Eat before you go. Beer was good. Food was awful. $15.00 Brisket sandwich was minute steak with a very hard hotdog roll, fries we old and the $8. Pretzel was hard and burnt. Definitely not the same for as Stoudts once had. Plus they don’t take reservations, we were told they don’t fill us so tables are always available. The band playing that night was awesome. So go for the band and the beer, NOT the food.
Their restaurant was closed snd only the beer garden was open .
We never got our point because the restaurant was close.
When we called they said they have heaters and they were none.
They never told us anything about restaurant being close and a very very limited menu.
I’m gluten free and they hade only one item I can eat.
You had to drop your menu choices at a counter and go and by your own drink.
No servers .
Our food was drop at our table with plastic utensils and food in a take out containers.
So so disappointed . We were really looking forward to eat a good steak and mashed potatoes.
They should have explain to us what was going on.
Made a reservation and and it was not honored. Was told to go to a table and wait and then told to go back to a stand to order food. Back to where we started. I was mad by this and left. Had reservations and no services. What good was the reservation?
Terrible service, food and music...never go back again
It is difficult to review as the restaurant was under COVID restrictions and didn’t offer table service, and food was served in styrofoam containers which does give an inviting presentation. It was also Trivia night so it was noisy. The food was fine. Enjoyed the authentic German flavors.
To start we were fairly pleased, pandemic appropriate seating in the Beer Garden area, self service for drinks in one location and food ordering in another was odd but they are doing the best they can given the circumstances. The food was pretty good and they do bring it to your table. So far, so good.
Then at 5:45, the band started tuning up. OK, it's a sound check for later, they'll be done soon. But no!! At 6pm, this band starts playing their first set...AT AN EARDRUM SHATTERING VOLUME!!!
This was not conducive to a nice dinner out with friends (our first in 7 months).
Who the hell starts a band a SIX O'CLOCK?!? In a restaurant setting?!? AT MAX VOLUME?!?
Do NOT go on a Friday night.
Also, you can make a reservation via Open table but they are not actually using them.
Steve, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you did not have an enjoyable experience. Like many establishments, we are trying new ideas during COVID and your comments are helpful in evaluating our operations. Although reservations are not necessary (because there is plenty of seating in our Bier Garden events space), we do accept reservations through OpenTable and find it useful for our business.
We loved the food, the wait staff and the general setting. We came in hungry and left full and happy. Even though they ran out of most desserts, we are on a sugar diet so not going to ding them on that. The mix drink was strong and tasty and beer was perfect with my meal.
We loved the atmosphere and the steak! It was a unique and private setting for a date night and I am glad that we tried Stoudt's on a recommendation from a friend. We made reservations but that is not really necessary, which is sad, I would rather see this place thriving. It must be a best-kept secret!
Must have been an off night. Food cold and not cooked to specification. Only 2 desserts available on Saturday night @ 9 pm. Understand owner is looking to sell business. Maybe this is having an impact.
Very small burger and fries overcooked
Meal was fantastic! Extensive, varying menu. Chose oysters as an appetizer - the only downside was their size, and difficult to consume. French Onion soup was delicious. For entrees, the cuts of steak were exquisite. Cooked properly to temp and full of flavor. Vanilla cheesecake and creme brule for desert were good choices. Overall, a great experience. Definitely recommend.
I believe our sever was Vanessa & she was absolutely FANTASTIC!!! What a lovely place! Food & atmosphere was great!
Beer was excellent! The food had the potential to be good, but my tacos were cold and the Mac and cheese serving size was tiny for $17. Not terrible, but low quality of food for the expensive prices.
This was our Valentine’s dinner. We always get Ed’s thick cut steaks.
They ran out of all steaks and most of the desserts.
It was Valentine’s Day and we went there for our date. We were there early enough in the night for the food items to not be completely out of stock. We waited 30 minutes just to get a beer. Every item we tried to order, was out and there was very limited items left. After not having many options, we left because in our time there we were also hearing about the horrible wait times tables were waiting for their food. We decided it just was not worth it.
Food is delicious. Waitress was friendly and helpful. The pictures , some of them where disturbing. Only two stalls for lady's bathroom. Rose was a good touch for valentine. Gluten free options.
Great entree and beer selection. We had reservations for 5 at 7 and we were seated at 7:30. It was a Saturday evening and it was very busy. The food was great as German selections go. The beer was good. Nice place. If you get a chance, go
Food was delicious but the service, beer, and decoration was subpar. I would recommend going before closing but it is just ok.
I ordered a Sout Stodts burger cooked medium well. I received a burger that was rare. I sent the burger back and the waitress returned with my half eaten burger that was microwaved, toppings removed, with a new bun. It was the most disappointing $19 burger I have ever eaten.
Really enjoyed the fried pickles but it’s disappointing that the soft pretzels are so often sold out. Our entrees were great (seafood pot and mushroom strudel) but the service, oh my. Waited a very long time for a house wine.
Food was excellent. Tried a flight of beers, enjoyed all of them. Service was prompt & polite. Have recommended to friends. Antique store was closed, wanted to explore it.

We got the pretzel was so good for the appetizer. The brisket mac and cheese was delicious. Someone else in my party got a portabella ruden they said that was delicious and then my boyfriend got a burger he said that was delicious too, and the cheesecake was so good !
Dirty and everyone in parts entree burnt. Blue cheese dressing was liquid. Just horrible. Even salad was horrible
First time here. Food was amazing and service was on point. Will be back!
The hostess did not have our reservation in her book. I told her we booked with Open Table and I wanted to be sure I get credit for the visit. She seemed to care less about what I was saying. The weather was bad outside and there were only 5 tables being used, so it didn't really matter. The service, food and ambiance made up for the initial misunderstanding. We will visit again in the future.
I enjoyed the ambiance. The food was delicious. We'll definitely come back again.
Great main course meal an service, only complaint was the calamari came out a bit on the cold side. But definitely would try again! Oh an the beer is great as well!
It’s been 20 plus years since we have been here and it has definitely gone down hill! The water was disgusting....smelled like sewer water and tasted like it too! We were given bread but it definitely wasn’t Stoudt’s bread...it was thinly sliced white bread that had no taste. The table next to us definitely had Stoudts bread. Our steaks were good! French onion soup was not very tasty and the melted cheese on top smelled really bad!
It was ok, but we probably won’t go back.
Very surprising place to eat. What I thought was a steak house type, turned out to be a traditional german inn type of restaurant. From menu to decor to beer selections.
The food was good. Being that it was a Monday night I thought it would be slower at the restaurant. Sadly we waited along time for our server. We were going to order dessert but it just took too long and we had to leave

They were very nice, and understanding when there was a mix up with our friends. Food was good, my meal was just warm, I would have preferred.it a little hotter, and no I didn't complain and I can only speak for myself I did not ask anyone else about there meals. The room we were seated in was very eclectic. We enjoyed the decor. Overall experience was good. I will definitely give it another try!!!
Two of us had dinner on Friday night and lunch around 1pm on Saturday. Both meals were well presented and delicious. The crab cake was very tasty on top of lots of fresh corn and several fingerling potatoes. And the tower of vegetables dinner entree was very filling. At lunch, we both had a well done bratwurst and sauerkraut with excellent mustard. One of us had very good coleslaw, the other very good potato salad. Server was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Warm and receptive hospitality from all employees. A very enjoyable experience.
Loved the private booths! German heritage foods were delicious. Service was top notch.
1 year anniversary
Beer was excellent with several IPA options. Crab dip was the best we have had in Lancaster with loads of lump crab. Both the steak and the tuna was sizable, delicious and presented well. We will definitely return.
