That’s when Walt Disney and his animators, set designers and crews would trek out between takes for a bite and a refreshment. So often in fact, the Tam was once dubbed “the studio commissary.” Join us and see why the Tam is said to have been Walt’s favorite restaurant.

Great outdoor ambience with best Prime Rib around!
Beautifly decorated outside area, slightly limited menu and a server with little personality
A local institution for decades. Old school at its best☺
First time at this restaurant. The service and atmosphere was excellent. The prime rib was an unusual cut. It was a little thin though it was on the bone. I would have preferred a more traditional slice. The creamed corn was excellent!
Have been ther monthly because of the patio services we luv it💜💜💜
The Tam is one of our favorite restaurants. We love the ambiance, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is great.
Happy to find out that Tam's still open - they have tents for miles, and plenty of room for a Friday night treat. The service was excellent, despite having to get everything in little serving cups, and staff was its usual friendly self. The patio menu doesn't include Toad in a Hole, which was disappointing to my wife, but my prime rib was great, and Barb liked her wine, and the fish and chips were good. Still a treat, and one of the few atmospheric places that managed to bring the atmosphere outside.
Tam O’Shanter is one of my favorite restaurants, especially if you love prime rib. They have other options (fish, chicken, vegetarian dishes). During this pandemic, they are taking all precautions to keep employees and guests safe. They have patio seating. I highly recommend.
We’ve never been disappointed with the food or service.
It was a great meal and we had a nice time at the restaurant. Our meals were wonderful and there was plenty of it!
Besides the hostess being rude and not personable, the experience was nice. The outside patio is lovely and the food is good, although they ran out of the filet. I say give it a try.
Hostess was rude and unfriendly. Wait staff was also fairly rude and unfriendly. Table server was great however. I used to visit Tam all the time and as a Disney studio employe loved the history. But things seemed to have changed and I won't be back after being so poorly received by your outdoor hostess.
Social distancing was perfect! Excellent service! My prime rib was bloody and blood got on the side dishes. Wished it was served separately.
I checked in at the drive through check in and instead of being greeted with Good evening, May I help you, I was told the rest of your party isn’t here, you have to wait. I replied, the rest of my party is seated on the back seat. This same person escorted us to a table in silence and didn’t ask if this table was ok or at least say enjoy your dinner. There were only four other parties seated in the patio with plenty of available tables. We were seated at a small table by the employee entrance. I have no idea why this person seated us there when the place wasn’t busy but maybe it had to do that we were POC. The waitress was attentive. Food was good but portions were smaller than the last time I was there in December. Upon leaving we had to pass by the check in area and again there was no acknowledgement from these people at check in area. They could have at least had the courtesy to say Thank you for coming or Have a nice evening. Also for being a host this person was dressed very sloppy. We paid a good amount of $$$ that evening and it’s unfortunate that these people aren’t grateful to their customers who pay their wages especially during this pandemic. They’re lucky to still have a job.
They have done a very good job during Covid having a very nice experience. The food was very good and hot and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely go back
They have made the outside dining a magical experience.
Twinkling lights. Festive decor.
Great service from Grey. Always great food.
The old fashion was fantastic
Always a great place
Now if they can figure a way to have carolers. perfect holiday spot
Love the outdoor space and holiday decor. Very unique brunch menu with alcoholic cold brew coffees. Staff were very attentive.
I love Lawry's and the Tam, but this experience was sub par from the limited menu to the service to the stale bread.
Tam O'Shanter has always been a favorite and its pandemic era hospitality did not disappoint. Super service, great food, lovely ambiance.
Very nice and comfortable setting. Felt very safe with all the protocalls that have to be in place. Glad that the patio area was thought of 2 years ago, working out well now.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. My husband had the prime rib and I had the fish and chips. Both meals were excellent and we enjoyed dining outside! The provisions for dining outdoors was very comfortable.
Beautiful ambience. Heaters throughout. Service was excellent.
The fish and chips were quite good, though I would've liked a greater variety of choices on the menu -- but maybe the menu had to be reduced at this time. Our server was attentive and polite -- all good. - Would've been nice in the November evening to have one more heat lamp available?
Our dinner at the Tam was fantastic: our meals were delicious, and our server, friendly, and attentive. While it is outdoor seating only, they have added a tent and outdoor heaters to their patio area to help protect from the elements. That said, we kept our coats on for the entire meal.
I made reservations ahead of time and and once I got there. We were seated down quick. The service was fast and the staff was amazing. Super clean as well and super cute for outside patio. I will be coming back with my fiancé more often.
We were able to get seated early. Great outdoor seating with heat lamps. The menu is condensed and not all items are available.
Covid safe outdoor dining.
This dining felt unsafe during Covid. Tables do not seem to be 6 feet apart. Be careful before you dine here!
I was so pleased to see the ol' Tam'o Shatner make the adjustments for covid without losing their charm. You can park for free in their back lot and they have the side patio covered and set up for dinning. They had the fire place on and the tall space heaters out. We did not notice the weather at all.
If anything eating on the outside patio near the fire place was more in keeping with their old school vibe. The food was excellent and served promptly. My wine glass was never empty and my date and I left fat and happy.
I need to back again soon. I love that place.
Ordered a filet mignon it was sent out raw. The waiter was apologetic and brought out a second filet 15 minutes later and it was not a good cut of meat. It was hard to cut and not seasoned. It was just not a great experience. My sister got fish and chips and the fish was soggy.
disappointed that I wasn't award points for this reservation, also they never refilled or ask to refill water or ice teas during our lunch.
The foods and our server were great. But the helper of the restaurant was rude and we were uncomfortable.
Tam O’Shanter has banned corkage.
Wonderful wait staff, fabulous food and great drinks. Love the Tam’!
We have been customers of the Tam O’Shanter for many years, but we go there much less frequently these days. The beef was very tender in years past, but now it seems to be of at a choice/select level. We still enjoy the Yorkshire pudding and the cream corn.
The service has deteriorated somewhat since the old days. We had to ask for things like pepper for the salad; set ups for the entree because they took the fork and knife away after we finished the salads; steak knives (the beef was a bit tough and had some gristle in it); more bread; empty drink glasses; etc. two or more times. The busboys have not been assisting the wait staff as in years past, which has contributed to the poor service.
We do enjoy the outdoor ambiance, which is why we went there to continue our weeklong anniversary celebration. Truth be told, we were in the area already. By the way, they do not do anything special for special occasions.
You can't go wrong here with the prime rib... I love this place so much and the tables are spaced out so nicely on the patio.
Great service staff. Tables well spaced apart. Lunch was delicious.
Always outstanding. We enjoy the patio, but can't wait until we're able to go back inside.
A variety of smaller brunch dishes and some unusual appetizers on the menu, as well as their trademark prime rib entrees. The new patio is delightful and we found it relaxing. This is one of the best restaurants in the northeast L.A. area.
It was a wonderful experience celebrating my 70th birthday in my favorite restaurant, Tam O’Shanter. Even though we are all going through difficult times due to COVID, the staff was amazing. Always checking to make sure we were ok. Most of all, we (6 of us) felt safe. The management and staff took all precautions. The best prime rib in LA. Can’t wait to go back.
