Nestled in the heart of Morden The Cock and Bottle is steeped in tradition. Parts of the pub date back some 400 years, we offer all the charms of an olde-worlde Dorset village inn. Our reputation is enhanced by being named regional winners for the best food pub for the last three years by Hall & Woodhouse.

The Cock and Bottle is one of the best places around to enjoy hearty food at its best. John, the chef is renowned for his cuisine and has worked tirelessly to produce a menu that caters for all tastes. His ever changing menu reflects the fresh game and fish available each day, and covers everything from lamb shank to steak and kidney suet pudding, rabbit pie to chicken curry, which is made to John's own recipe. For fish lovers there are a number of dishes, including sea-bass, haddock, salmon and skate wing. To finish off why not try one of our homemade desserts. The pub also offers an extensive and varied range of real ales and wines.

We are dog friendly but booking is essential.

On this occasion we both had the same starter and main.

Duck spring rolls to start with large salad garnish, a huge dollop of sauce and Prawn Crackers. Big portions and very yummy.

For Mains we had Scampi and Chips, again big portions and very nice, came with peas and a huge pot of Tartar sauce. really good succulent scampi in very crispy breaded coating.

I think we will have this again on another visit.

Food was fabulous; portions were a bit too generous for us but well presented and freshly cooked. Service was friendly enough. Table felt a little sticky, but this may have been due to necessary Covid-cleaning?

I am sad to say having visited the Cock and Bottle on previous occasions I found this occasion very poor, a nice greeting by the pub landlord, very quiet as it was about 6 p.m. but became busier. No ambience whatsoever and felt that the other staff were just fed up. Sadly my meal of curry was delivered to the table cold, it was returned and then when came back certainly was much better but I would not say its the best I've ever had, I think I know formed chicken and a jar of sauce when I eat one. My mother's starter and my husband's meal were good though not served on hot plates. I was glad to leave, the tables where dreadfully sticky and we were told that this was due to the sanitizers used though have have never experienced this anywhere else. Overall I would not return and did not enjoy our evening. I did not feel valued as a customer.

The food was fabulous. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were open for Monday lunch which was perfect for us.
The back side of menu had a very extensive fish selection. I had haddock risotto which was wonderful and I ate the whole generous serving.
We used to go a lot and are delighted to rediscover it. A good location near Wareham

Quite busy. Plenty of hand sanitiser
We had for starters duck spring rolls and breaded mushrooms, which were lovely but the duck didn’t have enough dipping sauce.
The veggie burger was large. Couldn’t taste the guacamole as the chickpea burger was too spicy. Chips were dry and floury. Steak was cooked perfectly but again the chips we’re really dry. .
Not a good atmosphere but I think that’s due to social distancing.

The cock and Bottle is local to our home and we have visited on a number of occasions. We were hosting family members from the North of England who were wildly impressed.

Great food, service and ambience. Very fair prices too!

Highly recommend you visit soon.

We've been coming here for probably 25 years.

We've never had a bad meal. The fish is always excellent.

Obviously, at the moment Covid restrictions dominate, however this establishment works well with it and follows the Government protocols precisely.

Our most recent visit, 28/06/21 was impromptu.

9 times out of 10 I have plaice or sole. It has never failed me.
But not on mains menu tonight, so my next favourite, sea bass. I haven't stopped talking about it!
Haven't had such a nice piece of fish for ages.

The starters. I'm not a prawn lover, but took a punt on them marinated, we devoured them! Yum!

Usually our yardstick is The Captains Table, W. Bexington.
Cock and bottle matches it for food quality.

Thanks to the hard working Landlord, staff and OF COURSE, the chef!

Absolutely beautiful food. Faultless. I had Seabass which was melt in the mouth, followed by summer pudding. The presentation on both dishes was outstanding.
My husband had a sirloin steak followed by strawberry pavlova, he was raving about both.
Highly recommend this place.

We haven’t eaten here since last year thanks to C19, there were probably 8/10 other diners so not busy.
Sadly our welcome was lukewarm we were shown to our bare table (I know C19 strikes again) and were given 4 plastic coated menus which felt sticky and reminiscent of a greasy spoon cafe!
I realise they have to sanitise everything and that leaves a residue but we’ve eaten out recently where the menus are on paper and you can take them away or they are thrown.
Service was adequate with little interaction on the staffs part, food was simply delivered and no one bothered with the age old question ‘is everything all right?’
It was nothing like the experience we’ve had here before, we will return at some point and hopefully things will have improved as we’ve always enjoyed dining here when in Dorset.

The were very busy and the wait was long but this was offset by the superb service who kept us aware of the food timings. The food was excellent and not compromised by being so busy. When you wait and the food is this good you will return with pleasure. Thank you to the kitchen and the staff at Cock and Bottle.

Another lovely freshly cooked meal, none of your Wetherspoons de frosted same old food here.

Starters were large enough for some of you to have as a main.
Beaded mushrooms with salad and dip and Pan fried Prawns with garlic butter both big portions and yummy

Pork medallions in a cider gravy with mash and fresh veg cooked just the way I like it.

Huge breast in the hunters chicken with everything you would expect and chips of course, washed down with a poachers and an amstell.

Great food at great value!

Food was lovely, service was atentive and all staff and dinners practicing excellent social distancing. Wonderful evening. The only way we could think of improving our visit could have been some soft gentle background music ( but that wouldn't suit everyone). Will be back.

My only complaint ( if I had one ) is that whatever product is used for cleaning the tables leaves the surface very sticky and tacky. I understand that a tablecloth would need to be changed after every customer leaves but, maybe disposal paper placemats would be a cheaper option and stop people’s arm’s etc sticking to the table

Perfectly cooked Sirloin Steak (Medium Rare). we are very particular about our Steak and the Cock & Bottle never disappoints.

Great to be able to eat here again after everything and they will always be on our preferred restaurant list. Lovely to see the place busy whilst still retaining that wonderful Country Pub independence. No pre cooked , yo can get it anywhere food. every meal is cooked from scratch on the premises.

Great food, reasonably priced!

We have been going here for over 30 years now, whenever we stay in Dorset, had the pleasure of taking our grandchildren this time, so that is 4 generations of our family to visit here. Food was very good, good portion size, very tasty, great selection on the menu which made it hard to choose!
