great food, casual relaxed environment with good music. service friendly and attentive.
I would strongly recommend
Every month we do a cousins get together and I was able to persuade everybody to come to westchester (from NYC and Stamford) by regaling then with how great The Cookery is! Happy to share that the restaurant delivered on all my promises. The food, cocktails, service and vibe of the restaurant were all on point. Thanks for providing a great venue and meal for a boisterous bunch of picky eaters.
This restaurant was just such a great experience. Really creative, thoughtful, delicious food being served in a laid back, unpretentious atmosphere. The pig’s head donut is a must-try at least once, and the bone marrow rigatoni is something I would come back for whenever I need a rich, comforting treat. This is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in a long time, and totally worth the hike from Queens to Dobbs Ferry. The service was also fantastic. You could tell our waiter loved and was knowledgeable about the food and took pride in the place himself. Overall such a wonderful meal.
Chairs were not sturdy. Had to change two chairs.I drink was 17 dollars. They take 3 percent to pay their cooks. Strawberry tomato salad 14 dollars had no lettuce and cherry tomatoes sliced strawberries. Osso Bucco tasted like port shank. Bread should be free with dinner.been to many high priced restaurants never had a charge to pay the kitchen crew.
Great tasting food & good service, small portions. At brunch there was only one “passing bites,” I think there should be at least 2 or 3. Music too loud. Will do take out next time.
Food was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive. Did not skimp on the drinks.
Food, staff are amazing! The meatballs and lemon pasta are addictive and the gold standard.
It’s a great restaurant but the noise level, even when not fully booked, was obnoxious to the point of ruining the experience. We will only go back Mon-Thurs
Best place In Dobbs by far!!
It was my daughters birthday and the cookery is her favorite restaurant! As always it didn’t disappoint us at all. The special pasta dish for the night was great and the regular dish were great as usual. Couldn’t be any happier with our food! It feels good to be able to rely on a place for great food!
What's there to say. This was my second visit and again they did not fail. My goal is to try everything on their menu. So to sum this up I love this restaurant.
Inattentive service - sat for 10-15 minutes without a sever - had to ask the busboy to get her - drinks came out except for one and had to ask 3x for the Diet Coke - one of our party’s food didn’t come out - had to ask for it - waitress was just not good and we had to ask others for help. Most of our meals were over cooked - it wasn’t busy when we were there so not sure why our waitress wasn’t good. Maybe it was the end of the brunch hour so not so great - charred cocktail was good.
The food was outstanding as usual. Brunch there is so good.
The food was absolutely delicious and we felt that is was reasonably priced for a special occasion meal. We went early ,5pm, because we have kids and the wait staff was friendly and accommodating. There was only 1 negative, my ravioli was over salted (& I’m not one to complain). They took the comment graciously and offered to change my meal.
Delicious food and fun cocktails! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Cookery is always a favorite! Delish food, great service, and friendly staff. We went for Father's Day for my husband and had a wonderful brunch. I recommend :)
Great but music is too loud
Father's Day ...ordered appetizers...asked for bread....none....asked for cornbread on menu even would pay for it...no...only exact amount baked to go with roast pig....seriously...are you kidding us? Half an hour later waitress came by to each table with mi
Ushe mini blueberry muffin...wow!
Save your money & go to restaurant whose establishment knows how to make you feel welcome especially if you love your Dad! Too expensive & unyielding!
Small menu, but the food was incredible, the service was great, our waitress made recommendation and she was spot on. The dish prices were very fair. The place had a nice feeling to it, with a very good crowd.
Food is amazing!! Always love whatever I order. Restaurant is loud, especially when full. But, service is friendly and top-notch.
I love going to The Cookery - the food is outstanding, the energy is great, the ambiance is very cool, and the staff is very attentive yet not overbearing. With all that, it is a little noisy, even with a few people in the space. They have done some things with putting acoustic panels on the ceiling, but a little more needs to be done. It has a great energy, but having a conversation can be tough sometimes.
Enjoyed splitting the special (prime rib). 23 dollars for a double of goose and 7.
Another fantastic experience. Food , service and atmosphere is everything you can look for in a rustic/refined dinning experience. Come here after work for some great drinks, savory dishes and awesome staff.
