We had not been here for a couple of years until Saturday night and I have to say that sadly before we went out to dinner here, we had mixed feelings, as we had been many times before and had some good meals and some not so good.We had some vouchers to use on this occasion, so were a bit of a captive audience. Whilst the welcome was fine, I have to say that the service was only adequate. It felt like the staff were just going through the motions and it was all a bit of an effort. The starters, myself and my husband ordered were the scallops which were okay but didn’t taste very fresh. Our daughter and son ordered the sharing Camembert which was fine. Mains were a ribeye steak, sea bream, fish and chips and Lemon sole from the specials menu. Whilst the steak was slightly overcooked the fish and chips were fine, although the chips with all mains were under par, not very crispy. Our daughter’s fish was also fine but my Lemon sole was completely overcooked and had a woolly texture. Pudding arrived. My wife had the pavlova which was quite good. I ordered the Mille Fueille, of which the pastry should be light and flaky but was tough and so much so that a knife wouldn’t cut through it, although it tasted fine, I will add at this point that the wine we ordered was good. Finally we had a double shot espresso each and this is where we felt like putting our heads in our hands, as it was like water with a hint of coffee. That did it for us and we paid the bill and retreated back home. I am sad to say that we will not be going back, which is a shame as it’s very close to us, but after that experience, that’s it for us.
Great food, good value for money and great service
Pleasant atmosphere, good service and tasty food, well presented.
Amazing food, and fabulous service highly recommend
the main course i ordered being ribeye steak medium rare was over cooked and very chewy i could not eat it
the server said she would ask a manager
the meal was replaced my wife finished her meal then 10 mins later i had my second steak
it was slightly better but following the wait i could not eat it..
The meal was charged at full price with no offer for the inconveniance..
The bill was £99.00 I would not say it was good value
Excellent food with great choice for all palates and tastes
Poor service. Didn't feel welcoming at all. Felt like a spare part to the staff
Our whole experience was fantastic. The staff were extremely polite and attentive snd the food was incredible.
There was a fantastic atmosphere and we will definitly be returning.
We felt relatively covid safe with booking system and spacing. Outdoor covered heated are was comfortable, with good airflow. The food was good, although tagliatelle was beyond al dente. The haddock and chips was great. Some lovely desserts too. Disappointed I'd checked menu online and chosen, only to find on arrival that the online menu is very old and neither choice was as available. However there is still a good range of dished available, very reasonably priced.
Have been to Ewe & Lamb many times over quite a few years, and have never been disappointed.
Nowhere near as good as our visit a few weeks ago. We were given a table in a small alcove, close to other diners. Awful old chairs, not very comfortable. Ordered from the set menu. Brie not as good as last time, balance of cheese and apricot wasn't right. My husband enjoyed the calamari. Three of us ordered sea bream as this was so good last time, however we were served the tiniest bit of overcooked fish imaginable, with a pile of mashed potato, which was crying out for a decent sauce. Verdict on the fish and chips was that the chips were dry and powdery so they weren't eaten. Told the waitress we weren't happy with the bream and she sent the manager to speak to me. He told me that the reason the bream was good last time was because we had mistakenly been given one from the a la carte menu and they couldn't afford to serve a decent portion of fish on the set menu! He later came back to say that he had taken the cost of one main from the bill, which was fair enough. We ordered 4 coffees, which arrived barely lukewarm and the waitress slopped half of one into the saucer. Overall a disappointing experience.
Great food and value for money with friendly staff.
A friendly venue where the atmosphere is relaxed yet efficient. Food was excellent. I would recommend to others.
Needed a night out and decided to take my wife for a meal at the Ewe and Lamb, service was good and the meal we both had was cooked to perfection.
Would I recommend it? A big Yes.
Excellent food for the price.
We always love the Ewe & Lamb
Disappointed no roast meals left at 5.00 pm
Great food, service and ambience. Would have liked roast lamb as a choice for sunday lunch though. Definitely recommend.
Excellent food and really enjoyable will definitely recommend to others
Great venue, menu and food meet expectations, indoor and outdoor space comfortable with pleasant staff. What’s not to like!!
Had a lovely meal and it was a great price also. Was lovely sitting outside in the marquee.
The place seems to have gone down in quality since coming out of lock down they have replaced the garden furniture which looks like it came out of a skip and the food was not up to their normal standard which was a shame hopefully it will improve
Lovely food, friendly attentive service. Not rushed, we enjoyed a lovely evening
Lovely restaurant with great food. Good service and lots of choices to suit all tastes.
Lovely day in the garden area, sunny day and great food.
Had a lovely lunch from the set menu. Excellent value for money and delicious food. Service was great too
The gazebo was lovely. Provided shelter from the sun or inclement weather but still giving that outdoor feel. The owners have made every effort to make it comfortable with a lovely ambiance.
Very pleasant experience will be returning very soon
Clare and her team are just brilliant, every time we go. Hardworking, accommodating, professional and friendly. Everything here is spot on. Can’t recommend enough. Thanks, once again
Took a friend for lunch. Delicious food, friendly helpful staff and lovely atmosphere
Lovely pub with a lovely calm atmosphere. Booked for my daughter’s birthday. Service was outstanding and the food was outstanding. Very clean with beautiful decor.
Ewe and Lamb is our most frequently visited venue for a pub lunch.
It never disappoints
Had a really lovely meal along with a great service. Will be back.
Service was friendly and fairly quick, considering that they were relatively busy. The food was excellent and the tables clean and comfortable. It was a little warm inside, although it was an exceptionally hot day - air conditioning would have been very welcome.
Nice atmosphere and still observing COVID-19 advice. God food. Will eat there again.
Hottest day of the year some sort of climate control would greatly improve the comfort factor. Service was excellent.
Only issue was that all meals were excessive which reflects the price, unfortunately 3 adults found it too much and left around a good third of the meal or the equivalent of around £6.00 per person.
It would be beneficial in my opinion that a smaller size meal was available at a lower price
For this reason only we are unlikely to visit again
Just a very pleasant Sunday morning brunch with friends.
Generous plates of food. Butcher’s block sharing platter was the highlight. Mains were good: fish and chips - lovely batter and tender fish, cod special had a little too much oil with the accompanying sides. Service was great until the end when it suddenly got very busy, but not a big problem.
The service was really good and we enjoyed the food but thought the menu choices were more autumnal than summery.
When we arrived the booking was not on the system after offering a table 2 hours wait we where give a table only to find out it was doggy corner we where not told terrible service's
Excellent food, service and very enjoyable experience.
