Valet parking is mandatory and the service is excellent. The food was superb.
The waitress we had goofed up a few items and was extremely SLOW. She liked chit chatting with the other staff and you just couldn't find her or flag her down. She virtually ruined the dinner for us. I would recommend this place for a great meal.
We had a reservation but when we entered the restaurant, no one greeted us for about 15 minutes and then they said that I did not have a reservation. They did seat us, however in the bar. It was very noisy and then they turned up the music even louder. Meal was very slow coming out and in odd order (salad first, then appetizer). They were incapable of making a gin martini, even when I gave explicit instructions (no vermouth - pretty much got a glass of vermouth and they upcharged us for that). Food was okay but would never go back.
Beautiful patio...if you don’t mind sitting with all the smokers. Walking up to the front door are more tables filled with ashtrays, so the entry smells like smoke. Huge turnoff. My husband enjoyed his food but my burger tasted like it was all filler (breadcrumbs) and was super salty. I wouldn’t go back.
The Sunday brunch buffet is excellent. You need to go there several times, because there is no way you can try everything in one sitting. They also have live music.
Great and cozy place with eastern European food (serbian food). Great customer service. Great value for money.
This is an interesting restaurant. My husband and I visited for dinner with another couple. We booked on open table for 6:45 because nothing was available after 7:00 so I expected a full restaurant. We arrived and there is a required valet service. When we walked in the restaurant was pretty empty. It was clean and the decor and ambience was beautiful. We ordered the feta cheese as an appetizer and three glasses of various wines. The cheese was delicious. The wine wasn't great. We ordered the meal platter for four which was various meats served on top of fries. The meats were AMAZING! So well cooked and seasoned. The fries were not great and almost cheapened the meal. The restaurant never filled up and the waitress was nice but not very attentive to us. When we got our bill, we were shocked at how inexpensive the meal was for everything we got. Definitely worth a visit!!
Great buffet! Will come back.
Jelena was awesome! We are super American & had no idea what to expect but heard that “the Serbian restaurant down the street was fantastic”...it truly was! She helped us get through the menu and order the most amazing dishes. There were three of us but we ordered four entrees to have our own little buffet to try a little bit of everything she recommended ... The stuffed chicken with mushroom sauce was out of this world. The “pillows” were delicious. We also tried stuffed peppers-amazing and pork kabobs. So impressed. Cannot wait to go back! We are so full & cannot wait for left over lunch tomorrow! Thanks Jelena & Chef!
Not only were the portions very generous, but the quality of the food was excellent +. For anyone that likes meat, this place needs to be on their bucket list.
Fantastic Serbian food... have been there a few times and can't wait to go back again. The food is authentic and served with a smile and a good story! One note.. we've never been there for dinner only late luncbes!
Solid Serbian food, nice sevice, feel free to invite your non Srbian friends, they will enjoy it.
The food was good. However, we went for a special occasion (our 1st Slava (holiday), and I added instructions when I reserved for the restaurant to write on the dessert plate a special message and they did not do it.
Great authentic restaurant with wonderful service. Can't wait to dine there again!
If you like or want to try Serbian food this is a good choice in Chicagoland. Variety of spiced meats in good portions. Salad was excellent and recommended. Service was excellent.
Really great date night with my wife the waiter and service were outstanding and really helped us order and seemed as excited to provide us with their Serbian Cuisine as we were to learn and try it.
Food was amazing!
Thanks for a great evening.
On a Saturday night only a couple tables were filled. A family, apparently known to the staff, allowed their three young children to use the restaurant as a playground. Cute kids, but not shy about making noise and moving furniture. Service was friendly, slow, and not helpful in describing dishes on the menu. Food is fine, but not a good dining experience.
Loved it! Great cevapi! Salads were very fresh!
The PEARL of Ogden Ave. is what I call this restaurant after dining here. EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE and EXCEPTIONAL FOOD are what a person will find at SKADARLIYA. We started with the "FETA CHEESE" doused in olive oil and oregano topped with black and green olives as well as onions along with a "MACEDONIAN" Red Blend Wine recommended by our waitress. We were presented a basket of "SERBIAN" Bread that was fresh, warm and not a hard crust as some restaurants present where you can break a tooth. The "SHOPSKA" salad was firm even with grated FETA Cheese sprinkeld on top. Onto dinner! "TROUT" at it's FINEST! Broiled to perfection served on a bed of rice and the flesh of the fish melting like butter in your mouth followed by a Fruit Filled "CREPE" that was pleasing to the sweet tooth. The ONLY drawback we had was our HOSTESS. You don't seat four and give ONE MENU and walk away and not say a word other than "I don't speak English". Had to interupt her after she sat another couple who were given two menus by her in the cafe section. She had three menus she was ready to give to another group outside and I pointed to those menus as I wanted them and took them back to my table. When we left, her English became FLAWLESS. "Hope you had a great evening and thank you, please come again." As long as the manager(s) guide her to do things RIGHT, from the moment the patrons come in you won't have a problem. SKADARLIYA is a GEM and I know that I will be back for the Food, the Drink, the SERVICE and the Entertainment.
