A little gem and full of surprises. It's the location that might be to it's disadvantage [blink and you'll miss it] but be assured that the food more than makes up for this once you are there.
A modern balanced menu that has been carefully thought about and presented, offering something to all tastes. A very polite and helpful staff come to the aid of those of us not quite au fait with all the various elements that help compose each dish.
This is the sort of place you go to when you are interested in food and appreciate the 'art' of how it is put together in careful complimenting combinations.
Portion size is precise, so a three-course selection is recommended in order to enjoy and fully complete the occasion.
The prices are on the upper side, but this is accepted as a reflection of the input that has gone into each dish.
Definitely one to visit again, but kept as a 'special'
Food was unexpected! Original & brilliant! Been to Edinburgh twice & The Atelier was hands down the best restaurant we've been to. Maybe even one of the best dinner places I have ever been to at all!
Came to Edinburgh and only had time for one dinner out, so happy it was here! We did the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing and it was such a lovely experience. The staff was lovely, very enthusiastic, and the food was fabulous. A very wonderful meal and the wine pairings were great. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice dinner in Edinburgh!
Staff were so friendly and helpful, food was really nice but would not say it was worth the money that we paid.
Pleasant lunch. Creative food and attentive service. However I am unsure how a business lunch advertised as <£10 per head ended up being £100 for 4 with no alcohol?
Excellent food and very friendly service . Parmesan ice cream amazing !
Enjoyable meal at The Atelier. Menu is short but still enough variety to find something. Only real blemish was the chocolate cake desert which tasted lovely but was served on a rutted piece of glass that was impossible to eat from and just made a mess – get it changed!
Always a stunning meal. Really imaginative food and the tasting menu was a true voyage of discovery through a wonderful selection of dishes. Lovely fish and amazing chocolate based desserts. Our favourite place to eat in Edinburgh.
Fab lunch before the Scotland v. Wales rugby match. Excellent food, presentation and service. Very good value for money. Will definitely use again when in Edi.
Delightful lunch . Beautiful ingredients put together with care and style. Great value menu
The restaurant advertised itself as being good for an intimate dining experience but during our second course a 16 person table was set up for a noisy hen party. We left after the second course as the arrival of this party ruined our special occasion and no doubt that of other couples dining in the small dining room. This was a pity because the food and wine were good but the restaurant should not pretend to be one thing and then actually be something completely different.
The food was excellent and the staff were brilliant and very attentive. This is a hidden gem on Morrisons street and I would definitely recommend it as a great place to eat.
Perfect place to meet up with old friends that we had not seen for a while. Excellent friendly, relaxed environment. Staff pleasant and professional and knowledgeable about the food. The food was very tasty, well cooked and presented. A very enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back. It could easily become our go-to place when we visit Edinburgh.
Will definitely be back here - love this place and will be back.
Recommended to me by a friend and I was not disappointed.
Everything about the visit was first class. Beautifully presented food and a helpful friendly waitress. Will definitely be back
Excellent place. Good ambience, food was exceptional with great attention to detail. All dishes were delicious. Wine selection was good. Friendly service and very efficient. Will definitely book again.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Unfortunately the waitress was inexperienced & didn't know about the food, however she was very friendly. The bad thing about this restaurant is that it is cold. This is the third time I have visited here & each time, despite the radiator being hot & a small fan heater on, we have been cold.
The best meal I've ever had. Incredible food. Our second visit and just as good as last time 2 years ago. Just wow.
Advice given on choosing from the menu was excellent. The service and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. We have been to this restaurant on three separate occasions and never been disappointed!
Wonderful place, will definitely be back. Delicious meals beautifully presented, good value for the quality of the food.
We have been here before, too long a gap. Food fabulous and really impressed our visitors. Only gripe that it was a very cold day and weren't warm enough.
It always feels a really discovery, slightly off the usual routes, small, intimate, nicely spaced tables.
Hogmanay dinner with friends. We had the Hogmanay dinner which was 6 delicious courses. All imaginative and served with humour and attention to detail. Will certainly return.
New Year's Eve! Very important to get to the street party on time! Restaurant 15 minutes late clearing previous customer. Restaurant full with 7 course tasting, very nice food, unfortunately we didn't clear out on time and missed the street party - £50! Seemed harassed and short of time for so many courses and more than one sitting. Food was interesting but service fell short.
We had tasting menu on Hogmanay. It was very busy, but food and service were really good and we didn't feel at all hurried. We'll go back.
Fabulous food. Lovely staff. Great wine menu. Need I say more. Great place for a catchup.
Amazing food with surprising combinations. Very small restaurant with limited seeting so reservation is advised. Absolutely worth it!
Don't usually write reviews but considering the food and service wanted to highlight this restaurant food was fantastic so was the service
This is my third visit and certainly won't be my last. The food is amazing and beautifully presented. The Staff are so friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Would thoroughly recommend it!
Excellent service and wonderful food, the goats cheese soufflé was memorable.
As I was 8 months pregnant the chef and staff were kind enough to check pre-meals that it was suitable and also amended the menu for me.
Dined with a party of 5 and we were all very impressed with the food. We ordered 5 different entrees and we were all very impressed with the flavor profiles of each dish. We were also equally impressed with the appetizers as well. Service was attentive and our server was very pleasant. Would recommend for anyone looking for very creative dishes.
Really cosy & intimate. Food was fantastic with a complimentary amous bouche. Faultless.
Very expensive for what is provided, food is attempting to be gourmet but suspect quality of ingredients doesn't match chef's aspirations. Beef was lacking in taste which for Scotland is unforgivable.
Very relaxed meal. Excellent food and value for money
Outstanding food, creative use of cocoa and chocolate. Very friendly service.
We have been several times before and each time the food has been excellent and interesting. Staff are friendly and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Nice small restaurant with very good food. Perfect place meet up.
Excellent food and service a new jam on the Edinburgh restaurant scene
Visited a number of times before in the evening. This time was for lunch. Same fantastic standards of service and food. Great value and will definitely keep returning.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with good food , ambience and service. A litle cramped as large party was placed next to us in the back room and the waitresses had to force their way past us to get to them. The food was good but a little sparse. Particularly the desert. An error was made on the bill where the desert was charged twice.