The Cookery is one of our favorite spots. It’s always excellent whether you’re at the bar or a table. The food is innovative, funky and delicious . The service is outstanding and very knowledgeable in regards to the menu.
You cannot judge a book by its cover. We all know that. Upon walking into The Cookery I was taken aback by how casual it seemed. I guess I was expecting something a little more formal. I was not deterred. I always judge restaurants on the quality of the food. I knew from reviews that I had read that I was in for something different. We were seated immediately and went to work perusing the menu. I honed in on what I wanted right away. I knew that I wanted the Pork Osso Buco and the Chicken Liver Parfait. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The food was sublime. This was a meal to be savored and enjoyed very slowly. I took small bites so that the flavors could be enjoyed longer. My date had the Fried Octopus and the Branzino. Both were declared to be excellent. I am looking forward to returning to try some other items. I would highly recommend the Cookery. You will be in for a rare treat.
Cookery in our experience is always delicious. Only drawbacks are they typically run out of specials very early in the night, and it is a really loud place. Service and food are great though!
The Cookery is a restaurant we like to frequent. Oftentimes, we order the same items - mozzarella and Osso Buco. However, this time, I went for the scallops ceviche and was not disappointed. Their cocktails are also really wonderful.
Sweet, savory, super interesting dishes and just the right amount! We can’t wait to come back and try other dishes. Great staff, great drinks. We loved it.
The Cookery always provides predictably good food. Service is well executed and the ambiance brings the whole experience together. The chef, David Dibari has earned his excellent reputation. Of course you pay a bit of a premium for visit, which is a downside. However, overall I believe it is worth being included in ones restaurant rotation.
Three of us tried three different pastas. All were heavily salted. Starters were fine, drinks very good, service terrific and we really liked the atmosphere. But the salt....
We had to wait for our table for 30 minutes. While the manager did bring us an appetizer and an apologize once we sat down. It felt like that was a little late.
Loved everything about The Cookery. It was great
Loved it. Everything was delicious. Have already shared with friends and recommended they try !!
We had a summer Friday early bird dinner here at 5. So delicious. You would not assume it from the outside, but once you enter it’s a surreal food journey of the most tasteful kind!
What a fabulous experience tonight at The Cookery. The service was superb , the cuisine is authentic, unique and fresh; also very hearty. Make sure you go hungry! This place will not disappoint.
Amazing food with a fun atmosphere and staff. Definitely a place to frequent
This was one of the most dismal dining experiences I can recall having in a very long time, and we were very inclined to enjoy ourselves since it was our anniversary. I went in as my husband went to park, and although I was seated, I was not given a food menu, just one for drinks. The waitress put tepid water on the table, and no ice in the glasses. After my husband was seated, it took quite a while to give drink orders and longer to get our drinks. We finally asked the busboy for menus. We ordered the bread and ramp butter, which was much the best thing we ate there. We gave our food orders, and I ordered a glass of wine and my husband a beer. Our appetizers came along with my wine, and my husband finally had to ask for his beer. His octopus was mush and garnished with the end piece of a raw canned tomato. My meatballs were so mushy that I had to scoop them; they fell apart if you put a fork into them. The menu plays fast and loose with Italian culinary terms like mostarda and vincotto, which bear no resemblance to the real thing. My fusilli fra diavolo were overcooked, not spicy, and seemed to have been made with tomato paste, so thick and unpleasant was the sauce. My husband’s pork shank was tasteless, and the polenta underneath was cold. When we asked for our check with pretty much all the food on our plates, the waitress asked what was wrong, and the management removed the octopus and pork shank from the bill, which was the right thing to do. However, despite that reduction, this whole dismal experience still cost us $100. It was a complete waste of money, and not a pleasant way to spend an evening.
The food was, as always, remarkable. We had two special appetizers- the asparagus and the snap peas. Both were fabulous. For dinner, the black fish was superb. However, the noise level was literally intolerable. We could not hear eachother at our table. The wait staff were kind enough to move us from where we were initially seated next to a huge party table. We otherwise simply could not have stayed.
One of our very favorites! Consistently excellent food!
Everything was very good - the bread and ramp butter was fantastic!! We shared the lamb bolongnese which was my favorite. I felt my market Rib eye wasn’t worth the $38 price tag. A little on the thin side. Chicken was good.
