Service was poor, waited ages for menus for dessert! Two of the girls waiting we’re not very attentive, Shame as one seemed to know this was a problem! It’s a joke really as service charge was added! Food was over priced and the sharing Camembert was tiny, like the smallest cheese size! Not enough for two people! The £25 lamb was also disappointing as the red cabbage was burnt from reheating! Such a shame as this used to a favourite local!
Excellent food better than expected would recommend
Always a lovely place to have a nice bite to eat or drink in a beautiful setting and ambiance. Food is a little over priced by a few pounds in my honest opinion on a few dishes, it’s a shame as I would visit a lot more regularly. But food is always great and very well cooked but expected at that price. We had the special onion soup which looked like it was missing half the liquid and onions needed sweating/cooking down a bit more, again due to the price my expectations are higher. My wife had the fish special which was cook perfectly and I had the burger which had amazing flavours and a perfect char to the meat
Top notch food really good staff, very busy but still was cosey
Booked through open table and on arrival my name was on the table. Service was good and food was very good. Enjoyed our meal with friends
I’ve been here a few times and always felt pretty much the same. Foods decent enough but overpriced. Not by much but enough, what you’d be happy paying £15 for you’ll pay £18.
From this visit specifically the service wasn’t great for a table of 8, just seemed too much for them.
Also avoid the treacle and syrup sponge, nasty pre packed awfulness. And as fir the vegan custard thats hideous. How hard can it be to have dairy and non dairy custard for gods sake.
Save your money there are plenty better in the area.
Staff were lovely, very helpful but not over powering. Food came out lovely. The pub has a nice atmosphere and we had a great time
Lovely place to eat the staff are very friendly the food is great , a very nice menu, always very welcoming
First time at the cricketers really enjoyed the evening with my daughter Charlotte
Great food and nice place
Although food was tasty, was not very hot at all. Was shown to table , but waited long while for our order to be taken. I live in Meopham and have done for years, but Pub has gone downhill and too expensive, went in on Sat night as well very young children rolling around the floor then sitting on the bar at 10pm at night. Considering we paid £28 and £21.50 for two Bottles of Wine, both of which were not good think the service and prices are ridiculous, Giy serving said the £28 Bottle was cheap for round there, not everyone in Meophsm is rolling in money!
We visited for Sunday roast for the first time, it was delicious. I had the sirloin of beef, my husband had the triple roast (sirloin of beef, pork & chicken breast.) The Yorkshire puddings were huge and very crispy just how we like them. The seasonal vegetables were fresh with a different taste as the cabbage was crunchy and very flavoursome. For dessert we shared a banoffee pie we were full to the brim with enjoyable food.
We had a large glass of Malbec each too.
The Sunday roast did not disappoint we shall be going again soon.
Food was good and service ok however where we sat there was a untidy pile of high chairs and chairs next to us. Looked very untidy and spoilt the overall look of the place.
The staff are always polite and efficient, the food is always hot and the whole place has a nice feel to it.
Sunday roast very overpriced! The beef was very good thinly sliced and tender, the potatoes were okay but the Yorkshire pudding was tasteless and like eating cardboard. Not enough vegetables for two also very bland. Overall we were very disappointed we have had many lunches at the Cricketers which mainly have always been fine. Will not be returning for a roast which at 18.95 was extortionate!
Went there with the family to celebrate my wife’s birthday and our grandson’s first few weeks at Oxford University. Staff very attentive and food and drinks were very good. Would recommend.
We were sat by a door that kept opening, we did ask to be moved but this wasn’t possible. Food helping was large but not great. Menu wasn’t my cup of tea. Quite expensive for the quality of food.
Great food tentative staff great atmosphere thank you Cricketers’s
It’s a lovely pub & restaurant with great food. Unfortunately, although we booked in advance, for a birthday celebration, we were sat by the door & toilets & people kept knocking our chairs going in & out. Cold wind blowing in every time the door opened meant our food went cold quick. Our waitress was terse, bordering on rude. Normally love this place but this time round it was a bit disappointing.
Huge choice of food but not enough vegetarian choices. Desserts are over priced as is the majority of the food, but the food is good quality so you get what you pay for. Pub has a lovely atmosphere and we didn’t notice until we left but there is a table of board games for customers, nice idea. Overall a popular place to eat but don’t come thinking you will get a cheap pub meal because you won’t!
