We have been to the Captain Digby before and so were no strangers to the venue, however this time it was to celebrate our anniversary, and so we were planning to make it a special occasion.
I chose to book a table online and the whole experience was very straight forward with the ability to advise them if it was a special occasion and express a preference for seating location.
We arrived a little early and were shown to our table by a very professional but friendly member of staff, where my wife was delighted to see that a couple of balloons had been attached to give that little special feel.
The staff throughout our meal were attentive without rushing us and the food was really better than we have had on previous occasions, with a very tasty starter and main course. Portions were a very good size and represented very good value for money. We opted for one of their "special offer " meals which included a medium size glass of wine .
The only slight negative that I found is that the seating is a little "bunched up" so there is very little space between tables, consequently it looses that feel of private intimacy. On the whole though a very enjoyable experience.

Took family visiting from Spain there for Sunday Roast. Everything was superb, as it always is. We have only lived in Thanet for 3 years & have been there numerous times, either with family, friends or just on our own & have always had excellent food & service. 10 out of 10
Would recommend "The Captain Digby" to anyone.

The staff at The Captain Digby provided a very attentive service and were very well prepared to cater to the dietary requirements in our group. The food arrived in good time and was delicious. We will happily visit again when next in the area.

The service was very good with a very friendly waitress. My only criticism was the size of the portions, they were too big so we left a lot. Not normally a criticism but I hate leaving food. The sharing nachos with chilli and cheese were yummy!!

My Husband really enjoyed his roast beef but I had chilly and I couldn’t really eat it. It had no flavour, very dry uneatable very salty sorry to say. The desert was was really nice. The chief should have a look at the chilly. Been before and burgers was very nice will come again. What I like is the smaller meals for small eaters like me.

Nicely situated on cliffs near Broadstairs with a great view....pub itself is clean and spacious. We all had either fish and chips or scampi...plenty on the plate and very tasty.

Have always found the staff very attentive and polite. They do not hassle but are in attendance if required. Service was slower than usual but place was quite full, so not unexpected. Food was well presented, hot and ample quantity. Deserts were also very nice but the crumble base was rather over cooked. Why no desert menu on web site page?

We have been every time when staying near by. Wish we could go more often. The food is so good and portions are generous and very good value. The service is great, food is always very good. The only problem I can't eat a three course meal, too full, so choose wisely what you eat! Advise you to book a table at weekends.

Another generally pleasant experience. Exceptionally noisy this time at the kitchen end of the restaurant.
We also noted the waste food bin just inside the kitchen doors which was full and spiiling over the floor which gives concern to hygiene.
Hopefully my comments will be seen as an opportunity to improve.

With our 5 year old granddaughter, who was obviously able to enjoy the soft play area. As well as feeding her, we were able to use the ‘steak meal’ offer.
Prompt service, polite staff AS ALWAYS.
