The Duke of Sussex
Situated in the heart of Chiswick with easy transport links from Turnham Green and Chiswick Park, this imposing Victorian corner site is the perfect pub to drink, dine, relax and enjoy.
An extensive wine list and a menu serving the best in seasonal British & Spanish tapas, all cooked fresh on site by our in house team makes for a great outing, day or night.
Children also welcome. Dogs welcome in the bar area & garden
Great experience. Friendly, attentive and professional bar staff and great food.
A great menu with plenty of choice. I had a delicious Pork dish! Seem a little understaffed so service slightly on the slow side!
Lovely Spanish food served in a relaxed atmosphere by friendly waiting staff - what more could you ask for on a Friday night?
I managed to get a table for 4 in the bar at short notice for Sunday lunch. The bar area is lovely and light, with big windows and with a good atmosphere. The menu was good and the food arrived promptly. Unfortunately the experience was tarnished slightly by being ignored in the corner of the bar. Our plates were not collected and I had to go looking for a member of staff to order deserts and then to pay.
Good food and great service as usual. Definitely recommend it.
The service quality was poor
The menu is not sufficient
The Taste of foods are moderate
Everything about the Duke of Sussex was very good except that it was very noisy. The starters and mains we had were delicious and very well cooked. The staff were friendly and worked very hard to look after everyone.
Excellent food, drinks and atmosphere. Real Spanish tapas food. Would happily go again.
Always nice to go to the Duke. The Spanish tones make it different and the cooking is perfect.
Thank you again to Nicola and Aggie for your fantastic service and friendly welcome. Once again we had a fantastic evening.
Caroline and Brendan
Swift smiley service and class tasty food.
This has to be one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had - everything tasted great and the portions were generous.
Lovely dinner at the Duke of Sussex with family. The staff were very accommodating: after realising that the bar was far too noisy for our meal the staff managed to find us a table in the quieter restaurant section of the pub. Fantastic food, generous portions.
Great food swiftly delivered. Harassed and over busy staff and it showed. No time for friendly service. Great location but very noisy.
A firm favourite with me this place never disappoints. The Spanish tapas and main dishes like paella are easily the best on the menu, but everything here is good. It doesn’t feel overpriced either which make good vfm.
Service is attentive but not pushy.
I don't understand why Michelin lists this restaurant. The cooking is very average, the bread Is stale.
The Pan Am is a disgrace. A soggy mess.
Very interesting menu. Good service & drinks. A very lovley meal in fabulous atmosphere.
It took a long time for our order to be taken, which was quite simple 2 x fish & chips and 2 x paella.
It took some time for the food to arrive and the 2 Paella were vegetarian, we had made it quite clear we want the fish, prawns, chicken, so they were sent back.
The 2 people who had ordered fish & chips had finished eating before the Paella arrived.
I've had Paella at the D of S before, and Wednesday's was not up to standard and very dry.
An adjustment to the bill was made, but we would have much preferred a good meal, together, at the full price.
Hopefully, better next time.
One of the party was Pinot Grigot John who was treating his friend.
Very lively, very friendly pub but as usual, far too noisy; there's nothing to absorb the noise. Nevertheless, good menu and very friendly and efficient service.
Busy Wednesday night but they had very little staff to handle the demand. Only two serving the crowd and people were chasing them around to get their food orders in. Arrived 7:30pm, first entree arrived 8:45 and main meals around 10pm. Great location but they really need a shake up to provide a reasonable service.
Very friendly team and delicious food...!!
great and friendly staff, average food, good location and nice big garden
Great tapas & spot! Will be coming back for sure - 5 🌟!
Great pub if a bit pricey- food hit and miss and expensive for what it is
I had the goats cheese salad which I’ve had many times but it always seem like they make a big vat of it so look of it is not great as the beet stains the cheese making it look brown. Still tastes ok but it’s a bit lazy
Chaotic service. Food very mediocre. Poor quality.
never dissapointed with the food and service. Great spanish cuisine.
very good tapas and main courses.
My wife and I have frequented the D of S over the past 10 years or more. Like many restaurants that are built up successfully and then sold off to a chain, I'm afraid to report that the standards have gone South. The menu remains as it always was, interesting Spanish, Tapas style dishes, but the delivery from the kitchen is simply inadequate. As part of the Met Pubs group now, perhaps the original passion for the proposition, and front of house delivery has inevitably dissipated but based on this visit I will not be returning any time soon.
Staff seemed more interested in chatting and joking between themselves than attending to us. My goats cheese, beetroot, hazelnut salad, a dish that I have eaten there many times before was 90% grated beetroot and was clearly created by someone who has no appreciation for food. The veg paellas ordered by my wife and daughter (again a stock menu item) were dry and tasted acrid.
As an aside the music was 20% too loud and subjectively, not well matched to the offer. (heavy beats, too loud and very un-Spanish.)
The garden and dining room are delightful but such a lovely venue really deserves better - namely some love and attention. Perhaps the MPC should stick to burgers, pies and the usual pub fayre as at the moment the Spanish menu is proving to be a challenge too far.
A real shame but not entirely a surprise. What a shame that independent restaurants are so few and far between these days.
lovely venue - good food and drink and friendly service
Great food & service. Disappointed they wouldn’t/couldn’t turn on the outdoor has heater as it was a very cold Sunday afternoon however we chose to be out side as we had young children with us. Would also be great if the apppearance of the courtyard/garden was improved.
Tapas is good for sharing with decent size portions.
I have been going to the Sussex for many years and always enjoyed the food and had an enjoyable experience, until last year that is.
I had 2 poor Xmas meals, one included churros and chocolate as dessert which was inedible. We were told they were bought in frozen. This time we were told they are made fresh in the restaurant and then frozen, I'm afraid I don't believe this.
I was given a free meal after the last bad experience which I had on Friday. My meal was fine but my companion had a poor chorizo dish which tasted raw, a paella with hard rice and tiny, shrivelled mussels, followed by a chocolate pannacotta which turned out to be chocolate mousse.
I'm afraid I have run out of patience waiting for the Sussex to sort themselves out, I won't be returning
Excellent Sunday lunch at a good price. Nice surroundings.
As usual the food was terrific and the service incredibly good.
The roast beef in the Sunday roast was inedible. So tough that even a steak knife didn't help. Two of the 3 of us dining last Sunday had the roast beef and were extremely disappointed.
Used to really enjoy the roasts here, but its not what it used to be. Starting with the bread, they used to send out lovely crusty hunks of warm sourdough bread from the oven. We were served some stiff, dull white bread which looked to have come from a bread machine. The yorkshires were beautifully puffed up, but chewy and cold, the beef was very tough, a few more roast potatoes and a little more generosity on the gravy would help. Service was friendly and helpful from the waiting staff, but the food was very dissapointing.
I would recommend a friend for the Spainish food & not the roast as the roasts are ok but not worth the expensive price tag.
Best Sunday roast in ages! Huge Yorkshires. Good veggie options too.
Great food as always! Lovely staff! Good drinks and a good night out
Service was very slow and food was disappointing when it arrived. Even though we asked on several occasions where our food was there was no apology or recognition of the service issues. Would not recommend this restaurant
We ordered lots of plates to share and the food was excellent. Really helpful too with the allergen menu
