The Cranford Hotel Restaurant & Pub
The food was good. Pub food, but definitely high end ingredients. Bar prices were a bit steep but they had a good craft beer menu and this is the price you pay in this area. Dining room was VERY hot with the fireplace. Would come back for sure.
Cute restaurant, which have two parts: one upstairs, which is like a typically restaurant, and then downstairs, that looks like a hidden place, which it makes this part unique and charming. Good bartenders, good food, good price and good music.
Very disappointed overall. Sat us at a table when every time someone walked by they hit my chair. We asked twice to be moved to numerous other tables that were open and they refused. We should have just left at that point.... Served my son's chicken fingers uncooked. Waiter never came back to ask to refresh our drinks. We asked for well done burgers they came out rare. Never again.
Excellent service. Food was very well prepared
Good food and the bar is historic.
I used to live in the area and would drive past the Cranford Hotel on my way to my doctor’s office. I moved away before I had a chance to dine here.
As luck would have it, I was in town dealing with outstanding business and we decided to have dinner at The Cranford Hotel. We started with the nachos and cocktails. Both were great. We both opted for the cheese burger and I can honestly say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. And our server, John, was friendly and helpful. Overall, our experience was outstanding!
I've been to the Cranford Hotel many times and have generally enjoyed it. When we went this past Friday evening, they were expecting a party of 60 people in the regular upstairs dining room, so we were asked to sit downstairs. If you haven't been there, "downstairs" is a basement level that's primarily a very noisy bar -- which is fine if you're out looking to go to a very noisy bar. It was wayyyyy too noisy for dinner. Also, the food (which is typically pretty good) was only fair. When I mentioned my disappointment with my meal to the waitress, she really didn't care and didn't offer to do anything to improve my feeling about the meal. Overall, not a good experience.
Food was uninspired at best. French dip was poor, cheese burger poor. Fries very good. Service was basically good, but spotty. Had to ask for club soda several times before it arrived. Brussel sprout appetizer was very good, but probably deep fried.
Their nachos are incredible! Love the atmosphere and cocktails too!
The food was good, but everything else was not on the same level. It sounded like there was a bowling alley above us, practically the entire time. They had the fire one next to the table when it was almost 90 outside. Our server was forgetful and rarely followed up on us. All of our food came out late, our appetizers, entrees, and desert came out so late we turned it away because we were leaving.
I have been here multiple times and this is the first time it has been this bad. I am not hurrying back and will think of other places to go to instead.
Not a bad place to hang out and have a burger. The beer list was pretty good. I cannot stress this advice enough......stay away from the chips and homemade onion dip. They charge 9 dollars for it, give you around 15 chips (no exaggeration) and bowl of onion dip that you can make at home. When we asked for more chips....we were told we can have them, for 2 dollars extra. (If you do order, bring your own bag...trust me).
Food was mediocre.
From our host seating us until we left...we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Food was so good. One of us had difficulty biting into a hard roll, but never mentioned it & we never noticed until it was time to leave. Because of this, he was given a complimentary dinner to take home....on a soft roll... OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!
I think they changed their menu. It seems the prices have gone up a bit on the $$$$side. We were two for dinner, we both had a drink and ordered the fish of the day which happened to be scallops. They were delicious. We ended the evening with two cups of tea. The bill was $82.00 . I thought it was high. The dinner did not include a salad,or bread.
Delicious spinach salad with warm chicken and goat cheese. French dip sandwich was very good. Excellent service.
Haven't gotten their act together since the kitchen renovation. All I hear is how backed up the kitchen is, REALLY! But every Saturday night?
New and improved menu! Great selection of beer and stouts.
Casual, easy dining for a weekday night. It was quiet, the service was very good, and we could sit and visit as long as we wanted. The burgers and sandwiches were excellent.
My server Chelsea was excellent , made great recommendations for my entree and wine. Loved the steak and the Malbec . Great cozy atmosphere .
GREAT wings!!! Great service, very cozy ambiance!
Love the hotel . NEVER disappoints.
Great waitstaff. Brendan was great
This is our go to place often on a Saturday night . It’s casual & has great burgers !
They changed the menu recently and some of the better sandwiches are no longer available. Burgers and fries are always good as are the salads. They have a number of local beers which are good as well. Always crowded but the noise level is tolerable.
We love this place. Service was wonderful. My husband had the blue cheese burger and it was cooked just like he requested. I had the short ribs and they were amazing. There is always a great seasonal cocktail on the menu. There is something for everyone on the menu - even the kids.
Very noisy. Short staffed. Took forever to get extras-had to get up and ask the hostess for ketchup, honey mustard, etc. Couldn’t get a side salad with my chicken fingers. I have the last 20 years eating there. Soup was bland as was the chicken wings. Wish they would go back to the old menu-too many odd selections for my taste. Very disappointed!!!
Burgers and appetizers were not as good as nearby restaurants such as Stagehouse and Darby Road.
Great ambiance and food for date night. Nice view of Manhattan commuters coming home from work
Hour and a half wait for food and food came out wrong. Service STUNK.
Service drinks were good, food is good but portions have changed since my last visit and some of my favorite items were removed from the menu.
We had yet another lovely time at the hotel tonight with family from out of town. Since we were catching up we lingered linger than usual, but we never felt rushed or a bother. The new lighting added to the ambiance and the new menu items were delicious, as was the old standby salmon which is the best. Jackie our server was very helpful and professional. A true local gem.
Great dinner and service. The bartender misunderstood my drink order, but even that was efficiently taken care of, and a great meal was had by all. Loved the corner table!
Same old, cozy Cranford Hotel, with a refreshed menu. Great tap selections and an excellent burger. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees and service was great. Speed of service was also great and the restaurant was packed.
Had dinner Christmas Eve. The food was excellent from the Calamari appetizer to the burger, salmon and mussels that we ordered for dinner. Our server John and food runner Randy were terrific.
Can always count on a good meal. My wife's chicken was one of the best she's ever had.
Ate here Christmas Eve and it was just terrible. Had calamari where all I tasted was cooking oil that had not been changed for some time (you know that burnt oil taste). Lamb ragout was just as bad. Pasta was over cooked and had zero flavor. My wife hated her sandwich just as much. Skip this place. Not worth the time or money.
Normally the service is very good. However, our waiter did not come over for like 20 minutes. A table that sat after us had their waiter come over well before ours. We had to go up and ask if we even had a server. He finally came over and said he didn’t see us sitting there. Then the beer I ordered they ran out of. Usually the service is very good. However, we asked for more water and it took forever to come and had to ask multiple times. This is not the usual of what had happened when previously there.
I used to work at the Summit Bank Operations Center on Walnut Ave. The best treat was having lunch at The Hotel. Always a fun place!
I am there right now and usually the service is pretty good but tonight I am sitting there and other tables servers came over to take care of them but ours is not. I asked for more water that never came. We sat and waited for server for like 20 minutes before we had to get up and ask if we even had a server. He came over and said he didn’t see us sitting at our table. The beer I order was taking a long time to come then they told me they ran out. Plus no more water.
The Cranford Hotel is such a cool place! We sat on “the porch” and our server was so personable and nice. Great beers on tap and yummy appetizers (we got the mussels and Brussel sprouts) the goat cheese and fig sandwich was also really good. We will definitely be back!
