All I can say is Awesome!!
Food was exquisite! Wait staff gave us good reccos. The Foie Gras was Outstanding
- what a glorious mix of textures and tastes! Everyone was happy with their choices. Only downside is the tininess of the space and how youre always being bumped and jostled. But still worth it for sure
Overpriced , mediocre service no idea what the fuss about this place is for?
Had high hopes, but walked away feeling disappointed with the menu, food and value for money. Sorry.
Great experience. Staff was great , food was spot on. Over all wonderful experience. Looking forward to going back!
always an enjoyable experience at the cottage. great food and service. best restaurant around the area.
we enjoy going there with friends to have them experience it as well.
Our ultimate favorite restaurant for miles around!
It was a special dinner for my husband’s birthday. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Highly recommended for a special occasion with family and friends.
Appetizer was amazing. Entree was underwhelming and couldn’t eat it. Felt ill afterwards. Waiter seemed overstretched. Too noisy for me.
Always a delight!
Really great. Noisy and expensive, but we will be back.
Between the speedy service, friendly staff, and delicious food I highly recommend The Cottage! We sat at the Chef's Counter which was a fun experience seeing all the beautiful plates come out of the kitchen. I appreciated how relaxed and friendly the staff was despite how packed the restaurant was. It was awesome to see how seamless their service was. Each bite was uniquely decadent - I'd love to come back to try more!
Thank you for our special table in back.
Think staff were stretched. Service very slow (yet friendly )but everything else great.
Definitely going back
We had a wonderful meal!
First visit. Food and service were excellent. Cozy restaurant. Staff was very attentive and pleasant. Definitely will be back!
Amazing food and great service. Love the Cottage.
Just wonderful food. The attention to the product and the preparation and knowledgeable staff makes this a great experience. We absolutely fell in love with the Cottage. Drew was our server, and could not have done more to make us welcome.
Wonderful food; creative and delicious. Drinks were excellent as well. Only negative was the dessert. Preferring fruit to chocolate, we ordered the huckleberry tart. It was tasteless. I don't like things too sweet. This was so UN-sweet that I felt that I needed something more when finished. When I got home, I had some ice cream!
We shall return. My husband's choices were the pate and the pork belly. Mine were the crab toast and halibut. I wish there were more veggies on the side of the halibut but all was delicious. Our server was very good as well.
The food and service are consistently great at The Cottage. Staff very accommodating about describing food preparation.
Best Restaurant in Westport.
Every dish was outstanding! It was a little loud for the 4 of us, but otherwise a wonderful experience.
Some flaws of late. Menu is inventive but needs updating. Service is well intentioned but can be hit or miss.
As usual the food was excellent well prepared, excellent presentation and the staff as was fantastic
Love this place - specifically the burger is truly the best burger I've ever had. I highly recommend this place. It's small, so reservations are typically a must.
Very quiet and quaint place! The food was next level and the service was just as great. I will definitely be back for lunch or dinner since brunch was already a success!
The food never disappoints at The Cottage. Try the Wagu buns and the duck fried rice - so yummy!
Best restaurant in Westport. Great service, great food.
We have dined at Cottage many times. The service has always been excellent. The menu is creative and delicious. That's why we kept coming back. On this last dinner though, the roast pork and the halibut were both overcooked. The foie gras was excellently prepared, but the portions were so small that they were no more than a forkful. We hope that this was an off night. We will try it again to see if this was an aberration or a new trend.
Hard to believe this place is rated a 4.8. The service was pretty good, but the food was mediocre. It struck us as another Fairfield County restaurant featuring NYC pricing without NYC quality.
The porcini mushroom salad was greasy and bland. Far over-dressed and tasting like mayonnaise. The Wagyu brisket steam buns weren't bad, but it must be assembled by the diner, so it is guesswork which and how much of the sauces to use. In the end, my wife never achieved a flavor profile that she thought was especially good. The "Local Pig Roasted with Juniper and Thyme" was also bland and quite fatty. It was much better with the addition of some salt and pepper -- but these were available only on request, and even then the pepper must be applied by the server.
It is worth noting that there are no greens whatsoever on the dinner menu. There is no salad with any greens, no main course with greens, and no sides available. Considering how greasy / fatty my appetizer and main dish were, this makes the place seem absolutely unhealthy. (On top of that, they serve the Wagyu Bun with what even our server said amounts to a huge french fry.)
The dining room is small and was fairly crowded, with no sound absorption at all, making it necessary to almost shout across the table to hear one another.
The one positive is that the portions were not oversized. In an age when even high-end restaurants increasingly supersize, this was nice to see.
Overall, would not come back here, but again should reiterate that the service was good.
The food at The Cottage is adventurous, delicious, different, memorable--so much so that a review doesn't convey what a different experience this is. The food is spiced differently (not spicy), with different herbs, oils, flavors. Chef Brian Lewis is at the top of his game, and he makes it look easy as well.
We loooove The Cottage! Five stars on food service and ambiance. If you drink alcohol the bartender creates very clever and delicious drinks as well. Nice enough for special occasions and everyday dining. sit at the counter for special views into the kitchens
The best restaurant in CT
Been many times. NEVER get tired of the people, the menu, and the food! The best!
We have dined here at least three times before with great enthusiasm. This time no one of the four of us was really happy with our entrees. Perhaps, there has been a change in either the chef or the menu. In any case, we will not be returning for a while.
Good food and reasonable prices. Like the fact that they allow us to bring our own bottle of wine for a $30 bottle fee. Very noisy though and difficult to hear each other across the table. It’s also tight and a waitress didn’t know she elbowed me and I spilled coffee over myself. Will come back if I am in the area.
Love this place. Truly, only have a few all time favorites around these woods and this is one. Drinks fun, food, even better. Plated, beautifully.
I'll start by saying others in my party don't agree with my feelings.
My objection is with the food, when I'm spending over $100 a head I expect an outstanding meal.
I had an app of "Spicy Squid & Broccoli - burnt garlic - red chili vinaigrette & chorizo aioli" - I would call it quite tasteless and mild. No hint of garlic. A bit of aioli in the bottom. No hint of chorizo and WORSE no hint of Squid, tons of Broccoli. A few small tasteless squid pieces. Sorry this didn't do it for me.
My main course "Lobster Spaghetti - sea urchin - san marzano tomato & garlic crumbs", was better, but was barely warm and also somewhat bland. Not a lot of flavor. I had this dish before and quite enjoyed it. I think they were off their game.
I'll end by saying the restaurant has a great atmosphere and great service. Again at this price I expect great food. I can find good food all over the place.
Noise level way beyond “energetic”, think more along intolerable. Would only return to eat at the bar. Service was exceptional.Food ranged from very good to excellent, with rusty lettuce being the strongest complaint.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and service, worth it desserts!
