Tucked away on Lillieshall Road, this red brick pub has an airy conservatory for the summer, wood fires for the winter, a Quiz Night on Wednesdays for the cerebral and a dart board at all times for the dextrous!
Great food, quick service, attentive and friendly staff, with a local pub feel. We will be back again.
Sunday Lunch at The Bobbin is always good. I always go for the roast pork, because you get some crackling with it. On a sunny day, the garden at the rear is a nice spot. They always have a couple of well-kept real ales on draught. The Harvey's Best is particularly good
Delicious Sunday roast. Can't wait to visit again soon!
Paella was excellent - not the cheapest place though
Booked I for 7.30 on a Sunday. The vegetables and potatoes seemed like they had been cooked for a while and were unpleasant. The roast beef was good and plentiful whilst the chicken was just ok albeit expensive for what it was. I doubt I would eat there again although I do like the pub
The food was great, when it came to pay, they said they didn’t accept AMEX, it’s says on this site they do. This should be corrected.
Service was very slow. We waited ages for our main course.
Poor service, with preoccupied staff, perhaps because it’d been a full day. The ravioli was tasteless and the highlight was the portion of fries. Disappointing.
While the food was relatively tasty the service was very slow. It took almost 2 hours to get our main course delivered to the table from the time we ordered.
The beef roast dinner was potentially the best roast I have ever eaten. Already recommended to all my friends and will definitely be returning.
I've eaten Sunday lunch at The Bobbin a few times and I like the atmosphere and the food. One thing that lets it down is the service. We waited over an hour for the food and when it did finally arrive we didn't even get an apology. I was hosting my birthday lunch so it was disappointing.
Best Irish coffee (I had a second) in south london
The food quality and service far exceeds your average pub. Indeed this is a gourmet experience at very reasonable prices. The waiter was charming and the food ordered came very quickly. This is probably the best pub eating experience we have had to date and would recommend without hesitation. Definitely need to book though.
Always delicious food and great customer service. Thank you!
The food is passable, the service is poor. Would not visit again.
Our experience was so shocking I’m considering never going back. The staff were clearly extremely unhappy, uninterested in their job and thoroughly unpleasant and unprofessional. At the end of dinner the male member of staff actually scraped of all the food in front of us onto plates and edged one of our guests out of the way to do so. The staff never smiled, they made us all feel uncomfortable and even after complaining to the Manager we were left feeling as though no one cared less, disgusting and disgraceful service and behaviour.
Service was not great.
We were seated in the bar area, no waiting staff informed us that the kitchen was closing 15 minutes after we arrived at our booking for lunch.
Waiting staff consistently took a long time to visit the table with menu’s, drinks, taking orders and the bill. Each time they had to be flagged down.
Really disappointing experience as I’ve been previously several times and it was always a great experience
Lovely, lively pretty pub with nice atmosphere that isn't too noisy and joy of joys no horrible background music. The food was generally okay on the night (a very busy Saturday) but the pasta ravioli I chose was definitely not freshly made and was therefore a little bit rubbery and the filling wasn't so great (pumpkin) and overall the dish was slightly oily. I wouldn't pick it again. My companion's dish (risotto with asparagus & egg) was really lovely according to my companion. Everything else was good and the server super sweet new recruit, going the extra mile.
great meal (both pasta dish are amazing) but not convinced about the meze plater and the crumble is not a crumble as the "biscuit" layer is solely powder with no chunks
Really lovely staff. Patient and friendly. Great food. Good choices on the menu. Great garden.
Lovely space with great food.
Great gastropub experience with food to match. Well worth a visit.
First time visit. Dull decor, wall in blue restaurant area could do with some pictures instead of the 3 small, wonky mirrors hanging there. It was cold and draughty sat in eating area nearest door and I don’t think there was any heating on. Serving staff were okay but bar staff quite disinterested. Wine list good. Food sounded much better on the menu than it turned out to be. Ingredients seemed reasonable quality but not cooked very well. Roast potatoes were dry and tasteless (felt like microwaved) and roast chicken had some weird spicy rub on it which tasted like cheap curry powder.
