food was just ok, the ambiance is premium . There was to be an apparent owner walking around, it stopped at tables where he knew the people , but did not even look at us ( first time clients ) . We did get a free dessert which was a nice touch .
Stunningly good food. Zucchini souffle was terrific. Burrata and beets, pretty standard fare elsewhere was perfect and the pasta with pesto and crab was very good. This place is beautiful inside. The wait staff attentive without being overbearing. It feels like a private party on the UES. Only downside is that there are so many specials, they should write them down. It was hard to follow the waiter. Wine list was superb but overpriced
We loved the restaurant--beautiful setting in back room--and food was delicious.
Either a special occasion or just a very good meal, this place is unique. Everything about it is really good. Very personable; the people and place make you feel like you are an old, known client. Intimate. Very good location.
The menu is based on mostly known dishes with e ouch of a twist to be original. Many additions to the menu at daily specials.
This place is going on our list of very special places that we live and like.
Beautiful restaurant conveniently located across the street from the Met. Our server, Cihangir, was very attentive and made the experience that much better. The food was impeccable.
Excellent place. A bit over my budget, but OK for special occasions.
Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have dined in in New York City. Everything is spot on perfect. A gem
Food was terrific and venu is most enjoyable. For a saturday in August, I was pleasantly surprised the # of dinners -- a testimony to their fine cuisine. We a slight incident with the wait staff -- she took my wife's wine glass away in the middle of dinner notwithstanding we all were still eating and we had still wine in our wine bottle. She just needs a bit more training. Overall, we would definitely go back but we do caution those on a budget, this place may not be for you if you are financially sensitive when choosing a fine restaurant such as Sistina's.
It was lovely ambiance combined with excellent food and service. A perfect setting for a summer lunch!
This was our first visit to Sistina. What a great find! We had a wonderful Monday lunch (we're out-of-towners, so this was for guilty pleasure, not business). Next time, we're coming on a Saturday night (insists my wife). The restaurant space is a converted townhouse in the Upper East Side. Physically it's very beautiful--inside and out. The bar area is pretty vast and also beautiful, but we spent our entire time in the main dining room. We were seated in a corner booth on a soft sofa, accompanied by comfortable throw pillows. (It's clear that Sistina is all about comfort.) Service was white glove. Our server was very personable, attentive and knowledgeable. He recited the very long list of that day's specials fluently. We didn't even need a menu with the selection of specials they offered that day. After martinis we each had a luscious soup as a starter: my wife had the red pepper soup and I had the mixed mushroom soup; each was topped with Parmesan foam and fresh parsley. They were amazing! For our second course we each had a hearty, delicious rigatoni Bolognese (roasted eggplant and mushrooms were included in the mix) and shared a fine Super Tuscan red. The dessert spread was elegant, but we took that to go and enjoyed it after dinner, later that night. We can't wait to return to Sistina. Highly recommended!
This is my husband and my favorite restaurant in NYC! The food is exceptional and the wait staff is fantastic! We go to Sistina at least once a month and each time, we love our experience!
Have eaten at Sistina about twelve times in the past year. Food is superb, service is stellar, and it is a quiet and extremely elegant restaurant.
The setting and location are wonderful. The dining room gorgeous. Staff very attentive and the menu items all sound fabulous. Food itself was good--not extraordinary as we expected.
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Manhattan. Inventive, delicious, never disappoints. Great wine list.
This was our first visit to Sistina’s. The food was fantastic, best Italian food we have had from a restaurant! Great service we are definitely coming back
Have dined their over 20 times and never disappoints.
Great spot for a special dinner. We got there early after a matinee show. We got a great corner table.
Waiters could not do enough for us. We tried all specials. One dish was better than the next.
Outstanding ambience, attentive service, delicious food. An all around wonderful experience.
Sistina is a particularly upper east side hybrid of white cloth-important-occasion-Restaurant, and neighborhood-dinner-standby. (Albeit a very tony neighborhood.) We saw everything from business attire to tee-shirts, from special occasion diners to families who appeared to be getting a bite with their teenagers. It's a luxurious, beautiful townhouse space where you could comfortably take an important guest, but because it has a steady local clientele, it's unpretentious and almost (but not too) relaxed.
Oh the food? Exquisite. Our worldly out of town friends were very impressed.
