Excellent food and service. This restaurant is a real neighborhood gem
Excellent food and service. A real neighborhood gem
The problem for me was that I made a reservation and it was confirmed but I get there few minutes early and they tell they are already closed. After I got there , it felt wrong to confirm a reservation when they weren’t even going to be opened.
Great sushi! Service was lackluster
Regular its good service sometimes a bit non attentive
The service was excellent; the sushi was fresh and served elegantly. The noise level was very low, which was so appreciated. I'd recommend this to anyone who appreciates good Japanese food.
My first time back in several years, and the quality of the sushi remains high. Tried a few things I hadn't had before, not disappointed in any of them.
Food was good, not great! Service was awful!
The miso soup was excellent - full bodied and flavorful. The sashimi and sushi were not as good as we had remembered from several months ago. The service was good.
Freshest sushi and sashimi
Food was good, everything tasted fresh. Staff attentive and extremely pleasant.
Delicious and abundant sushi rolls. Everything tasted extremely fresh and crisp.
Creative and delicious cuisine. Gracious wait staff.
It is weird being served by a non Asian waiter. I bought a Japanese date and she said it was not real sushi. It was over priced
We ordered sushi and it was really good. However, the service was rushed even though they were not crowded - it made it difficult to really enjoy our experience.
A really nice dinner for four of us. Probably the best sushi in the neighborhood. My favorite is the Godzilla roll.
Great sushi and attentive staff!
This restaurant near the Times Warner/Columbus Circle area is idea for a pre-show meal if you plan to go to one of the venues in the Times Warner center, for example the Rose Theater. The food is excellent and the service is pleasant and friendly. Prices are very reasonable. We plan to return whenever we are in the area.
Amazing portions, quality, and atmosphere
Pleasant sushi restaurant near Carnegie Hall. The restaurant is clean and appealing, the service good, the sushi fresh, and the price reasonable. We will go there again.
Friendly and efficient service. Great sushi. Overall great experience.
delicious but way too expensive - fish was mostly fresh except for squid- which most people don't like anyway but still yummy
The services is really bad. To place order I wait around 30 min. The waiter refill water only ones. Empty plate stay in the table all the time after finish. Waiter never ask of you wanna something else. No coordination. I have to raise and wave my hand to get check. The service need an improvement of 100%.
Great sushi for a good price in a great location. Good wine for about what you’d pay for a casual bottle in NYC. From appetizers to the sushi itself, our meal did not disappoint, we even ordered seconds. Had wonderful service, attentive but not overbearing. Cleared the table quickly because they were small. Great atmosphere for a date or for a dinner on the low key side. The hostess even bagged our umbrellas immediately after entering. Would come again in a heartbeat!
Sushi Damo is a neighborhood Gem. It is a place for the Columbus Circle locals to relax and enjoy good sushi. Thank you for being neighborhood friendly!
Love coming here for my break during work! Food is pretty quick and it’s not too packed.
It was good: sushi was fresh, drinks were okay.
Very good sashimi and rolls. A bit crowded but nice service. A bit expensive.
The sushi and roll is delicious and definitely will come back.
Server took our drink order and appetizer order promptly. Received our appetizers very quickly, then took nearly 15 minutes to receive our drinks. Didn’t take our dinner order for about 20 minutes after ordering our appetizers and drinks. Food didn’t arrive until about 45 minutes from when we ordered it. We were with our 8 year old son and to have him sitting waiting for chicken teriyaki for over an hour was difficult. Restaurant service 101 is make sure to get the child fed as soon as you can.. The food was really good and almost worth the wait but I would have preferred to wait 20 minutes to get a table and then have prompt service thereafter than to sit waiting for our food for 45 minutes.
Good food, a bit pricy for such small portions.
The o my thing we don’t like was grilled octopus, it wasn’t warmed all the way through and was very tough.
The place has deteriorated in the last 2-3 years.
Used to be a nice place for any occasion. No longer unfortunately.
I would recommend Sushi Damo to a friend who needed a place in that area. I didn't find the food outstanding for the price and I thought the service wasn't great.
Menu has changed and prices have increased. Several old favorites are no longer being offered. Not the good deal it used to be.
This has been my favorite neighborhhod restaurant, but something has suddenly changed and on my latest visit nothing went right. We had to beg for service, dishes we had ordered many times were suddenly different and inferior to the past and one main course came out after two of us were just about finished with our meals......and it was not as ordered. Very disappointing. We'll give it another chance.....but just one.
A wonderful place to come either before or after visiting a Broadway or Lincoln Center presentation!
Great sushi but service was deplorable. Wish I could have ordered more than a roll but never had anyone check back. Ugh
Presumably because of its location in the heart of touristy mid-town, so it was fairly expensive for what you get. Nice to sit next to the window though. Atmosphere fairly ok.
Jona was attentive.
Super fresh sushi and sashimi, engaged service, a great evening.