One of the best pub roast dinners we’ve ever had, it was AMAZING! It was also about £10 more expensive than the other really good ones we’ve had but was a special occasion so decided not to worry about price. Great wine, fab beer, lovely friendly and helpful staff, no wonder you’re always busy!
Wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Thanks for a great a Sunday afternoon, made all the more special by receiving a ‘Save the Date from son and his fiancé at the table!
Good Service, Food was excellent- great variety in menu.
We thought the menu was very limited and it was like a daytime menu not evening dining!
Two of our meals were heavily salted and it did spoil it.
The staff were pleasant and attentive.
Although the food was good on Sunday, unfortunately due to staffing problems the service wasn’t great. We had to wait a long time to get a table, and felt we were being ignored for a while.
When we were eventually shown to a table, it hadn’t been cleaned and had drink spilled on it.
When our meals arrived they were really good, so not such a bad outcome after all!
Lovely pub with good food and 76 different gins.... what more could you need?
Overall the food was really nice - couldn’t fault the speed of it coming out either and it tasted fresh. However the service was a little cold and the wait staff seemed more interested in giggling amongst themselves and chatting than taking our order. The restaurant swiftly became busy and the volume level was incredible. We couldn’t hear each other across the table and everyone else seemed to be shouting over one another, adding to the problem. Granted there’s little the staff can do about this though - it just spoilt the ambience.
Always have a lovely meal here. Food and atmosphere are excellent
Good food good attentive staff a great venue worth a visit
Although the service was very good I personally felt the Sunday roast was over priced. The pork we had was tough and the rest of the meal was of the same quality as a well known carvery, which we could of got for half the price. Chocolate brownie was good though
Great service. Our waitress new everything about the menu and was very well informed about allergies as my wife is a coeliac. Seems to be the same franchise as the little brown jug who were dreadful with regards to gluten free options. Could do with more gluten free deserts though- not hard to get gluten free cakes these days so don’t know why they don’t offer one.
Not many Gluten Free options, was told could have gluten free, potatoes and bread would be removed.
There were more vegan and veggie options which was a good thing as my brother and nephew are vegan.
Restaurant very loud, couldn't hear others on our table talk.
all the chairs were different around the table, not very comfortable
Beer was flat
When I booked the table, was not made aware of Octoberfest.
Lovely pub, lovely food and good service. Unfortunately the day we went they had Oktoberfest on with loud music and also football on in the main bar so it was a little noisier than expected. But overall it was a nice lunch with friends
Met up with family and had a nice quiet table (booked in advance) where we could enjoy our conversation while having a excellent lunch. Three of us had the Small Fish & Chips which was more medium in size so I am glad we didn't go for the Large version. All nicely cooked will small cut chips and musty peas. My wife had the Corned Beef Hash which she said was slightly disappointing and not quite as expected. She wouldn't be having that again so it was a shame she chose it. Didn't have any other eats - starters or sweet. The drinks were served in good time and we will be back again I am sure.
Recently went to the cricketers for the first time and must say really enjoyed it good staff always looking to help service at the bar good and the food service was pretty good as well I will definitely go back again with a few friends nearer xmas.
We had a family Birthday lunch for 8 people and paid £5.00 pp deposit. Two separate occasions missed drinks off the order. Roast Potatoes were over cooked and I believe been stood in the roasting pan for a long time. Under staffed for amount of people in the Cricketers. Remainder of the food ok and tasty but over priced for food and drink. Attention to service very limited. Once I got up from the table and spoke to relevant staff things were actioned promptly. However, would not be my first choice for the future.
Food was excellent, and arrived quickly.
Service could have been better, with a wine list given when seated at our table, and an idea of what beers where on offer.
The bottles of Gin on the window ledges look out of place and don’t really have a place in a dining room.
Staff friendly and helpful. Good drinks selection. Food took a bit of time to come but well looked after throughout.
Food was cold and not great quality also expensive for what it was....staff were very nice and friendly but overall I wasn’t impressed and will never go there again unfortunately :-(
It was great food and a lovely quaint pub with fantastic people working there. Would definitely recommend.
Service very slow - possibly the worst Gin and Tonic I have ever had - 1 ice cube and a small piece of grapefruit peel.
Beer good though to be fair.
Long wait for food and it was cold when arrived.
Shame it was cold because the roast itself was very good quality.
Waitress snippy especially when she realised I wasn’t leaving a tip!
