Unwind after work with a glass of wine or craft beer from our new menu as day becomes evening. Sway's Open Plan Kitchen and Diner Serves a range of made to order fresh Pizzas, tapas Style small plates ideal for sharing and a selection of mains and dishes for Dinner.
Five of us went for dinner not realising it is a club. The bar area was busy and we were seated away from this in the seated area - no other diners were in our area but it didn’t detract from the ambiance.
The staff were friendly especially the host at front of house - he was extremely welcoming. Overall the food was good. One of our party had the vegetarian burrito and queried that it might contain meat. The waitress looked into this and chef came to reassure my friend there was definitely no meat - you could tell he really cared about this. The Evening was fun and low key being a Wednesday. It probably would have been a whole different night if we had gone on a Friday or Saturday.
We ordered 2 pizzas and a pasta. The pasta was decent but the pizzas were not good at all. Terrible crust. The Mac & Cheese pizza was tasteless. We didn't realize it was a burlesque club. The rest of the patrons were hen parties. Would probably be more fun to go with a group of friends. Don't get the pizza!
Me and my 19yr old daughter booked for a pre show meal. Food service and overall experience was world class.
Well situated for theatre meals, stylish setting. Comfort food unfortunatelt only moderately executed
Good food and excellent service and very good value for money.
We arrived for our reservation for 7 pm. We were told at about 7:15 that we had to vacate our table by 8:30 for a private party but could go down stairs.
We ordered some starters as we were waiting for another friend.
Food was ok but the waitress stood and watched us eat whilst we finished our food.
Best thing was free prosecco which was a deal on the open table.
Terrible service and I wouldn’t come again
After a little confusion and poor communication between the sales office and floor staff, the evening manager made sure that my group of 36 were well watered and entertained.
Great customer service and well equipped for a leaving party.
Went for pre theatre food. Awful prosecco, tasteless fish and chips (obv frozen), chicken caesar salad with flabby chicken and no anchovies. People clearly go for the cabaret and the thrill of dressing up in burlesque corsetry not for the cuisine..
Went for bottomless pizza and prosecco - great value! They aren’t stingey with the prosecco and give you it a bottle at a time which is rare. It’s a busy after work bar - busy and loud so not ideal if you want a quiet dinner with friends. Would definitely go again for this deal!
My fiancée and I went before the theatre on Valentine's Day this year. Lovely place. The food was good value and tasty, ambience was upbeat and chilled, service was good. The lady serving us was actually kind enough to point out a special offer on the menu. Would go back.
Great music. Attentive waiters. We were there for my birthday and only left at 4am.
The reservation was only listed with OpenTable as the name so they didn’t believe we had one, until I mentioned it was booked through opentable, then they assumed that must be us. As we had not paid a deposit (not an option on opentable or mentioned on the website) we were ‘put on the other side’ where we were graciously offered free entry to the restaurant rather than the bar (which I booked for).
There happened to be what seemed a private event going on in which 3 tables had identical birthday songs with blazing candle fireworks. The DJ seemed to just blare out family party music at full volume which made it impossible to talk and so we had an honestly great tasting cocktail and left.
I genuinely believe that it was just handled wrong as two people in front of us were allowed in the bar without a reservation but this option was not given to us, I would have been quite happy to have paid upfront and be treated like a person.
From our experience I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
We loved it! There are great deals during happy hour, so we stayed a couple hours. Great value for your money!
not the place to go if you want to chat - music too loud - lights didn't work on night of our visit so couldn't actually see what we were eating - great if you want drinks and downstairs for dancing
Very lovely food but the music was too loud. It was very busy so service was a bit slow but I'd go back as I loved the food
Great, buzzy place for a quick supper before the theatre, friendly, quick service and great food - plus, unexpectedly cheap drinks thanks to happy hour!
