The Atelier Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
A little gem and full of surprises. It's the location that might be to it's disadvantage [blink and you'll miss it] but be assured that the food more than makes up for this once you are there.
A modern balanced menu that has been carefully thought about and presented, offering something to all tastes. A very polite and helpful staff come to the aid of those of us not quite au fait with all the various elements that help compose each dish.
This is the sort of place you go to when you are interested in food and appreciate the 'art' of how it is put together in careful complimenting combinations.
Portion size is precise, so a three-course selection is recommended in order to enjoy and fully complete the occasion.
The prices are on the upper side, but this is accepted as a reflection of the input that has gone into each dish.
Definitely one to visit again, but kept as a 'special'
Came to Edinburgh and only had time for one dinner out, so happy it was here! We did the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing and it was such a lovely experience. The staff was lovely, very enthusiastic, and the food was fabulous. A very wonderful meal and the wine pairings were great. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice dinner in Edinburgh!
Enjoyable meal at The Atelier. Menu is short but still enough variety to find something. Only real blemish was the chocolate cake desert which tasted lovely but was served on a rutted piece of glass that was impossible to eat from and just made a mess – get it changed!
The restaurant advertised itself as being good for an intimate dining experience but during our second course a 16 person table was set up for a noisy hen party. We left after the second course as the arrival of this party ruined our special occasion and no doubt that of other couples dining in the small dining room. This was a pity because the food and wine were good but the restaurant should not pretend to be one thing and then actually be something completely different.
Perfect place to meet up with old friends that we had not seen for a while. Excellent friendly, relaxed environment. Staff pleasant and professional and knowledgeable about the food. The food was very tasty, well cooked and presented. A very enjoyable evening and we will definitely be back. It could easily become our go-to place when we visit Edinburgh.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented. Unfortunately the waitress was inexperienced & didn't know about the food, however she was very friendly. The bad thing about this restaurant is that it is cold. This is the third time I have visited here & each time, despite the radiator being hot & a small fan heater on, we have been cold.
We have been here before, too long a gap. Food fabulous and really impressed our visitors. Only gripe that it was a very cold day and weren't warm enough.
It always feels a really discovery, slightly off the usual routes, small, intimate, nicely spaced tables.
New Year's Eve! Very important to get to the street party on time! Restaurant 15 minutes late clearing previous customer. Restaurant full with 7 course tasting, very nice food, unfortunately we didn't clear out on time and missed the street party - £50! Seemed harassed and short of time for so many courses and more than one sitting. Food was interesting but service fell short.
Dined with a party of 5 and we were all very impressed with the food. We ordered 5 different entrees and we were all very impressed with the flavor profiles of each dish. We were also equally impressed with the appetizers as well. Service was attentive and our server was very pleasant. Would recommend for anyone looking for very creative dishes.
We had a very enjoyable dinner with good food , ambience and service. A litle cramped as large party was placed next to us in the back room and the waitresses had to force their way past us to get to them. The food was good but a little sparse. Particularly the desert. An error was made on the bill where the desert was charged twice.
