of items no longer available on the menu, when we were served the chips were hard and we were unable to eat them. We did mention it to the waiting staff who apologised but there was no offer of replacing or refunding. The service was very slow even though the restaurant was not particularly busy and there was no atmosphere. I had fish and chips and did not enjoy it at all. We will not be going back.

Reception awkward with common name confusion as regards booking, had to prove booking before matter resolved 13.30 as opposed 15.00. Venue was very busy, pressure to order. Reasonably quick delivery of main course and desert, but main course was tepid. Had to ask for coffee and was told we would now have to hurry as the table was booked for another sitting. Have dined here in the past and organised large gathering. Feel standards have fallen.

The food was lovely, as was the setting. Service wasn't so great as we had to ask for menus, and they then got our food order slightly wrong. All was rectified promptly though.

My favourite place for Sunday lunch. The best roast dinner in Kent. In the summer I had a ploughman’s lunch in the garden. Again the best one I have ever had. Love their food.

We were very disappointed with our meals. My husband had the pie it was very baked up and luke warm the peas were cold he thinks that was down to the fact the plates were cold. Overall the plates were not very appetising to look at. The sweets were okay. we have been to the Fighting Cock many time the last time was in July since then it seems to have gone down hill. It will be sometime before we return unless we get some reports from friends that it has improved.

I had a chicken burger, the chicken do seems to be frozen before, it was good portion but didn’t taste of anything, super bland. It must be frozen for a long time. I really didn’t enjoy it even if it was 2 for 1. I am also not happy with the onion ring that we ordered separately, it taste nothing! A real shame that food went downhill. The ambiance is just fair as it wasn’t busy at all. Good service but not excellent as the bar man doesn’t get our order as he was chatting with a gentleman on the bar. I have to stand to get his attention that we are ready to order after waiting for 15 mins. Good wine, as we ordered our favourite red.

food wasn't particularly hot and the chicken was dry but skin was pale, which wasnt appetising. Fish and chips tasted nice but fish was put on top of the chips, making them soggy. Fish batter was greasy like it had been cooked in oil not hot enough. Beer was flat and smelled of dirty pipes.

The conservatory is a lovely place to eat although it was very quiet on a Monday eve. Service was fast and the waitress attentive. My hubby and I had chicken burger in crispy cornflake crumb which unfortunately was completely tasteless and unseasoned. The chips were soft and pretty boring. Choosing ice cream for dessert, we found the presentation pretty poor with not even a wafer!
The rest of the family had curries which they said were tasty. The presentation of there’s was good.
We won’t be visiting the Fighting Cocks again thank you.

We went on Sunday & had a wonderful Sunday roast with friends. The service was really good & all the staff were very friendly. The restaurant has just had a lick of paint & is looking good & very bright. Other than a really noisy cackling diner on the table next to us (which of course was not the fault of the restaurant), our time at the restaurant was really enjoyable & relaxing. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Have been on several occasions & have never been disappointed.