Pre theatre meal, 5pm booking wasn't busy but the food took over 45 mins to come out. Disappointed with the service, disappointed with the food and disappointed with the overall experience. This was supposed to be a special treat for my 2 young daughters at a supposedly top West End restaurant. On leaving the venue th front of house team were deep in conversation and too busy to even assist with opening the door for our small party of 3. True to say I won't be in a rush to return.
the venue was very noisy but very lively and the service was great, we had a waiter named giannis and he was very good. the portions were adequate and we had 2 for 1 cocktails for happy hour. we will definitely go back!
Incredibly loud music, especially considering we were there for early dinner 5.30-7.30 on a Thursday. We had to shout at each other and all left with sore throats. Terrible shame, as the food was good but the noise ruined the whole experience. If you're serving dinner, go easy on the music.
Randomly found Sway on OpenTable and decided to give it a go! The place is gorgeous and the food was really nice! Especially the pizzas. Drinks were a little pricey but were yummy
We'll back on a week night to enjoy the specials next time =]
We gave up when we realised we couldn't hear each other. We're in our mid-30s and not (yet) struggling normally, yet the DJ (man and laptop) at 7pm drowned out any attempt at conversation. No idea on the food as our party of three went elsewhere. Very friendly and attentive waitress who fully understood our situation!
The maître d' was pretty rude to us when we arrived. We had booked a table earlier in the day but she seemed to have no knowledge of it or interest in being polite/building a rapport. It was a shame really because our waitress was great, the food was good quality and served quickly. Hopefully your maître d' was just learning the ropes or having a day because it certainly put a dampener on the experience.
Disappointed - don't ever go on a Friday for a pre-theatre meal! Had seen positive reviews for a pre-theatre meal and wanted to try a non- standard option so decided to give Sway a try. My partner and I were seated right under the air-conditioner vents and our heads started to freeze. We asked to be moved, and were told by a senior floor staff member that the AC would be switched off. It was for a while, and then turned back on. Heads freezing again. We asked again if something could be done and, bless, Alistair, our lovely waiter, managed to move us. We think he might have got into trouble for that :( Yes, it's a vibrant bar, on a Friday, so it's loud and busy with the after work crowd, as expected. We're in our early 30s so normal for us. But the music was so loud on top of that, sat next to each other and shouting to talk and hear ourselves, it was ridiculous. The food was good but we finished it and our one drink as quickly as possible and left within 45 minutes. I'm sure it would have been a much better experience if it weren't for the senior member of staff who didn't really appear to care about our experience and the noise in that place. Sway might be an okay place for vibrant bar fun, yes, but pre-theatre dinner, definitely not. Won't be going back
Nice restaurant but seemed to be popular with hens and stags so very noisy. Not recommended for pre theatre dining.
Great pizza, best corn fritters ever! Drinks were good and service was excellent!
Great food. Fantastic service. Highly recommended.
Booked the burlusque evening in sway then a table, staff were very friendley and food was good, asked for a plaster for my foot as had a blister and staff gave me several without any hesitation (brillant)!!!! show was good too.
I have no idea of the restaurant - as when we arrived (with our booking) we were turned away as they had double booked us with a private party. We were not the only ones in the same position!
The place looked decent enough, well decorated and located, but was very unorganised. On arrival could not find anyone to guide me to the booked table, following which (when we flagged down a clearly incredibly busy waiter) they could not find my booking. Eventually found a spare table, where we were handed a menu then ignored for about 40mins. Was actually quite amusing to try to flag down the clearly rushed off their feet staff, only for them to repeatedly ( and quite obviously) ignore us, as they scuttled around in the quite un restaurant like atmosphere of blasting pop music at well beyond conversational compatible volume. After we finally got drinks, we waited a good 30 mins for what was very average food, sub Weatherspoons, but while they have the redeeming factor of being well run, cheap and relatively professional, this place had no such luck. We were still pretty hungry, and had only managed to get them to sell us one drink anf one course during the 1.5 hrs we had been there, ordinarily would have had a three or for drinks, desert and coffee, but decided to cut our losses and go somewhere else. Probably decent enough for after work drinks, but food and service wise, they really were far from impressive.
We were a group of 8 and enjoyed our food very much. Unfortunately, the music was so loud we were unable to speak or hear each other. We did ask if the music could be turned down slightly but this was not possible as it is evidently on an automatic sound loop.
