The Charles Dickens
Lovely views across the harbour. Staff very pleasant. Food enjoyable.
As always excellent food, service and ambient. Saw the fireworks too.
Very attentive and helpful staff, food was very good. Always a pleasant location for a meal
Excellent food service and ambience.
Have been here several times now.always welcoming staff.very effect
Always willing to help.
Slow service but good food
Excellent meal with good service in nice surroundings - would definitely go back.
The food was over cooked and the staff were surly, disinterested and slow. They didn't look like the wanted to be there and by the end neither did we.
Lovely food and beautiful view of the beach and sea. Some hot drinks were not received and had to remind the staff. Only negative was a large group with children, they allowed there children to run riot and scream at high pitches. Not the fault of the restaurant but of people who do not coincide others. We will be coming again when we next visit Broadstairs.
Beautiful food have lived here for 12 years and never been in!!! Lovely staff great views and a great atmosphere
Wonderful meal... sweet waiters/waitresses. A party of 8 but unfortunately one of the orders was missed.... meaning he got his meal about 15-20 mins after us
Staff were nice, food was ok, decor was a bit uninspired.
Very disappointing. Menu given to us was different to the website. Also the order for dessert was totally forgotten. After waiting over 25 minutes we were told it would take another 17 minutes. Apology given was not sincere. We decided to pay our bill and leave.
The view is lovely, good service and nice enough food- very good value
Roast dinner was very good and service was good too. Good value.
I have mobility issues and need crutches. When I made my booking a member of staff rang to make sure I could manage the stairs. The table was perfect, just what I had requested. Staff were all polite and friendly. Food excellent. I had the lamb, which was a little rare for me, but it came back perfect. Desserts were amazing. The standard of food and the service are worthy of 5 stars.
Great view of Broadstairs Viking Bay. Adequate food, service and prices, although wine was expensive.
Great view and good quality food. Well worth a visit.
Great evening, the staff were really friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and well presented.
Good value for money.
We were lucky to have a window seat, which made the evening more special.
Have been to Charles Dickens many times before and always delighted invite some friend to join us and what happened not sure , took ages for waitress to take drink order, waited very long time for food to arrive on arrival 2x fish not cooked sent back so 2 eat on there own.Whene fish came back ,batter very burnt I could not eat mine. On whole very disappointed with visit.
Great roast dinner. Not a bad price. Lovely views. Very good service
This place lists itself as a gastro pub with fine dining. Was more like the dining hall at a holiday camp. Staff we're friendly but not very professional. Ambience was awful, bright lights and stark furniture. The food was generally not good. None of us enjoyed our main meal, there were 6 of us. To be fair, the desert was very nice .
Was so disappointed as it was a meal to celebrate my birthday.
On the plus side, the bar downstairs was good with excellent live music.
Very enjoyable meal, thanks to all of the staff.
Food was good, nice and friendly staff, excellent value for money
We chose this venue as it was Fireworks Night in Broadstairs, and the upstairs restaurant gives unrivalled views of the seafront. We were not disappointed with the view or the food. One of our party was slightly delayed, but the staff were all fine with this. We use this place a lot, and always find that it provides good food at a good price. We are going back again, later this week!
We loved the restaurant, the food and views of the harbour were excellent.
Sadly the waitress was appalling, she clearly didn't want to be there,we tried to engage in conversation with little success we were never asked if everything was ok
And the most jaw dropping thing came when we paid cash for our meal and drinks but no change was forthcoming even though it was due, after waiting for a period I finally had to ask for my change which was produced from a tip bowl!
We have never experienced service like this before hence writing this review
We had a window seat overlooking the bay on request. They made a special effort to do this for us as it was a birthday celebration. Cheerful attentive service. The food was nicely presented, hot and tasty. All 7 guests were happy with their meals.
Eat here quite often. Food consistently good. Staff friendly and efficient. Good value and excellent sea views!
Good experience !
Great atmosphere easy booking through open table only ever been here for Sunday lunch which is always excellent. This time evening menu the seafood platter was enormous and absolutely delicious
We waited 45 minutes for starter and main came in one hour even though the restaurant wasn’t busy. My roast dinner was inedible, the meat chewy and uncuttable, the potatoes like bullets and the Yorkshire must have been aunt bessies. Will not return
Beautiful dinner and great service, Always recommend this restaurant
Helpful, polite staff. Tasty food. Lovely view of the sea
Good food quite a long wait but fine as tasted fresh lovely waitress great service not the cheapest but tasty 👍
We had a great meal for our wedding anniversary. Great service and great food!
I had to change my time that was booked but it was dealt with without any problems.
Excellent sunday roast infact couldn't eat all of it, but not a bad complaint.
Needed a sharper cutting knife, not that the meat was tough though.
We had a table on the first floor with a sea view.
The service was great and the food delicious.
Lovely atmosphere. Recommend a visit.
Nice surroundings, with views over he beach. Service is good. Menu extensive and well put together. Wine list varied and goes from reasonable to midrange prices. Good, friendly service.
Very accommodating staff and manager. We were a party of 9 of which 2 were disabled and 2 celiacs. All had a great time.
Just a word of advice. Disabled people need to contact the restaurant in advance as the eating area is upstairs.
Great service, tasty food and very accommodating. All with a fantastic view across Viking Bay.
First visit to Broadstairs and loved the location of this fabulous pub/restaurant. The views from the restaurant are great. Staff lovely and food really good. If we visited Broadstairs again would definitely book again. Highly recommend