Food was delicious and so inexpensive. Waitress was nice and reasonably attentive given the size of her section. It was a little cold seated under the a/c vents, but most of us brought sweaters/sweatshirts to layer, and the rest of us ordered Serbian beers, so we were fine. It is a hidden gem in Brookfield and will become one of our regular go-to spots for delicious food at great prices! Also, we sat inside, but the outdoor seating looked beautiful, we’ll try it next time.
Odlicna hrana sve je jako ukusno ,svakako cu da preporucim prijateljima i tko je raspilozen za dobar zalogaj, sve desetke i za ambient za uslugu a narocito za Srepske specijalitete !!!!!
I had been there before, and kept trying to convince family to join me there. They thought I was exaggerating, but I finally found an occasion to bring a group, my family included. The quantity and quality of food and the atmosphere had everyone saying they would definitely be back!
Great food for a reasonable price! Service is really friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place.
First time dining for my mother's birthday. Our group of six enjoyed the fried cheese appetizer, a cucumber and tomato salad and the skardilya meal for 6. Food was great and we left with enough food for dinner the next night. Would love to go back and try some other offerings.
The food was very good and the waitress was very accommodating.
Amazing food! Only the vegetables in the salads were prepped may be at noon...coz they were old and saggy. But the grilled meat, amazing!!!!
We had a great night! Exceptional service, amazing food, awsome desserts! We def recommend this place. It was our first time but not last for sure. We heard its a lot of fun when they have live music too, so probably next time we will do that.
Excellent food !!! Excellent service !!! Cozy place !!!
This restaurant serves Serbian food and it is very tasty.
Great food. Our waitress was friendly and really helpful.
A big open space with many tables available for big groups makes this place a good choice for families and groups. The service was fast and friendly and the food beautifully presented and plentiful. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends. (as an aside, though the reservation was confirmed by Open Table, the restaurant seemed unaware or maybe confused about this option. Perhaps, not many of their costumers use the app yet, but this could be an issue on busy nights)
Authentic cuisine, great bread, large portions and helpful staff. We will be back.
Food was Excellent.
I was impressed by the quality of food and staff. We sure are gonna come again soon.
We had a wonderful dinner. Our service was great. We can't wait to go back.
We were looking forward to our first visit to this Serbian restaurant which just recently opened. We were quite disappointed. It started with the hostess, who acted befuddled when I mentioned I made a reservation on open table, (she asked "open table?"), yet she did have a reservation. Then after dining we arrived home to an email that our reservation had been "cancelled"? It took some time for the waitress to come to the table, but once our order was taken service was quick. There is a problem with the menu - they have a full page of "specials", but there is a note that "only 5 of the specials are available each day", and they are not indicated. Of course what we ordered was not served that day! Then why not have a separate special menu for those you DO have. Very frustrating. Menu is in Serbian with rough English translation, so difficult to understand. Food quality was good, but not our first choice due to the confusing menu! Noise control needed as well. We will not be back!
Food was good...but most of the menu was not available. I needed last second reservations on Christmas. I've driven by the restaurant since it's opening, so I figured why not. I'm not really well acquainted with Serbian food or custom, what I do know is they are traditionally welcoming...and the wait staff was just that. We did however feel out of place...the atmosphere was more of a sports bar type vibe, with little English spoken by staff or customer. Once we overcame a few hurdles the food was delicious...if you don't mind feeling a bit out of place and / or speak Serbian this may just be the place for you.
The menu had lots of interesting sounding Serbian and Eastern European dishes. Sadly, not all of the items are always available. One section of the menu states that of the list of dishes, five will be available each day. I was disappointed that the day we were there was not the day that chicken paprikash could be ordered. While my veal dish was delicious, the accompanying mashed potatoes were just about cold and tasted like instant out of a box. I hope that next time I can get real mashed potatoes or perhaps spaetzle which would be good with the tasty veal. Our group enjoyed the sausages that we ordered as an appetizer and the breaded pork schnitzel was tasty. The restaurant is attractive and has adequate parking. We'll try it again, for sure.