Although not the most intimate of settings this restaurant provides fabulous value for money for its location. The food was all of a good standard and good value for money. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful without being overbearing. A great family lunch.
decent burger and good service dd dd dd dd. df f. f f
Fab night out with the girls at Sway. Kicked off the night with a meal in the Restaurant, food was good, the sharing platter was ideal, and we took advantage of the Happy Hour, half price cocktails! Later moved on to the bar/club downstairs and danced until our feet couldn't take anymore. Some great classics came on! Wine servings were very generous. Staff were friendly. I would go again.
Poor service, very rushed. The server forgot to add the top table discount to the bill and then insisted it was only off main course, rather than the entire food bill. Food was very average. Wouldn't visit again.
The dinner table was in the middle of a busy bar so not what we were expecting, but the atmosphere was good. However, the service was a mix of absolutely awful and good. It as clearly busy and the drinks waitress was the rudest person in customer service I have ever encountered, she wouldn't take orders and put her hand in front of faces to hush people. As we had booked a table of 12, we would have had far more to drink if we could place an order. The waiter taking food orders was clearly just as busy but remained calm, helpful and professional all night. The food was ok and drinks were ok, the club downstairs was good fun for a mixed group.
I have eaten at Sway a number of times over the years and it has varied from very good to terrible but this time was the worst. They did not have a record of my booking and made a fuss about it, making me show them my email confirmation on my phone even though the restaurant was empty. Luckily I was early and my friends hadn't arrived yet. The waitress was useless and didn't understand English. Drinks orders had to be chased 4 times before they arrived about half an hour later. When we each ordered our starters and mains, the waitress actually asked if we wanted it all brought out together!! The menu is more bar than restaurant food at the moment and very unimpressive but it's cheap.
Location was great, right beside Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden, with beautiful decor to boot (chandeliers, cosy club booth style seating), felt very classic and upscale. Was impressed with the venue, it was much nicer than we expected.
Food was tasty (I ordered the lamb rump for my main), great taste and presentation, but the portions were tiny. Dessert portions were much more generous, and also very delicious. Dessert definitely recommended.
Service was OK, but the waitress serving us at first gave off this feeling that she was very disappointed when we didn't order the high-priced menu items. Service at times hard to flag down. When paying by card, they have to literally go to the back to print out the receipt, process is slow.
With a 50% off food deal via top table this was excellent value. We went early in the evening so the drinks were also half price. The food was very good and we enjoyed the cocktails. This would have been an expensive night without the deal but it turned out to be excellent value. The steaks are well worth a try. The restaurant is very noisy so if your main reason for going is to chat and catch up perhaps this isn't for you. On the other hand if you are looking for a good fun place to celebrate this ticks the boxes. There is a disco downstairs to move on to after you have eaten but different music is played upstairs in the restaurant.
Sway blew us away when we first entered into what look like a high class restaurant with the leather seating and luxurious reds and browns decor, dimmed lighting and open kitchen. It's hard to find a quiet place in Holborn to enjoy lunch without having to speak over people which this place provides well. Food was average. Both our risotto and pasta were underseasoned but both cooked very well, pappardelle al dente and risotto cooked perfectly creamy and soft. They were simple and nothing outstanding but with the 2 for 1 they're offering it makes things fair although expensive without discount. However my friends fish and chips was more stunning. Very generous portion and perfectly crisp with nice trimmings and well seasoned fluffy chips.
We arrived out of the freezing cold Tuesday night to be welcomed by know one, it looked like a bar not a restaurant. But worse, a bar with no staff! Eventually I went and found a waiter and told him I had booked a table for four. He apologised for the lack of attention but said he was on his own tonight. I asked was this going to be a disaster? To which he replied no I'm sure you will enjoy.
To cut a long story short we decided to stay and enjoyed a very good evening. The food was very good not too pricey and the service was exceptional considering the circumstances. Our waiter went the extra mile so that we really did enjoy the evening. Do try the spring roll starters, they're spicey and very moorish!
