Wow, how things have changed.
Many years ago we enjoyed this Sunday buffet. Since it has been awhile since we enjoyed the restaurant, we decided to have a nice brunch. We arrived a little early so we expected to wait. We walked in, and could not find the hostess, I went to the front desk and a very nice clerk walked us over and found the hostess. I was people watching and discovered that a dress code was no longer in force.
I saw younger men with the baseball hats turned around,Tee shirts, ripped jeans, children unaccompanied running around the dining room and then run into the lobby where the guests were treated to a piano recital by two of the misbehaving children.
Perhaps there should be an enforced dress code and if possible the staff could speak with the parents of the unruly children or maybe the parents who choose to share their children with other patrons should be charged for the children’s meals. This may discourage parents from bring their children into this type of environment.
The food was very good, the service was acceptable but the guests ruined our experience.
FIRST A SHOUT OUT TO DAVID CRUZ OUR WAITER..SERVICE WAS A 10 PLUS..MY WIFE AND I EAT OUT OFTEN AND THIS MEAL AND OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS FANTASTIC.. SCALLOPS AND CRAB CAKE APPETIZER...CESAR SALAD FOR 2... SEA BASS AND SALMON..YUM..FOR THE RECORD THERE WAS 2 LARGE WEDDING GOING ON AND A FULL RESTAURANT AND BAR..SERVICE AND FOOD DID NOT SUFFER..THOSE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT NOISE FROM THE BAR..WE THOUGHT IT MADE OUR DINNER THAT MUCH MORE SPECIAL..FELT LIKE WE WERE ON A CRUISE THE WAY EVERYTHING PLAYED OUT..TRY AN OLD FASHION AND A TOM COLLINS BOTH MADE WITH GREAT SKILL ..WILL RETURN SOON...
The food that was served at the High Tea was Not what I expected! The scones were the worst that I have ever had! There were no tea sandwiches and I was highly disappointed! We were told that none of the baked goods were made on the premises and they were not very good. The water for the tea was not even hot but just warm. I have been to quite a few teas and this was definitely the worst. What a waste of my money!
Food and service were outstanding. Just as they always are.
The service was wonderful the food was fantastic we had appetizers, salads, soups, entrées and desserts and everything was phenomenal
when i arrived i noticed groups are setting together however our Group was split in to 2 separate tables. I asked what happened and i was told "we only have round tables for 10 each for seating" i told the hostess how about the other groups setting together? and here response was they asked!!!WOW. fist time at the place and it was not my best experience. Disappointed with entire experience.
I hade to move the tables closer to each other by my self. Food was ok. Had better experience at other restaurants
I chose The Drake because I was looking for a quiet restaurant for a business luncheon. It certainly delivered! Excellent food and service. I will definitely be back.
Can’t wait to go again, Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Great varieties of teas.
Beautiful room, impeccable service, excellent tapas! And fairly reasonable based on the dishes we ordered. The waitstaff was friendly and extremely accommodating. Will definitely return for Friday Tapas!
Absolute lovely experience at high tea. The food, teas and service was excellent! Will definitely return!
I would recommend with a caveat that enjoy the servicesand the food because the noise coming from the lounge which is located just steps away from the dining area, well you might as well gone to a concert and sat in the front row. We couldn’t hear one another without raising voices. There is no way dinner should be served past 8pm when the lounge starts filling up. The fact there is no sound barrier ie. between the tables and bar area isn’t an oversight, but deliberate and really an insult to paying customers. So go early and either migrate to lounge around 8, or go to another concert.
Absolutely delightful! The staff was great. Could not have asked for a better experience.
Music in bar too loud for dinner. General dining and bar area seemed cluttered, dark and there were used tablecloths and rags laying in tables. Very unimpressed.
Our ladies found the luncheon menu perfect. Great choice and ample amount of food beautifully prepared. The Baked Alaska was wonderful! I really enjoyed it! We are planning to have our Christmas Party there this year in the Colonial Room.I will make a reservation. The only little problem we found was that the waitress was busy taking care of other tables which caused a delay in getting food, coffee and dessert. No big deal! She was the only waitress there and more & more people came in. The servers were very efficient in replenishing water and coffee. All in all, it was a lovely afternoon in a beautiful setting.
There was construction going on in the lobby so it was very noisy most of the breakfast. The eggs did not taste good.
I booked the Drake for my parents 45th anniversary. They had a wonderful time and plan on going back next year! Thanks to the staff for making their evening so special.
Food choice was extremely limited for children compared to Mother’s Day buffet
Lunch and service was good. The hotel is under renovation and it is a distraction
The food was phenomenal and the service was even better. Manuel and Lorena made sure our mimosas never ran empty and that we had everything we needed. We will be back and we will be bringing our friends. A must brunch!!!!