Not absolutely awful but felt like a just about average pub but significantly above average prices.
I come here quite often for Sunday Roast and it was not a good experience last Sunday. Sunday roast was full of chili flakes! It took quite some time to pick them off the plate but of course the whole jus tasted like chili then too. I don't know what had happened but it ruined the whole experience. Who puts chili flakes to Sunday roast? First time I've ever experienced something like this.
Also the service is always slow and you need to work for attention, shame really.
Lots of natural light. Food pretty good - classic modern fare. Wine, beer and cider selection notably good inc still cider. Service decent yet not invasive. Was a little dishevelled from an earlier lunch service (we arrived at 1430) but I'm sure this wouldn't be the case if arriving earlier.
We went to The Bobbin for a roast last Sunday and the food was excellent. We had a Roast Beef and a Roast Pork and both were delicious - highlights were the meat and the gravy, and the veg was also good. However, the service was very disappointing. The staff were not personable or friendly and we did not feel welcomed. When we arrived and asked for our reservation, we were told to 'go find the empty two person table'. Nobody asked if we enjoyed our meal or if we needed anything else / any more drinks. Very disappointed.
Fantastic Sunday roast! The gravy on my beef was the best I've ever tasted, and the meat was cooked perfectly.
Pretty good roast dinner, lovely atmosphere and although not cheap, perfectly acceptable. However the service was abysmal. Real shame
Good lunch spot, food was great and the service was quick and friendly
I've been going to the Bobbin for years and went this weekend for my boyfriend's birthday along with some friends. The staff were rude, unfriendly and made us feel like an inconvenience. Really disappointed as I normally move going to the Bobbin. The service did improve when the evening staff arrived.
Lovely meal for a friends birthday, food was excellent. Service was a little slow at times, but as we were there for the evening it didn’t make a difference. Much better than feeling rushed! We had a great night, thank you.
Warm, welcoming staff and delicious fresh food. A great place for taking time over a good meal and enjoying unrushed, private conversation with friends or family.
The food was absolutely fantastic, however the service very slow and it was difficult to get their attention. The pub was not full so not sure what was the reason behind this. I would definitely go back for the food though.
I've been to the Bobbin before and really enjoyed it but this time, we were given a table inside despite there being a lot of availability in the conservatory and outside and no one inside. Once I asked to move I was told we could have 'any free table' so found it a bit strange that we weren't put there originally. The food was OK but our starter came with some clingfilm still on it, suggesting it wasn't fresh. We tried to get the waiter's attention but it took so long we gave up. OK food but not worth the money in my opinion, which I'm disappointed to say as I loved it first time round.
They haven’t changed the menu in ages which makes going there regularly quite boring. It was a sunny lunchtime so our children were in the outside space which had only two other people in it. They were sitting quietly at a table for most of the time but the manager, (who had apparently been asked by the owner who had just arrived) asked them to come in and sit down at their own table. When we asked why, he said it wasn’t a children’s play area and for ‘health and safety reasons’. We complained on the way out while having to step over the many dogs in the bar, which are apparently more welcome than children. It’s Clapham guys, children live here!
Outstanding food - I had veggie main (which I don't usually go for). The squid starter was beautifully tender/tasty and cauliflower risotto was AMAZING - could have eaten my dish ten times over. Attentive staff (although we were end of a busy lunch time sitting on a Saturday and I think they were trying to wrap this up before the rugby really kicked off - front of house was v busy with the big screen). Highly recommend this for a relaxed, delicious, friendly lunch - 100% going back for more.
Food was nice - Sunday Roasts really good but we were stood around waiting to be seated and then didn't get given any attention or menu for some time. Service really lets this place down!
Great food and a lovely family/dog friendly atmosphere.
The roast was good but not great value for money ie it wasn’t amazing considering the price. The Yorkshire pudding was disappointing... v tough.
food always delicious
