The Brooklyn is centrally-located in downtown Seattle, directly across the street from the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall and the Seattle Art Museum. We are within easy walking distance of Pike Place Market and Seattle Waterfront.
Our server was really nice. Food was overall good, but some was salty. Calamari was almost inedible. Crabcakes was great. Risotto cake (?) was just disgusting. Tiny side, $11. And $4 for an iced tea?!?
But the most disappointing aspect was the manager. 9pm reservation, she greeted us with no enthusiasm whatsoever. No thanks for coming in, or how are we doing. No, first and only thing she said was we had 30 minutes to order. Then, I noted it was my wife's birthday on the reservation, and NOTHING. I wanted this to be a special occasion for her, but it was nothing of the sort. I left so disappointed and I was so excited. Never will I go to Brooklyn restaurant again.
The Brooklyn is ok, especially for the price, but doesn’t compare to two other nearby steakhouses.
The food was amazing and the service was the better than I could have expected. This was a “must visit” restaurant and we’ll certainly be back when we’re in Seattle again.
We were in Seattle for a few days and a friend recommended this place for a nice dinner out. We were not disappointed and pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding. The service was impeccable. Our waiter Dave was knowledgeable and very attentive. I would highly recommend this place
Food was amazing. We tried the oysters, they were fresh and tasted so good. They were gone in 30 secs! The steak- ribeye and New York were cooked a little rare to our tasting. We ordered medium- somehow they looked medium rare, so we had to send them back. They were played back beautifully. The halibut is a must order! It was buttery and cooked to perfection! We recommend.
Our favorite restaurant in Seattle. The food is wonderful and the staff are outstanding.
Loved the Eagle Rock Oysters!
And enjoyed the lamb. Really good service as they know what they talk about.
Food and service were great. Next time we want to sit in the tall back bar chairs that spin!
Great place calamari was most excellent
Chowder was excellent
Unpleasant smells wafted through the restaurant during the meal. No sides available, just the aspragus and carrots on the plate. No fries. Good selection of oysters.
We were looking for a great steak and seafood restaurant that might be local instead of a nationwide chain. We were not disappointed! The food and service was wonderful. I was dieting and they easily adjusted the halibut for me and kept the sauce on the side. It was so tasty I did not even need it. Everything we had was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Definitely a place to go when visiting Seattle. Enjoyed my food and dessert. Great atmosphere. Great service
First timers and we loved the old mixed with the new. Our waiter was outstanding and the food was delicious. We will be back
Who goes to Seattle to eat at a restaurant called Brooklyn? You do if you love good food. We ate there twice while in Seattle. The food is phenomenal. From the goat cheese ravioli, to the clam chowder to the outstanding crab cake - all were great appetizers. The oyster selection was amazing. The scallops over short ribs, the lamb shank and the steaks were also outstanding. Service was great. Sit at a table. The booths are a little tight. Otherwise, we would eat there any time.
Great experience the waiter had a sense of humor.
Excellent overall food experience and service by Mitch! From the time we hit the door until we left we enjoyed every minute and every bite. Would highly recommend!!
Great lunch for birthday celebrations for me and my good friend!
Great thanks. A little too cool though!
A pleasant evening - service friendly and efficient, environment pretty standard for a steakhouse- menu not bad, wine list solid but not spectacular. Highlight was the halibut special- wonderfully prepared and perfectly cooked- rest of the meal pretty standard. Nice selection of oysters. All told, a good evening but not quite outstanding
Sitting at the Chef’s bar was great, the waiter was very attentive and polite. Great time..
Love this place. Every year when I plan my trip to Seattle, this restaurant is a must. The food is great, the atmosphere is top notch, and the service is exceptional. Would recommend to anyone interested in fine dining in Seattle.
Love the layout of this restaurant, we were fortunate enough to get a large booth in the back. Our waitress was sweet but aloof. We had to summon her a few times for water and drinks. I would book here again because the Scallops were excellent.
