We had a wonderful meal. Smoked trout appetizer was so good. The main courses, beef short rib and duck, more than enough as a main course. Great wait staff, and drinks.
Just ok. Waited a very very long time for a reserved table. When I asked the hostess what the problem was she said she thought I was waiting for the rest of my party I explained that I had told her 20 mins, 10 mins, and 5 mins before— for a total of 3 times. We were seated at a horrible table in the full sun against a glass partitioned wall where the diners at the same table were partially separated by those partitions. It was hell to get in and out of those seats
The food was decent. The wild mushroom toast was fabulous, but overall I don’t know why this restaurant is considered a big deal. It’s okay but pricy
Nice atmosphere, good food, most of the staff were pleasant.
My boyfriend and I had dinner here for his birthday. The service was outstanding, the staff were great and extremely attentive. I loved the service and ambiance. The appetizers were really good, we had the garlic shrimp and the lump crab cake, both very tasty. Then for main courses I had the rack of lamb, I asked for it to be well but not too over cooked, it came out still pink and I had to send it back to be cooked some more. It came back better but still pink. I think if they cooked it better I would’ve been more satisfied. My boyfriend had the pork chop and he said it was good just could’ve used some more flavor(gave 4 starts on food simply because of the main, the apps and dessert make up for the rest). I also had the guava margarita which was really good. Then we had the birthday cake slice which our server gave to us complimentary since it was his birthday, we really appreciated that. This place is absolutely worth the visit!
My husband and I were visiting from Texas and we both had the best experience at Tavern on the Green. From the atmosphere to the staff, the entire visit was exceptional and we will definitely tell others about this establishment. We ordered off the brunch menu on Sunday and our choices were delicious. We reserved a time and were seated fairly quickly even though they were quite busy. We never felt rushed and enjoyed our time there. The decor is absolutely beautiful!
How great to Dine alfresco in the middle of October. We did some research on the dress code and adhered to it. Too many of our dining companions did not. Food and service were exemplary
A great place to go for Sunday Brunch before a stroll in Central Park.
the waiter wasnt very friendly...guess he was having a bad day!
Had to ask server to refil water - frittata was rubber and barely warm - almost sent it back but had no time
doubt will return
Have only had brunch at Tavern on the Green but was very good.
Celebrated my birthday here. A classic NYC restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere and yummy food. Great place for a family brunch.
Tavern on the Green is iconic. If you have the opportunity, go! Wonderful service, great food. Hope to visit again.
I have been wanting to go here for years. It was worth the wait! Absolutely extraordinary experience. Every course was beyond delicious. I can’t wait to come back!
We had a nice night. We had reserved a bar table specifically but on arrival we were told that only included the indoor bar.
We visited this iconic restaurant during a recent visit to NY. We loved the ambiance; however, the service left a bit to be desired. While water was served seconds after we were seated, our drink order got lost in the shuffle. We ordered an appetizer that never came to the table until we asked where it was when our entrees were served. My roasted vegetable entree was missing the salmon I added. The server blamed everything on the kitchen and the bar. We did, however, enjoy the complimentary slice of birthday cake they served my husband!
We ate here after our wedding ceremony in Central Park. I requested a private table with a good view. View was good but no privacy whatsoever. Cocktails were tasty and strong. Service was excellent, but the food reminded me of hotel or cafeteria food - no seasoning and poor quality. The only thing that was high quality was the $30 Lump Crab meat appetizer we ordered, go figure. They also thoughtfully brought us a celebratory dessert on the house, which was very unexpected and nice. Overall, great service and thoughtful staff but the food needs a definite improvement in quality, originality and at the very least some salt and pepper😕
como siempre tavern es un excelente lugar para comer ligero un brunch de fin de semana con un ambiente muy familiar y agradable... para después de un paseo en Bici por Central Park definitivamente la mejor opción
Sat outside and it was outstanding.
Tyler was our waiter. He was excellent. The weather was great, the food was fantastic and the service perfect. Thanks much for a wonderful meal.
A legendary place with great service, amazing food and fantastic atmosphere.
The food was not as good as in the past--could be just this evening or perhaps it's just not as good. The setting of the restaurant is its best feature.
