The Copper Beech Inn
Food and service were exceptional. However, I had the thinnest Negroni I ever had. First, the gin was on the top, so it was not stirred properly. Second I'm sure the Aperol was in the mix yet I am not so sure about the Red Vermouth. The glass was mostly ice and a very light red color said little or no Vermouth. Lastly, because of the amount of ice, the portions had to be under an ounce each. So don't order a Negroni! Aside from that everything was above average.
The food was of high quality. The service was friendly and attentive.
Very tasty menu. The building and rooms are very cozy.
The dinner and drinks were wonderful as always. We sat outside under the lights. Sam our waiter was fantastic!
Can’t wait to go again.
The pictures made the restaurant look elegant and it ended up being more pub-like. The building has nice character but we were expecting something very different. There were two large parties that night too which were very loud. Food and service was good, but it wasn’t the special occasion restaurant we had hoped for.
I would not recommend. There was no hostess stand or welcome. Limited menu. Clearly locals who were over served as they were loud and foul mouthed.
I ordered the special and a side of spinach. 10 minutes later, waitstaff notified me that the chef made only “one” order and it was sold. Dinner was served to my fiancé and I received my spinach. The spinach was soaked in oil and butter. I ate 2 bites. Waitstaff inquired as to how our dinner was. My fiancé responded “What the spinach?”
Our bill came to $140 with tip.
In the morning, breakfast was included with our room. We decided since dinner was not exactly mind blowing we would split a breakfast and drive the 3 hours home. We order the breakfast and explain the we are sharing it. She carefully placed our breakfast plate dead center on the table and walked away. No second plate. No salt. No pepper. No ketchup. The eggs were dry with no flavor. Would I recommend this restaurant to anyone. No.
Lovely dinner on terrace. Gardens are beautiful and food always delicious.
Outstanding! Dined outside and it was attractive and refreshing.
Dining inside is my norm here but I will rethink with the ambience outside
Great meal! Servers were great and atmosphere was enjoyable. They are doing a great job!
We love having dinner in the dining room. Claudia always makes us feel welcome and the food is better than ever. Our "go to" place when we want a lovely evening out.
Great service from a knowledgeable and courteous staff. Food was outstanding. Cannot beat the ambience. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed the outdoor porch seating on a coolish early Sunday supper (4pm). Food was delicious esp. lobster ravioli chef's special!
We brought our own blanket...and will do it again as it was a windy day...
Perhaps BYOBlanket is the new byob!
Friendliness of the staff, great service and ambience was hard to beat. If you must have one thing have the French onion soup with the short rib ravioli in the bottom, the most delicious French onion soup I’ve ever had!
Excellent service and atmosphere and food.
Best food in the area. Consistently good and nice job with outdoor dining during these difficult times.
Food was perfectly prepared and plated
Wine offerings paired beautifully
Desert - apple strudel - delicious and complemented the meal
Kevin, our server, attentive - not intrusive
VERY Covid sensitive / careful
Wow! The best weiner schnitzel and sauce we have ever had! We wanted to swim in the sauce. The appetizer special was mouth wateringly good, and again, I wanted to dip my bread into the balsamic dressing remains of the home grown tomatoes and mozzarella salad. Loved the service, loved the ambiance and loved being back at the Copper Beech Inn. We highly recommend The Copper Beech Inn for lunch or dinner.
Such a nice setting for dinner out.
The food was delicious and the service outstanding. If there is one negative point, it was that one entree was not served as warm as it should have been. But overall we had a great experience and we will go back.
Our first time, and we loved it! Will be back! Jennifer, our server, was great and would request her again. Drinks were perfect and meals delicious.
The Copper Beach Inn has become a favorite of ours. We are from Illinois but have been visiting Connecticut regularly with children in college out here. Whenever we are in CT we make it a point to visit the Inn. We were there recently on 8/16/2020. The Inn was not very busy on this particular day. The cocktails were delicious. My wife had the Weiner Schnitzel and said it was delicious. My daughter and her boyfriend both had the Goat Cheese Beet Ravioli which was also delicious. However, the portion size was a bit small for my daughter's boyfriend. I had the New York Sirloin Steak (medium). Unfortunately, the steak was quite gristly. No dessert this trip as we were all full. Service was great, as usual. I give this visit a solid 4 stars. Couldn't go any higher due to the disappointing steak but will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our Friday night dinner ..... always so wonderful at the Copper Beech....the place, the gardens, the food, the service.....just wonderful! We will be back!
The outside seating is beautiful overlooking gardens and white lights. The service was perfect. The menu had something for everyone and the food was exceptional.
Stayed at the Inn. Restaurant conveniently located on property. Lovely outdoor covered porch seating; other tables dispersed throughout the large yard/grounds; all tables were appropriately social distanced. Nice wine list. Wait staff friendly, courteous and efficient. A delicious meal!! Scallops were cooked to perfection; risotto was wonderful. My partner enjoyed Weiner Schnitzel and we shared apple tart- very yummy!
Suggest that you put up a temporary shield on the raining/bannister where all guests and restaurant servers have to use multiple times when entering, exiting and serving. Doing this will limit exposure for those guests seated at the end table closest to the railing/banister.
The Copper Beech is consistently good. The food is always innovative and well-prepared. They have done an excellent job creating a very beautiful outdoor dining space in their gardens where we feel comfortable dining during the pandemic. Sam, our waiter, was attentive and personable. Copper Beech is one of our regular dining venues, we like it that much.
It was really a very nice dinner. The food was outstanding and the restaurant was beautiful.
Great food. Wonderful service. Very beautiful outdoor dinning on porch or in gardens. A very romantic experience
Everything was wonderful and the way Sam treated us we felt like we owned the place.
Had a lovely birthday celebration there. Service was attentive and cheerful (thanks to Claudia). Food was expertly prepared and served. Perfect view of the gardens from the porch dining area.
A true fine-dinning experience. Service was excellent. We chose inside dinning and had the room to ourselves. Highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy fine dinning, ambience and excellent service. We celebrated our 40th Anniversary which was very memorable.
Excellent food and the restaurant is cosy. Highly recommend.
Excellent all around! I hate it when they require min.# of characters!
They have done a beautiful job re-creating their outdoor space.
I don't know why Copper Beech hadn't gone to this kind of dining before. The atmosphere and ambiance was so terrific. It was a wonderful dining experience, and we would eat outside by the fountain any time.
Our 1st meal out after quarantine. Beautiful outdoor seating, perfect weather. My husband had his favorite weiner schnitzel and I had the goat cheese & beet ravioli - both were scrumptious! Sam, our waiter was very attentive as were the other wait staff. Felt bad for the waitstaff as it was a lot of extra running around as the tables had to be "distanced". Sam had tables way down in the garden as well as on the porch. As always, he did a great job! On a side note, we were so very pleased to see the new copper Beech tree proudly planted front and center. Beautiful tree! We'll be back very soon. Thank you for a wonderful evening .
Very pretty atmosphere and the food was delicious!
Always lovely, always our favourite. Sam is the best, just a beautiful spot.
