Perfect place to meet up with old friend ...
Perfect place to meet up with old friends that we had not seen for a while. Excellent friendly, relaxed environment. Staff pleasant and professional and knowledgeable about the food. The food was very tasty, well cooked and presented. A very enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back. It could easily become our go-to place when we visit Edinburgh.

The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Unfortunately the waitress was inexperienced & didn't know about the food, however she was very friendly. The bad thing about this restaurant is that it is cold. This is the third time I have visited here & each time, despite the radiator being hot & a small fan heater on, we have been cold.

We have been here before, too long a gap. Food fabulous and really impressed our visitors. Only gripe that it was a very cold day and weren't warm enough.
It always feels a really discovery, slightly off the usual routes, small, intimate, nicely spaced tables.

New Year's Eve! Very important to get to the street party on time! Restaurant 15 minutes late clearing previous customer. Restaurant full with 7 course tasting, very nice food, unfortunately we didn't clear out on time and missed the street party - £50! Seemed harassed and short of time for so many courses and more than one sitting. Food was interesting but service fell short.

Dined with a party of 5 and we were all very impressed with the food. We ordered 5 different entrees and we were all very impressed with the flavor profiles of each dish. We were also equally impressed with the appetizers as well. Service was attentive and our server was very pleasant. Would recommend for anyone looking for very creative dishes.

We had a very enjoyable dinner with good food , ambience and service. A litle cramped as large party was placed next to us in the back room and the waitresses had to force their way past us to get to them. The food was good but a little sparse. Particularly the desert. An error was made on the bill where the desert was charged twice.

Good food and outstanding service makes this restaurant one I would return to on a regular basis. I also like the decor and the fact we could chat without loud music or noise. Slightly more expensive than average for lunch but you get what you pay for and the quality of the ingredients and cooking still make it good value for money in my view.

The positives are definitely the food, which was inventive, delicious and very attractively presented. We also enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant which is small with a nice buzz to it. The service was very friendly with staff working hard to ensure that you have a pleasant dining experience.
The time between each course was very long though. A lot of people had ordered the taster menu on the evening we were there and it was clear that the kitchen were struggling to keep up with orders; staff were having to apologise for delays throughout the evening. We personally prefer a leisurely meal to a rushed one so initially were not too worried but after a 3.5 hour meal (we arrived at 7.30) we ended up leaving before the last course had been served, to take our taxi home. A shame that it ended in a rush as it was really a lovely meal.
I would recommend but just be prepared for slow service if it is a busy night.

Rather dingy interior in unprepossesing street.Plenty of empty tables on a Friday lunchtime.Bread was neither toasted ,fresh nor properly dried so gave the impression of being stale.Looked like rye but didn't taste of anything.Served with an emulsion of oil and vinegar -nasty!Tiny starter served on a huge plate.Lovely cod but something very bitter on the plate.Decided to skip desert and go to somewhere where the food is less stylised and more tasty.
