The Brooklyn is centrally-located in downtown Seattle, directly across the street from the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall and the Seattle Art Museum. We are within easy walking distance of Pike Place Market and Seattle Waterfront.
I have to say we had the goat cheese stuffed ravioli and the pasta was though. And the halibut we ordered was dry
We had been there once before and loved it. But have to say was very disappointed this time
Excellent food and service. Especially appreciated the small plates menu. Noise mitigated by high back booths and chairs.
Located just two blocks from the harbor but less expensive than restaurants of lesser quality there. Most patrons appeared to be locals.
This establishment has real potential. The environment was really cool, with the high backed swivel chairs overlooking the open kitchen. I had no misconceptions about this place, it's an old school steak house, so I wasn't expecting creative cuisine, so that's not an issue. What was disappointing is the quality of the food. The clam chowder had great taste, but it was only luke warm. It would have benefitted from some hot sauce, but none was offered. Not sure it would have even been available, but that's just personal preference. The most disappointing was the bone-in Ribeye steak. What a wonder cut of meat. The marbling was fantastic and not a hit of cartilage anywhere. But, it was ruined by the overly aggressive seasoning, which seemed to be primarily salt. A good steak doesn't need much (if any) seasoning. This one made my lips sting for a good hour after the meal as they were completely dried out from the salt.
The staff was pleasant, attentive and knowledgable. No complaints there.
Wonderful food. Had clam chowder and the filet mignon. Recommend both
Absolutely Excellent!!!...Best Crab cakes and Creme Brulle ever...
food and menu was scarce...not a lot of menu variety and no bread service at lunch.
I have been coming to The Brooklyn for two decades and typically the food and service is great. Last night I brought a friend from out of town, and I was embarrassed to have selected The Brooklyn. The server was very rude, didn't introduce himself, didn't smile, and rushed us to order and eat. He made it clear that he was annoyed to be serving us. I am not quite sure why people enter this industry if they don't want to be friendly. My friend paid, but if it was me, there would have been no tip.
Out favourite Seattle restaurant
We arrived early and had drinks at the bar. Service and drinks were excellent!! So we had high expectations. Upon being seated everything changed. Our server FINALLY arrived with no greeting. Just a simple, you want anything to drink? At that point all 5 in our party were still drinking our cocktails from the bar so we declined. The server then said, are you ready to order? A bit of time would have been nice as it was multi page menu. A few recommendations would have helped as well. Strange. Guess we should have hurried and decided right then because he didnt return for LONG time. When he finally came back we quickly ordered oysters on the half shell. They arrived and were delicious. Highly recommend those! We then ordered wine and entrees. 2 in our party had the pork chop, 1 had the salmon, both of which were hot and tasty. 2 in our party ordered the scallops which arrived cold to the table. At 40.00 for a 3 scallop entree we felt like this should be corrected. They removed both dishes and brought them back, with same half eaten scallop, all to have it be only a bit warmer. How about a new fresh and hot dish? This dish would have been excellent if it had been at the appropriate temperature. Execution by the kitchen made this dish unacceptable. (Something on the plate must have sat out too long as both people in our party who ordered this became ill about 6 hours later). By this time we had finished our bottle of wine, which by the way we had to pour ourselves, and ordered another. Did I mention, bad service? We poured that bottle as well. Would be nice to have the server pour your wine when your tab is going to exceed 400.00. Wine was very good but service was terrible. The food menu items are pricey particularly the entrees. Add that to the lack of service is the reason for the 2 star rating.. The cocktail, beer and wine menu is very reasonably priced. Good selection as well.
Our first experience was awesome. We had the chicken and it was delicious. Mitch was our server and was on top of things. And the drinks weren’t watered down either. Overall a great 1st experience!
One of my favorite seafood spots in Seattle. We all shared and enjoyed the oyster sampler. The crabcake appetizer was one of the best ever. Very good halibut that night.
Server was nice enough but neglected us the whole time. Had to ask multiple other people to get him or something for us. Never explained which oysters were which. A table close to us was over served. Food was bland, fish was dry, etc. Left much to be desired and we left very underwhelmed and slightly bothered. Absolutely no options for younger children was obnoxious.
