James was a great!
Dave our server was awesome! Friendly and efficient!
What a lovely experience my friends and I had here! Our waiter was great and easy to talk to, and made us want to come back in the future. Can’t recommend this place enough if you’re in Stamford! So excited to come back
They did an amazing job of making us feel welcome and were truly honoring all safety precautions. At no time did we feel unsafe. Excellent margaritas and delicious food!
The service here was outrageous!!! I specifically asked if the entrees would come after the appetizers and wanted time between the appetizers and main course. I was told yes of course. Wellllll sure enough the entrees arrived while we were still eating the appetizers. Such a disappointment and the staff were not that sorry. I’m a very frequent out of the house eater sooo this is not acceptable for me. I will say they gave 15% off the bill and the waiter gave 2 more wine drinks on him. Sadly they are not my pick for upcoming dinners. I can spend my dollars at Capital Grille where they appreciate people.
Food was DELICIOUS!!!
Service was a bit slow, but not terrible.
Will definitely be back!
Good food...nice staff. However they seemed short staffed Valentine's Evening...not good.
Brunch was great
It was really great place, will definitely go back!
Amazing Burger!!... The way they do it with bacon, gruyere, and a fried egg is simply super delish.... but also VERY filling
Great brunch menu and fun pajama party for New Year’s Day!!
Great place with incredible food! Great atmosphere and delicious cocktails! I’d eat here any day of the week!
Great dishes in a fun atmosphere. HIGHLY recommend the local whipped ricotta starter - absolutely blew me away. They have some fantastic specials - date night for 2 and bottle of wine for $75! Overall delicious options and a great value in a convenient location. I'll definitely be back.
Our server was very nice but the noise level was ridiculous. They play horrible club music at extremely loud levels. We asked 3 times that they turn the volume down. They refused. It ruined a lunch to catch up with my Dad who I hadn’t seen in ages. We will NEVER return to this awful restaurant.
The Service Was Amazing The Food Was Fantastic & So Was The Bill!!!
The food was mediocre but we had a great server who was attentive and friendly.
The kitchen forgot our order and we did not get our dinners til over an hour later. We waited for about 20 minutes each time we ordered a drink. The food needed to be sent back because it was made to order. After spending 2 hours and about $300 on dinner we were told we needed to go outside and give our phone number to the girl so that we could get on the list to go upstairs to the rooftop bar which was over a 20 min wait. Completely unacceptable. Needless to say we will never be back for dinner. Awesome way to ruin a birthday dinner!
Not what was expected. The menu looked good, and we were open to a bar type of atmosphere. But our table was surrounded by the after-work drinks crowd, people standing up and loud music, loud voices, loud TV. Food was very mediocre and overpriced for what it was. Looks like it turns into a club some nights - not what we had in mind. Won't be going back.
The rooftop service needs to be better. We had to go get our waitress on numerous occasions and it felt like it took a long time after every order or follow up.
our server jamie was really amazing and really helpful thank you!!
I went to Sign of the Whale for my birthday dinner - it was SPECTACULAR!!!!! We ate on the rooftop. Beautiful view and we eve got surprise fireworks :)
Terrible service. They ran out of spoons in the restaurant for the 25.00 birthday sundae we ordered .
The food was great. Although I am kind of upset my waitress didn’t want to sing happy birthday because of how late we came. Online said you guys closed at 2 so I didn’t think being there at 930 was considered late.
We arrived and asked the hostess about sitting upstairs in the rooftop. She asked us to head upstairs- there was no one there- they were not serving lunch and they did not have the umbrellas open. So this was a letdown and I was very upset that the hostess wouldn’t know this information. We were seated - I had to ask a busboy for utensils- our waiter never noticed- I had to ask for water -no one ever offered.
They seated us near a group of people that were so loud that we asked to be moved, they did that right away. Our food came and our waiter never returned to ask if we need anything. I had to as another waiter for salt and pepper- we ordered the eggs Benedict.
The service was not what I expected.
The bathroom upstairs is horrible- they should update and upgrade to look somewhat decent. For the prices they charge the service needs to be much better.
Food is nothing out of the ordinary.
Would not return.