Good to be back at this iconic restaurant. Food was fine but not great for the cost. Thing is, you can’t have a better location.
Tavern on the Green never disappoints! The patio is absolutely beautiful and the food and service are always top notch!
So happy to be able to eat once again at the iconic Tavern on the Green. Everything was perfect - - ambiance, service and, of course, one of the best meals I have ever eaten from first course to dessert. Thanks for a wonderful memory to take back to California.
Wonderful service and an excellent meal! This was my first visit and will be the first one of many in the future. I loved everything about the experience and I cannot wait to go back!
The place is beautiful. Attention from the waitress was excellent, food was amazing, exeeded my expectations.
Would not do again. Went because we were celebrating a b/day to make it special. They did NOTHING to make it special even though they ask if you are celebrating anything special. We had to ask for them to refill our water glasses, which I feel you should not have to ask! The food was okay, over-priced for what you get. I regret making reservations there. We did eat in the green room, but I had to ask....they were going to seat us outside. I found the people not so friendly. The server started out good, then went down before we finished. The server was not attentive as she should have been. So really, eating there was a big disappointment.
nice lunch, my fathers 83 b day
limited menu that was good but not special
Beautiful place, will go back again. My only bone to pick was that we ordered a steak for two special as medium, but they brought us a rare steak. It barely had a sear on it. I could have sent it back but I felt bad because they already cut it up. Tasted good but too rare!
Our server was amazing and the food was outstanding. This was our first meal in NYC and completely worth the cost.
Everyone says don't go to Tavern on the Green because it's just a tourist restaurant, but we enjoy going every time we are in NYC. We both had the lamb chops with roasted carrots and broccoli and they were excellent. The stacked trout appetizer wasn't anything special, seemed mostly like shredded lettuce. I only deducted points from the ambience and overall experience bcause we were seated next to the ceiling to floor glass wall leading to the outdoor patio and it was quite cool that evening and the area was too cold for my liking. We were not given the option to move and I had to eat with my coat around my shoulders however, we will always return here because it has become our NYC tradition, just make sure we are not by the window wall if it is cold outside.
Amazing food and service and ambiance! Love this place for a special night out.
Good service overall. The only downside was the fact the indoor seating ares was too cold. We overheard the heater unit was not working, so it would be nice to have that fixed prior to fall/winter season to not deal with theses issues in the middle of fall.
There are cozy warmer areas by the bar, however, no tables to dine in a warmer area.
Food was very tasty (although it got cold quickly). Friendly staff.
There was not much lobster in the Daily Special, Lobster Pot Pie. And the room is chilly by the windows. But, the ambience and service were great.
I have a 3 star based solely on the women who sat us at our table. She tried to squeeze 5 of us us in a table for 4. We asked to move to a larger table and her attitude and mood did a 360 - like how dare we ask to be comfortable for our meal. She came back and she agreed to move ya to a table for 6 which was lovely and comfortable for all our plates, etc. the restaurant never filled up and there were plenty of seats. Not the first time I’ve had to ask to be moved here - unless your a NYer in a suit they treat you like trash and we pay the same prices for the meal. TOURISTS BEWARE!! Hold your ground!!!
The service and food are incredible!!
Very good although there were some misses. Ordered a dozen blue points at $4 each. NONE of them were released from their shells prior to serving. I have a bit of a problem having to pick a $4 oyster from it’s shell with a seafood fork because it tears all apart. The other miss was the temp in the crystal room. It was super cold even after others started filling the room. Service was good as our server was training someone. Entrees were very good, salmon and sea bass, and the crab salad was delish. The building and restaurant itself is stunning. So glad this icon has been rebooted.
It was great. Loved the food and our waitress was great. Even gave us some info about the city. Highly recommend
The pretty setting couldn’t make up for the poor food at this price point. How is this chef not embarrassed to put out this food and charge so much for it? Go to Jean George instead and have a superb dining experience.
Amazing bucket list type of experience! The service was impeccable right from the front hostesses who wished my mom a happy birthday to our waitress Angela!
We had the best time at lunch celebrating a birthday and the service was impeccable, our waitress was amazing...
