Stony Hill Inn - NJ
It was Sat evening and the service was very slow
Been here several times. Tonight was the worst ever. The service was bad, waited 2 hrs for dinner and it was the worst ever. Very disappointed.
Nightmare ruined our evening birthday celebration
Three hours waiting for sub par food
All we got was one entree comped and a few desserts
Dover sole was horrible. A pure disappointment
What happened to customer service
Sorry we are busy. People that walked in 45 min after were served first. We will never be back
I frequent this restaurant several times a year normally the provide great service. Saturday Feb 15 was extremely poor. We were sat the hostess never gave us menus took 20 mins to get a menu. We ordered our food at 7:45 pm we received our food at 9:25 pm after asking several people if our food was coming out. Our waiter never came by to inquire about our food once.
The food was delicious. The service was not. They seemed to be disorganized. I had a waiter say our clams would be out 45 mins after we ordered eventhough we already ate them. Other tables near us were receiving wrong dishes.
Had brunch with 5 of my high school girlfriends. We are 75 years old and spend alot of time together. Great brunch with a wide selection of foods. Service was very good. Would definitely go back.
I lived in Bergen Count for22 years been to most restaurant, however never been to Stony Hill just find it on Open Table and read reviews. When we pulled up my husband and I thought that this was going to be a beautiful but overpriced restaurant with little food. We started with the two appetizers good price enough for 4 people they were excellent. With a table of 4 we each ordered a different dish, the dishes were well presented, good portions and tasted as good as they looked. They have their own pastry chef and the two deserts we ordered were very good. Our server was very friendly had good knowledge of the menu and we were not rushed. The various rooms were all beautiful and well decorated, and I will be a regular at Stony Hill.
Poor service,blaz'e food
Great food with great services. We will come back
Wonderful service and food. Accommodating atmosphere for business discussion.
The food was great. Service was mediocre it took a long time to get the bill picked up after it was dropped on the table. It was a little strange to be charged for a refill of iced tea. The valet guy also drove my friends truck pretty fast in the parking lot when bringing it back to us.
We have been going to Stoney for years. Classy place and beautiful decor. The food and service is good and most of all consistent.
Celebrating The New Year with a good friend; lunch was great!
Nice brunch, we will return but ask for a table NOT near the buffet as it was very busy and lots of kids around chocolate fountain. Mike the busboy gets an A+ in our book!
Beautiful restaurant that I have been to before. Ambiance of the building is beautiful however white butcher paper covering the white table cloths is very lame. With an average cost of an entree being over $30 pp I think this restaurant can afford a linen bill.
Manager had 0 personality - no comment no greeting upon our arrival. Waiter wears a tie with open collar it very professional. We had to seek out busboys / servers for water and additional drinks.
Key lime tart dry with little lime taste.
Overall evening was extremely disappointing.will
We tried the Sunday brunch and everything was outstanding. I find that most brunch buffets nail either the breakfast food or the lunch entrees, but here both were great. Wonderful dessert spread as well. It took a little while to get the check, but nothing to complain about. I will definitely be returning.
It is a shame how the night evolved because this is a place we could have been very happy to return to. Upon entering, we were told that our table was needed by 8:00 because we booked online while someone else booked by phone. This made us very uncomfortable. We were not at ease nor were we relaxed and enjoying our night. Our waiter was not bringing the courses in a timely manner, so we didn’t receive our entree until 8:15. I had my dinner boxed to take home. Dessert was not an option because our time had expired.
When we were seated, someone wiped down the glass top and set the dishes down without a table cloth or place mat. That was fine, but when we were asked to please move over to the bar while waiting for our check, the same table was set for the next customer with a table cloth.
We were very disappointed.
Holiday dinner with colleagues from work.
Overall the food was good. The service was substandard this night. If the waiter had no intention of paying attention to empty wine glasses then he should have put the wine bucket closer to the table so we could pour as needed. He seemed overwhelmed and we had to ask for bread, refills and the desert was supposed to come with berries and it didn't so once again had to ask for them to be brougth out. When I pay this much for dinner I expect the service to be top notch.
Came here to celebrate our anniversary. Asked to be seated by the fire place and we did! Very good portions for the quality and price. We will definitely come again soon!
Stoney Hill Inn is great spot to have a great dinner and get served from a wonderful staff. I have been going there for years. Looking forward to the next time.
Food was very good. Service was very shaky. I am having a hard time understanding why the tablecloth was paper. Hand cut or torn and hung over the edge. Very uncomfortable. This used to be a top notch gourmet restaurant. Things change I guess.
The food was excellent!!! The wait staff was very attentive and addressed any issue. The music was very loud, they couldn’t lower it so they shut it off.
Definitely will be going back soon!!!
Love Stony Hill and have been there a number of times. This was brunch. Mimosas were good. Salad bar was uninteresting. Hot food ok but nothing spectacular. The egg white omelet that I had was undercooked and really not tasty. Fruits for chocolate fountain were almost gone and deserts were mediocre. No more brunch there for me.
The service was absolutely wonderful I wish I can recall our servers name she was a delight. Food was mediocre at best.
Another great time, love this place. Joe’s Meatballs are a must!
The waiter was not really friendly, especially when i told him i was allergic to garlic!
My husband had meat with roasted potatoes. In fact they were not roasted by sautéed by still raw. I was supposed to get a sea bass for $38.00. It appeared to be a piece of cod!
We frequent the place quite a lot. Never disappointed.
Plesant atmosphere. Bartender was attentive without being overbearing. He made sure my drink order was correct
Food excellent but the halibut was very rich but overall good food. Ambience super as was service. Good value
Birthday celebration. Great brunch.
Excellent food and service in beautiful place
We went for our 1st Anniversary for brunch. Stony Hill Inn is special to us because that is where we had our wedding reception. The service is excellent and friendly and the food is delicious
Excellent food, attentive service, and terrific atmosphere made for a wonderful anniversary dinner.
Ive been to the Stoney Hill Inn at least a dozen times. My last two visits were less than expected. However, this last visit changed my mind. I will revisit soon!
A classic continental dining experience. Food is consistent.
Seems to be more of an event venue - 2 parties in the banquet area, 1 of the dining rooms blocked with a screen for a family celebration.
Bar is comfortable... excellent service and attention. Dining is great.Would like to see the return of “jackets required” on Sat nite although I understand the need for customers. Something special about that. Oh well ....see you in a “couple”.Al Margino.
We were celebrating our anniversary which was at the Stony Hill Inn 20 years ago. The menu selections were disappointing. The Caesar Salad seemed to have boxed croutons and could have used some fresh Parmesan shavings. The beef carpaccio was dry. I order surf and turf and the lobster tail was over broiled because it was brown all over. We expected the food in the restaurant to be more gourmet but it was just typical catering food. For such a special establishment, we wished the meal would have been just as special.
We got married there 20 years ago and mentioned that when we made the reservation on Open Table. Not even a glass of wine or free dessert. It Would have been nice for them to have acknowledged that in some way. We also mentioned it to our server and the manager, all they offered was as tour of the premises. A bit disappointing in that regard.
Our Server, Gus, was excellent!!