Excellent meal. We had the filet and New York strip. Wonderful cuts of meat, cooked to perfection. Expensive but worth every penny. Service was great too. My favorite classic steakhouse in Seattle. Highly recommend this place!
They now charge for bread, which is fine I guess, but it’s served cold. Also feel like it needs to be updated inside. Literally nothing has changed for over 10 years, which would be okay if it wasn’t worn down. Used to be one of our very favorite places to go but after moving away for 5 years, we were really sort of disappointed by the whole thing. They do cook a mean steak though!!!!!!!!!
Awesome food and amazing service.
Food was good. Service was very good.
Food was quite good, but service was very rushed...and not just for us, but seemingly for every table. Wait staff clearly under pressure to turn the tables in an hour or less. I don't mind efficiency, but there is a point at which efficiency turns into a sense that you need to cram your food down so the next customer can get moving. Unfortunate, as the food was quite good.
Fantastic food and service. Their oysters are the some of the freshest I’ve ever had. Great restaurant for before and after the symphony.
Loved every minute spent here. On vacation from FL, has the halibut, mussels appetizer and apple crisp desert too. Wonderful service ambiance and food.
- Excellent fish. Well cooked Salmon and Halibut, in our case. And with Halibut it's easy to cook it dry, so that says something
- Disappointing Crab salad. It was good but I would expect a few more ingredients to enrich it.
- Tiny shell shards in some of our oysters. Nothing dangerous but it shouldn't happen if they call themselves "Oyster House". That put aside, the oysters were very good indeed.
Food was fine, seating adequate. Server was not too friendly and not to dynamic.
Our waiter was not very happy and you could tell. We ordered less than we normally would and left a lot on our plates. It wasn't busy, but service was poor.
We celebrated our 45th anniversary with delicious food and fabulous cocktails. Will definitely be back for our next special occasion.
This place never disappoints. Wonderful service by our server Erick, who was very helpful and spot on with his recommendations. The food is wonderfully prepared. I enjoy the ambience.
My friend and I have been enjoying dinner, and sometimes lunch, at The Brooklyn for about 15 years... two or three times a year. The food is always delicious and the menu is varied, albeit a bit pricey, but well worth the expenditure. It was so very nice to see the scollops back on the menu as a dinner entrée once again. The service is excellent... ALWAYS. Their sense of timing is wonderful... ALWAYS. This is a dining venue for anyone who loves good food, which is well prepared and served with pride. Of course, we will return !!!
I had clam chowder. No one offered pepper or crackers. Or bread. There was no pepper on the table. My husband ordered a full dinner and the portion was very small. Waiter had a strange personality. I think this place has declined a lot, since it no doubt fills up every time there's an event across the street at Benaroya. I think they feel like they don't have to try anymore since the customers flock there regardless.
The food was very good! The service was very good! The way we were treated was outstanding! Everyone was focused on making our dinner a great experience! We arrived early for our reservation after spending a very busy day at Pike's Place Market and were greeted with a smile! The atmosphere was very friendly. My only negative was the price of some of the menu items.
The Seafood was just ok for being on the coast. I wouldn't go again, as there are far better choices. We had the waiter spill a glass of wine on two of us. He did apologize for it, but the restaurant didn't offer anything for it. Not to even pay to have clothing cleaned. Then he brought the wrong wine to the person whose wine he spilled. We said multiple times it wasn't a Pinot (which is what was spilled), but brought a Syrah. That's what another one of us had ordered. It was clear he'd brought a Syrah by how it smelled, but he was adament that it wasn't. Not a great experience and the cost of the food was way over priced for the quality of the food, compared to other seafood restaurants in downtown Seattle.
Great meal! Great restaurant. Will be a definite chive when visiting Seattle.
This establishment has become a must each time that I'm in Seattle. Exceptional food, service, and ambiance. I highly recommend this restaurant!