It was our first time dining at the restaurant and it definitely exceeded our expectations in terms of food. Service was great and the staff was incredibly friendly. The only reason our experience did not rate 5 stars was the food took a very long time to come out of the kitchen. Will definitely return!
Not a good kid menu. Actually there isn’t one or atleast not one when we were there.
Simply NO. View is on its way out thanks to the overbuilding of the SOUTH END /SOUTHFIELD VILLAGE. Rooftop will still allure the ditzy clubby twenty somethings in the area but the bottom line is this place is terrible. I’m expecting it to be RE-BRANDED by 2022. Hopefully a new staff and menu. Mediocre food at best .... mediocre service at best... with 4.5 star prices. Will never spend another penny here.
From afar to finish awful- walked into main floor and hostess was rude then told us see rooftop hostess as if angry.
Upstairs she was pleasant but seemed bothered we preferred to wait for table.
Service was incredibly slow - 15 min before first drink arrived, food wait over an hour. It’s a rooftop but a bad one at that- go for rooftop but no not really views are of other buildings
Even for bar food the quality was completely awful and we had to hunt down our server 10times scramble for our own silverware etc
We celebrated our son’s birthday tonight, and Sign of the Whale treated us like family!! There was an event going on at that same time, but I would not have even noticed if we weren’t across from them, because our service was exceptional!! Our waitresses (in between shifts) did all they could to remain abreast of our meals and drinks, and Nina provides the most unparalleled service than any restaurant we could ever go to. Never have we’ve received such hospitality, she was instrumental!! She foresaw an issue that may occur before we could notice, and did all she could to dissipate any displeasures (not that there ever could be!) Thank you for an incredible night-as always!!!
We had made reservations to make sure we had a table.
However we ate outside on the roof at the bar/dining area.
Food was good, the service was very good.
We would eat there again and recommend Sign of The Whale
Food and service were fine, but the noise level is really awful.
Great place, great service, food was okay, nothing special. Pretty expensive. Don't mind expensive places, but the food has to be top quality. The food here was not. Ill be back for the drinks and atmosphere. Not the food.
Food was spectacular and service was exceptional- I wish I remembered our waitress’s name because she was fantastic!! It was raining so we couldn’t eat outside upstairs so we’ll be back for that! Get the big pretzel for dessert!
Was there with a party of 4 for dinner and after being seated were informed that several basic menu items were unavailable. Informed of some items well after ordering, in fact as others at the table were being served. Main courses were not cooked as requested. Waitstaff clearly fatigued over disorganization with kitchen. Best part ... we were outside and it was a nice day. Will not return.
The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. We had to ask for drink refills several times, so maybe not as attentive as possible, but overall a very lovely brunch.
Everything was good, even the service but they kept telling us that they couldn't give us basic things like salt and pepper shakers and ketchup because they didn't have that stuff upstairs on the rooftop....What? are you kidding? That is a failure on so many levels that I couldn't even begin to place blame there... Sad.
The clam chowder (with actual claim shells in it) was fabulous. Some of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, the service was spotty. There was a large party over in the corner that seemed to be taking attention from everybody else. We had to wait about five minutes before we were acknowledged by the hostess. Then, our food took quite a while (mostly apps and salad things) and the waiter stopped by and asked "How is everything?" and one of our party had not yet received his order! Pay attention, buddie. So, good food, pretty noisy and the service needs work.
The food was delicious, and the space is attractive. But the noise level for a Sunday morning (11:30) brunch was almost unbearable. When we commented on it, our server said they had a DJ for brunch (but we didn't see one and don't know where it was coming from). Even though we were with my in-laws, which made me a little more sensitive to the volume and music, my husband and I agreed that it wouldn't have been any more comfortable if we were there alone or with people in our own age group. Because we were there early, it wasn't overly crowded, but I still felt that the service wasn't very attentive. Our server was pleasant, but she just didn't come around much. All four of us enjoyed our food (salmon, hangover hash, eggs benedict with crab cake), but my breakfast empanadas were not filled with smoked ham and gruyere... pretty sure it was pepperoni and mozzarella... still very tasty tho. Next time will try the rooftop.
