The Charles Dickens
We were very pleased with standard of the food and the service. We had booked for 7pm so did not have full advantage of the lovely view from the upstairs restaurant but it was still a lovely experience. Downstairs was busy and rather noisy but the restaurant was nice and quiet.
Lovely service. Good food. Excellent value
We have been coming to Charles Dickens ever since its opening and have never been let down. But on Saturday lunch the beef suet pudding was disappointing. The suet was rock hard and the meat was dry as was the mash(gravy was served sepaprately). It seemed it had been kept warm in the oven for far too long. We should have mentioned it at the time but was eating with guests who were enjoying their meals and we didnt want to spoilt the moment. It was surprising and out of charactor.. We were warned that the wait for meals was 45 mins and it did seem that was roughly how long the meal had been kept warm.
As always great food and service all this and the fabulous view. No wonder we keep coming back.
Lovely and big portion roast dinner. Very good value!
A great evening out, would definitely recommend
Fab service and food was good. We are in the restaurant would highly recommend
First time here and will be back the service was great and the food delicious and food value for money be good to go in the summer and enjoy the amazing view
Good selection on the menu, well presented!
Excellent food and services as always
Great views and service. We went for Sunday lunch. Lamb was lovely but the veg was almost raw and the potatoes tasted like they had been warmed from the previous day. Very disappointing.
Great atmosphere foid and service! Highly recommend for lunch .
A great new year's eve meal! The food was very tasty and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and we would definitely visit again.
Nice pub with a good ambience and first class food served either in the bar or first floor restaurant.
Lovely food, great atmosphere. Everything cooked perfectly. Just great, thanks to all the team working New Years Eve :)
Had to send my meal back replaced was not much better. Overpriced . Staff don’t seem to enjoy their job
Good food but is a little pricey. We shared steak and chips and the mussels and both were delicious. The fries with the mussels were a bit under done but the chef had just burnt his hand so we felt grateful to receive our meals at all! Overall would recommend.
We went here for a pre Xmas night out. Overall it was all okay but, for us, there was a lack of Xmas feeling, restaurant felt cold and not very welcoming although this was not helped by having a big stag party on the table where you walked in! Service was okay and I appreciate the waiting staff are young but having to request cutlery to eat your main course with is not really on! Have been to the Charles Dickens on several previous occasions and each time I have been standards seem to have slipped compared with when it first opened.
Have been to the Charles Dickens many times before and have always been really pleased, however on this occasion I was a bit disappointed. We were seated by a window which was very draughty and cold, the resteraunt has two sections we were seated away from all the other diners so we sat alone. We were not offered the Christmas menu and when we asked the server did bring the other menu to us but was told the chef may not be able to do all the dishes so we opted for the standard menu. Prawn cocktail to start was delicious I could not fault it. I opted for turkey for my main but was somewhat disappointed, I had 2 small slices of turkey a smokey tasting sausage, tasteless stuffing, 3 small roasties and half a plate of veg. Halfway through our meal we were asked if we wanted any sauces. My other half choose a burger which he was very pleased with. When it came to paying the server had disappeared so we were hanging around waiting. I would return to this resteraunt as has always been good in the past.
We needed somewhere at short notice for 7 and it ticked that box. The food was indifferent and the service slow. But the company was good so we enjoyed our evening despite rather than because of the meal.
A good experience, outstanding view......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful food, friendly staff, lovely views of the sea, highly recommend. One of our favourite restaurants/pubs in Broadstairs. Their Sunday lunch is amazing. Thank you for another great meal.
Excellent night we all had a good time.staff as usual all give 101% attention. Just had two meals of Lamb which was a bit tough. But all the others were excellent.
Lovely family roast. Always good quality. We had a selection of three meats, all the trimmings.
Lovely setting with helpful staff. Food very good
A consistently good place for Sunday lunch. Traditional roast served with fine sea views.
Good value for money with friendly helpful staff, food delicious.
Lovely views across the harbour. Staff very pleasant. Food enjoyable.
As always excellent food, service and ambient. Saw the fireworks too.
Very attentive and helpful staff, food was very good. Always a pleasant location for a meal
Excellent food service and ambience.
Have been here several times now.always welcoming staff.very effect
Always willing to help.
Slow service but good food
Excellent meal with good service in nice surroundings - would definitely go back.
The food was over cooked and the staff were surly, disinterested and slow. They didn't look like the wanted to be there and by the end neither did we.
Lovely food and beautiful view of the beach and sea. Some hot drinks were not received and had to remind the staff. Only negative was a large group with children, they allowed there children to run riot and scream at high pitches. Not the fault of the restaurant but of people who do not coincide others. We will be coming again when we next visit Broadstairs.
Beautiful food have lived here for 12 years and never been in!!! Lovely staff great views and a great atmosphere
Wonderful meal... sweet waiters/waitresses. A party of 8 but unfortunately one of the orders was missed.... meaning he got his meal about 15-20 mins after us
Staff were nice, food was ok, decor was a bit uninspired.
Very disappointing. Menu given to us was different to the website. Also the order for dessert was totally forgotten. After waiting over 25 minutes we were told it would take another 17 minutes. Apology given was not sincere. We decided to pay our bill and leave.