Food, service, wine all very high quality
We went post Met. We were a bit underdressed, but they were kind and sat us. The service was really excellent here, both good natured and highly attentive. The ambience is grand old house meets modern art and it is tastefully done. The food is not a gourmet experiment, but solid execution of standards with high quality provisions. The wine list is expansive, but it is expensive with few moderate priced options. But there is quite a bit offered by the glass. The breadsticks are the best in the world, hands down. We will go back.
Outstanding food and service. The couple at the table next to us argued incessantly and appeared to be generally unhappy. We met a elderly woman with a cool brocade jacket at the Maitre de station who was nice. I hope this is 50 words so I can get on with my life.
We had a terrible experience.
I sent back a shrimp appetizer saying to me it didn’t seem fresh.
The maitre’d John,(I believe that was his name) starting yelling at me that I was wrong, and he was right, that it was fresh.
Many people witnessed it.
We asked to see the manager but we’re told he had left the building.
Superb food and service. The chef is a treasure..
Excellent, as usual.
Service staff was rude, argumentative, inattentive which was so far removed from the grace of the atmosphere. They were poorly trained, didn’t respect or even realize they worked for the customers.
One of the wait staff forgot to offer us a dessert special of wild strawberries even though they were offered to tables on both sides of us. When my date Asked the waiter why he didn’t offer it to us he told her that he did offer it and she had a short memory and it wasn’t his fault if she could not remember. I confronted him and I said I am sure he didn’t offer it to us. He replied that he did offer it to us so I guess he was saying we both could not remember.
I was astounded by this extremely rude response and I asked him to apologize. He refused.
This guy should not be a waiter anywhere especially not at a very expensive exclusive restaurant.
Wait staff like this can ruin a restaurants reputation. In this case it certainly did.
The owners will pay for the unbelievable behavior of untrained angry staff by allowing such behavior to exist.
We came here for a nice lunch before heading to the Met.
Sistina was absolutely fabulous.
The food, service and comfortable setting were beyond what we were expecting.
We definitely plan on returning to try some of the other wonderful dishes.
Lovely place for lunch or dinner. We met friends for dinner then returned the next day for lunch! Food was fantastic! It’s a little noisy, but so is any place in NYC!
Elegant dining in a converted townhouse. The beautiful surroundings are only exceeded by the magnificent cuisine. Excellent wine list at fair prices.
Very good food, but very expensive. Very loud. Not great value.
One of the best dinner ever. Food was authentic, unique and delicious.
Best Italian, Best Restaurant, Best Service, Best Food, Best Owner
Consistently perfect, this is where I take my best friends or business associates to impress them. Ultra fresh ingredients, fine cooking, a lovely bar and a dining room that is as elegant as they come without being stuffy in the least. The service is also perfect. I can't come to Manhattan without dining at Sistina!!!
Honestly a great time at a beautiful restaurant. Lunch was delicious and quiet at a reasonable price for the elegant service.
One of the best Italian restaurants we've ever experienced. Excellent atmosphere, impeccable service, and food of the highest quality. A great place within walking distance of the Met for an unforgettable evening.
Amazing! Perfect for our daughters’s graduation celebration dinner,
The ambiance, service, and food here is excellent--you will not be disappointed. Probably one of the best meals I have ever had anywhere. Be aware that this all comes with a very high tariff. Great place to have lunch after going to the Met, but you might want to check the credit limit on your card before you arrive (very expensive)!
I rarely give five stars, but Sistina deserves them. This is an elegant restaurant. Outstanding service, delicious food, wonderful wines and a lovely decor combine to make dining here a delightful experience. Of course, wonderfulness has a high price tag. This is an expensive place to dine, but, if your budget allows it, you can't do much better than to eat here.
The service was good. My husband and I shared the arugula and pear salad which was very good. The branzino al sale was very good. The homemade black linguine with calamari, clams, mussels and roasted red pepper was a little disappointing. The Linguine itself was a little bland and the calamari was chewy. I expected the clams and mussels to be in their shell but were not.
We shared a gelato order - a trio of chocolate gelato, pistachio gelato and passion fruit sorbet. The chocolate geleato was excellent and went very well with the passion fruit. The pistachio gelato was so so.
The food was outstanding. Our 4th visit and we will return. Pxs are high but given quality, innovativeness of dishes and portion sizes, they are reasonable. Lovely ambiance and nicely-spaced tables for quiet. Exceptional service.