Was disappointed to be stuck in a banquet room. Always drove past and was excited to finally dine there. The ham in the eggs Benedict was the thinnest slice ever. Not worthy of a proper Benedict.
Very disappointed, when we arrived we were informed that brunch was being served in a banquet room & not in the colonial room. We were not notified of this change.
Service was poor.
Was really disappointed in this brunch. People were packed in and it was very noisy. Food was way overpriced and there was no varying price level for those who didn’t drink alcohol. We will not be back.
Very disappointed in overall experience. At the rate of $65 per person that you charge it was horrible. Have attended previously and was very pleased, but this was disorganized ,insulting, NO ambiance and terrible entrance. The prepay of all expenses up front was totally -OUT OF ORDER-LOW CLASS. Perhaps you expected that the diners would be UNHAPPY, so you SOCKED them up front. Totally unorganized sign in with all kinds of confusion and BAD manners. Guests that arrived after initial party were embarrassed when asked to PAY AGAIN, or NOT be seated. Table reservation was for nine originally, but I called to change order several times and your system wouldn't accept change to seven. Finally accepted, but the table was then awkwardly set for Nine people- total lack of follow through and execution. Not a good presentation for the DRAKE. Had planned to attend again regularly, but will NEVER go again, or EVER Recommend to anyone. A TRUE DISGRACE. Vern Diedrick
Easter Sunday Brunch. The best. Service was superb. People we gracious and friendly. The food was just like mom would make. We are going to make this a habit after church.
Service, Food, Atmosphere was superb! Ease of being seated was really appreciated. Flowing champagne and mimosas, never had to ask for a refill, staff was extremely attentive.
Easter Sunday Brunch was as busy as one can get after Easter Sunday church service//mass.
Drake handled the mass of people with professionalism and military discipline.
Food is good and plenty to choose from.
A little pricey but you get a lot.
We last visited on a busy Sunday (Easter Sunday) and our experience was excellent. The waitstaff was attentive, helpful and pleasant. Although crowded, seating was arranged so that it didn’t seem so. Excellent food and outstanding service. I would highly recommend!
The Easter brunch was outstanding. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time, and were seated immediately. The service was impeccable. There were three servers that came to our table about every 10 minutes, to ask if we wanted more coffee, juice, champagne, etc. Water glasses were always kept full. Used plates were removed promptly. There were 2 rooms of food choices. Several breakfast entrees, a carving station, cold seafood bar, hot side dishes, and a huge selection of desserts. Everyone from the hostess to the servers were very polite and accommodating. I will definitely be back for future brunches.
The staff was amazing and very attentive
Food was good, a lot of choices
Great girls night out for their Tapas and Sangria Night- on Thursday and Fridays .
"I enjoyed the relaxed feel of this place – the room was beautiful, elegant and comfortable. I definitely would return to try more dishes. We had the chopped chicken salad with Cajun vinaigrette dressing. The lettuce was cold, crisp with no wilted pieces. The service was friendly but not over - bearing.
Our served David was amazing! And the rest of the staff all provided us with great conversation and recommendations. Definitely coming back soon.
The atmosphere was nice and service grand but breads dried out and would prefer plain scones and it seemed like the clotted cream failed to clot.
When we had lunch, it was OK. The High tea was a disappointment. We would go back for lunch, but not for the High Tea.
We had a very nice experience at the Drake Oakbrook's Colonial Room. We went on an early Thursday evening. For most of our dinner we were the only diners in the Room, probably because we were early (6 pm) for a hotel crowd. The food was good and the service was excellent. The room decor is very nice.
Place was nice and clean. Waffles French toast and eggs Benedict were sitting dried out too long no crops bacon they had to make some it was all limp and no variety of doneness . Selection was good salads were very good. Coffe was cold once cream was added. No sweet rolls or pastry just deserts that were ah ok. First time at this location felt chicago location was better and more worth the price. They also have a down hill parkin and and walk in which the side walk was salted about 15 feet so you had to walk down hill on ice for at least 100 feet sliding with nothing to hold in to to get to parking.
Portions are smaller for the cost but the service is excellant. David and Francisco are awesome staff. They are very attentive and friendly. We have eaten here in the past. Food is very good to outstanding except portions but the chef gets the preparation and flavors spot on.
They had live music (jazz)at the bar and it was standing room only. Older crowd, lots of dancing, people having a great time. We went to the lounge after dinner and stayed until the band finished. Great date place!
Valentines Day evening was wonderful! The food was excellent as was the service.