We are long time fans of the Brooklyn, but Saturday evening was very special. We were celebrating a birthday for a special friend and the service was superb! We always feel at home there and the staff are warm and totally accommodating. Food was terrific!
2 days since and we have recommended this place to several people. Best oysters in Seattle to top it off
One of our favorites. Never fails to provide excellent drinks, food, service.
The food was bland and very expensive. We had a reservation but were rushed by a grumpy server. Will not be going back.
Fantastic food, with excellent cocktails and attentive service. We had a thoroughly enjoyable eventing.
What a wonderful dining experience. We had a knowledgeable and friendly waiter in Anthony who guided us through our menu selections. My wife had this scrumptious chicken dish called Marys Chicken that was oven roasted and cooked perfectly. The chicken had this marvelous crispy crust that was suggested by Anthony as his favorite dish. I had the Northwest Bouillabaisse which included scallop, mussels, clams, prawn, sausage, roasted, spinach, and dried tomatoes topping a crunchy risotto cake. This wonderful collection of the freshly seafood was exactly what I was looking for in Seattle.
We really enjoyed Brooklyn Seafood. The fish was very fresh. The oysters we excellent. What we really noticed was the service was outstanding. Our waitress was extremely busy when we arrived and we were sitting there concerned about the service. The hostess noticed that we had not been waited on yet and jumped in and waited on us, getting our order and service the drinks and appetizer until the waitress got an opportunity. She did this on her own initiative.
Exception dining experience. Every aspect of the meal was divine!
Wonderful filets. Clam chowder is awesome
Food was good as usual except for my father's club sandwich where the toasted bread was a bit too soggy. Service was excellent and very attentive.
A slow night for them. We had a table for 2 with great fresh oysters then the best in PNW seafood-Alaskan halibut and Skuna Bay king salmon. So good dessert was an afterthought
We will be back
The service was great very friendly and service was quick. Drinks were great as well.
Old school charm with outstanding service, you can always count on the Brooklyn. The cocktail menu is inventive, the small plates are familiar yet inventive, and the main dishes are carefully crafted with amazing flavor and presentation.
Food was fantastic! Servers were pleasant but there was a disconnect between them and the kitchen. We weren't half way through the appetizer when the main course was served. It caught our server off guard and really messed up the order of it drinks and meal. We skipped dessert as they crunched a planned hour+ meal into 45 min.
I liked the ambiance of this place. I had the Superior Farms Lamb with a single Jim Beam whiskey, neat. Heaven. Make reservations for dinner, and be persistent to make sure you're seated on time.
Dinner at a seafood restaurant is mandatory in Seattle and BS,S&O did not disappoint. Had the Halibut.. Excellent. Would recommend to those looking for fine dining in Seattle. Wait staff well trained and experienced.
Great place, great staff, great service and very good food
Relaxed dining in a casual setting. Excellent food served by knowledgeable and personable wait staff.
Great service & great food!
Greatest key lime pie ever ! Brilliant scallops. Good wine selection . Great bartender for happy hour.
Very interesting food. Halibut and pork chop outstanding.
Shrimp appetizer was way too smoky, ravioli appetizer had too much balsamic, halibut dinner was good, heard the exact same welcome over and over from our server to other tables nearby.
I like the calm atmosphere and fresh oysters.
The Brooklyn has the best steaks at reasonable prices. We had the crab salad first which was just fine. My NY steak was a perfect medium rare and very good. Best of all was the service! I had forgotten to bring my readers along but the wait person was thoughtful enough to have me use some "loaners" and that made a world of difference.
We will go back soon!
Food and service was excellent. Waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive.
Amazing food. Attentive staff. My partner and I had a wonderful evening. We will definitely be coming here again.
Every time I go to the Brooklyn I have a wonderful time and leave with a happily full stomach. The service is always impeccable and the cuisine is consistently delicious. The Brooklyn is where I take my family and friends because I know everyone will leave beyond pleased.
