The food was nice, average, nothing special. The Service was terrible, we had two staff serving us, we was only a table of four. Between them they forgot our drinks order THREE times, clearly didn't communicate and interrupted us while we were in conversation. It was embarrassingly, we had taken friends there as a thank you for their support over a member of our family dying and quite frankly I wished we hadn't.

Food not good.
Seafood Linguine really dry, pineape cheesecake, not pineapple, rubber and tasteless.

All tho the people where very nice there was no atmosphere and the pre menu was a bit bland not much to choose from for a unfortunate fussy wives , but they need to create a atmosphere then I think they will have a good pub again , always difficult for new management

We are regular dinners for lunch and we are sorry to say since changing hands it seems to have gone downhill . Staff are friendly but there was only one waitress for the whole of the conservatory we queried waiting time as we arrived at 12.30 and received our main meal at approx 2.40 . Senior meal is still good value but choices of mains have been decreased. Why oh way has coffee machine been replaced one coffee was sent back because of grouts and tea wasn’t much better hopefully new owners will get themselves sorted as it would be such a shame for pub to lose its good reputation

Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday but as usual the food & service was spot on and I could not fault the evening. Only negative was that it seems to have had a slap of paint to modernize it but I preferred the previous decor which gave the Bar area a more rustic / cosy ambience but now its a not too bright for me but I will not stop me visiting again - well worth the 45 minute drive.

No atmosphere, some music would have been nice, restaurant very quiet, but still sat at the side where staff walked in and out, would have been nice to have been in the actual restaurant, not what felt like a walkway especially as not busy! Food ok, the service was however excellent.

Food was good, apart from the homemade lamb pie, the meat was quite fatty and the pastry at the bottom pretty soggy. Apple and cinnamon crumble for dessert superb. Staff as usual efficient and pleasant. Very good value for midweek lunch.

This is a nice looking restaurant with friendly staff but the food badly let it down on this occasion. My friend chose the Rosemary and Garlic chicken which apparently tasted of nothing other than chicken and was served in a very watery gravy. I chose ham, egg and chips meal but unfortunately the egg was half raw. Not at all cooked on the top. The waiting staff offered to take it back to the kitchen to change it or flip it over, which I opted for even though I’d already removed the uncooked white.
Not the best meal I’ve had I’m afraid but the food has usually been better than this to be fair.

Have been here in the past and always had a good meal. It did change hands a couple of years ago and things were not so good as was commented on by other people. A friend said they had been rd engly and it was good. So booked for a Sunday lunch birthday meal at the end of January and everything was delightful no complaints at all. The staff were very helpful too. Will go again.

I would not recommend on our last experience. We decided to take the grandparents out for their 65 wedding anniversary as a special occasion. Unfortunately it wasn’t very special
1) they ran out of beef, vanilla ice cream and sticky toffee pudding
2) they got 2/6 orders wrong
3) they added something else to our bill which we didn’t order
4) they brought my husband a desert with chocolate in it even tho we said beforehand he was allergic. So we refused it
5) staff were inattentive and unapologetic. 3/4 our our plates were cleared and then we had to wait 15 mins for the rest to be taken and to be shown the desert bill.

Having been before on saturday night, I was looking forward to having Sunday lunch as a birthday treat with the family. We had a table for 5.
I was really disappointed. Firstly it took a while to take the order and then be told there was no beef left! A staple of a Sunday roast! When we were served the food was cold and no one came round to check if everything was ok.
We also asked for a jug of water for the table and never got it.
Found that it was very noisy in the conservatory but there were other large groups and really couldn't hear ourselves speak.
We were then informed there was no sticky toffee pudding or vanilla ice cream
To he honest, the service and availability of food let what is a lovely place down. I hope that they take note of the comments for the future.
We were offered money off when we paid the bill, but really it shouldn't have come to that.

I have had many meals at the fighting cocks. I have always been satisfied however on the 25th January my meal was very tasty the same cannot be said for my partner who had the beef burger. It seemed slightly undercooked and it was in a brioche bun. It would be nice to have the choice as not everyone likes brioche buns. The noise level wasn't good although I understand there isn't much you can do about that. Overall I would still eat there but probably lunch time.

A very disappointing and extremely overpriced meal.
The chicken with garlic was dry and not freshly cooked. The £16.50 'chicken schnitzel' was also dry; a tasteless, breaded chicken fillet (a la Birds Eye but less tasty) with a slice of ham and melted cheese on top. Nice chips!
The 'seasonal vegetables' were an overcooked mixture of reheated carrots, courgette, peas and cabbage.
A very limited of range of uninspiring desserts completed a totally underwhelming visit.
The only positive point was that the waitress was very pleasant and helpful.

We really love this place but the last few times we’ve visited it’s been rushed and the food quality hasn’t been its best!

On Saturday I visited with a friend and I have the roast chicken and potatoes.. I had the smallest piece of chicken and about 15 potatoes. I wouldn’t say this was well worth the money I paid for it.

I would recommend to friends though as usually the atmosphere etc is brilliant.

I think they were short staffed as I’ve been before but this time I was disappointed. Had to wait 40 minutes for our starters which were bread and oils. The main I ordered was chicken breast but actually came up as a leg. A shame because usually it’s excellent.

Everyone else’s food was very good. My steak, however, was the only gluten free option and was very over priced, particularly as it was very fatty. Also, it said gf next to it but it was only when I asked that I was told that the chips weren’t gluten free - what would have happened if I hadn’t asked?

Went to The Fighting Cocks for my annual meet up and meal with my brother who lives 60 miles away. Starters wete delicious but what a let down with the main meal. My brother had ordered the home made pie which when it eventually arrived was no bigger than a popular brand cheese triangle and was completely tasteless. When asked if our meal was ok we did complain and afyer being offered a dessert or a drink which we declined we were told 50% would be deducted from the meal. When the bill arrived ( we had ordered from the seniors meal, 2 courses for £ 9.95) the actual meal price had been broken down and 50% was taken off of the price of the pie only, yes they actually charged us for the veg which were not as sdbertised anyway. I live in the village but will mot be visiting this pub again. Such a shame that our annual meet was spoilt

It was the first time we visited after new people took over the pub although they have the King and Queen at East Malling which is very pleasant.. I know it was a quiet day but the atmosphere seemed flat and the pub had been decorated white which did not seem to produce any atmosphere. I hope in time it will change. The food was fine.
