Shaker + Spear
Love the atmosphere and the service was awesome....friendly, genuine, warm. Beignets were delicious, brunch was yummy, though my burger was way overcooked. Def would go again.
Great service and nice modern atmosphere. The food could use a bit of work though as one of our appetizers came it cold - twice. Entrees were just Ok given the prices. Fun place to dine but don’t come in looking for a gourmet food experience
Went here before a show at the 5th Ave. Every bite was amazing! I can't think of a single thing we did not enjoy!! Even the names of the drink/cocktails were funny and great!
Place was clean and we were greeted immediately with smiles.
Drinks were delish and the food - everything was good. Arctic cod, pork chops, fried whole bass, charted octopus, and cod beignets.
Dessert was also amazing apple beignets and the special of pumpkin ice cream with pumpkin cake in it. That was sweet - my kid loved it.
The place was very nice, service was outstanding. The food was a bit salty for my taste, but presented very nicely.
Good but not great breakfast! Ate at Shaker + Spear on Saturday after reading good Yelp reviews. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing - smoked salmon frittata - but I was expecting more. It tasted like an over salted egg puff. Needless to say, I was disappointed. My wife ordered the waffle with the sausage bits baked into the batter. That was much better than what I had! So, again, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I'd go back to Shaker + Spear, but I'd probably stay away from the frittata and order something else. Beyond the food, the mimosas were good (can't really screw up a mimosa), as was the coffee. And the ambiance was nice. I wish the waitress would've checked on a us a bit more than she had. After we received our food, she did not come back to our table until I motioned her over so I can order a side dish. Anyway, give it a try and maybe you'll have a better first visit than I had.
This was a return trip to Shaker + Spear with friends, having been there once on a date. My friends and I started with oysters, greek lamb meatballs, and the caramelized onion and chèvre beggar's purse, these latter two outstanding. For the mains, I had the diver scallops, expertly prepared, and my friends went for the linguine and clams (which came with a fennel sausage ragu) and the seafood paella. All of the offerings were original and interesting, with lovely flavors that were a step away (and above) the more banal offerings at many seafood restaurants. But what made the evening special was our extraordinary server, the master of attentiveness without intrusiveness. She kept our glasses full, our tummies pleased (many of the choices were her recommendations), and our conversations flowing. Highly recommended for both intimate dates (yup, that first one went well) and special gatherings for family and friends.
It was lovely! We were there mid-day so we had the place to ourselves. This allowed us to chat up our server and get to know the place and the menu. We went with a lot of his recommendations and everything was great. The drinks were great, the food was great, the service was great. The restaurant was open, welcoming, it had a great ambiance and the service was exemplary. Highly recommend!!!
wonderful, will go back!
always a nice place to eat. I've now tried both brunch and dinner a few times, and all my visits were very enjoyable. quality of the food is amazing, excellent service, and very comfortable dining environment. This place remains one of my favorite in Seattle. Their sister bar Penny Royal is also fantastic!
Nice restaurant. We asked our server about the prep for each food and she assured us the shrimp and the whole fish were not prepared similar as they sounded both deep fried . So we ordered both and they were the identical prep and Was way too much friend food. Both delicious but. Should not have both been recommended. Otherwise a lovely experience.
Our waiter, Mitch was fantastic... catered to our every “need”....and the food and atmosphere was terrific too!
My 3rd visit. Asked earlier, I'd have given a max overall rating, based solely on liking the meal we ordered better on last visits. Must say though, the octopus we just had was tender & delucious. Restaurant is pleasing as to size (not too large), decor and noise level. Even when full it's never too noisy. You can talk to your date at normal voice volume. The food is great and service is always wonderful. Our latest server, Robin, is lovely. Great restaurant.
Our reservation was at 6:45pm on Thanksgiving. However, due to the delay from the last customers, we were not seated until 7:35pm. Though the waiting area in the lobby of the hotel was not bad, that was not the best start for our Thanksgiving dinner.
Once we’ve got seated, the experience was super nice:) We like our server Robin, she’s super efficient, friendly, and thoughtful.
The space in the restaurant was not huge but very cozy, chic, and stylish. Me and my family, who were visiting Seattle the first time definitely love it. The most important things of the night, the food, were bravo!
The holiday special, traditional turkey was not the best only bc turkey itself is dry, and I am not a big fan of it. But everything else, which are on their regular menu are so delightful. I love the seafood paella so so much!
It was our first time at Shaker + Spear and I am planning to return the next time in town!
Though, it would have been a better experience without the 40min wait. Or, maybe a tiny complimentary something, sparkling water or a cookie.
Service is impeccable, menu is enticing and the food is nothing short of superb. Duck confit is a must-have.
Had a 2pm reservation for lunch on thanksgiving day. I spoke with the restaurant the day before after learning that they close between lunch and dinner. I wanted to be sure we wouldn’t be rushed. I was assured that we would not. As it turns out we were. Entrees were brought out with the salads. Dessert menu was dropped before we were done with our entrees. Food was fine, but none of us were happy with how we were rushed through the meal.
Love, love, love it!! I dined here on Thanksgiving. Incredible food with outstanding service. I can't wait to return to Shaker and Spear this weekend for their crab cakes and scotch olives, among other great plates.
Fantastic food and Rose, our server, was one of the best we have ever had! We will be back!!
Excellent unique selections, leisurely paced and solid wine selections. I highly recommend it.
After looking at several restaurants for our anniversary dinner, we decided on Shaker & Spear. Overall, service and food were really good.
Our favorite parts of the meal were the oysters and dessert. The oysters were small but super flavorful, and the balsamic ice was the perfect compliment. We had the pistachio dessert and it was amazing- not too sweet, the texture of the cake was spot on, and the pistachio ice cream added the perfect balance.
As I mentioned, my husband and I made dinner reservations to celebrate our anniversary. Upon making our reservations, I had indicated it was our anniversary and requested a table with a water view if possible (I may have been mistaken about the location from other reviews). So instead they gave us the worst table in the entire restaurant- first table near the entrance. Part of the wall bumped in so my husband didn’t have much room, and every time the door opened I got a blast of cold air. It was such a mood killer, we didn’t even mention our anniversary. The waiter acknowledged it at the end with a celebratory glass of champagne, which we very much appreciated. But we really wished we could have enjoyed a relaxing and romantic dinner.
Very nice place to go on a romantic date. Superb food and service. Will return.
In a city full of excellent seafood, this place is really just okay. My fish was heavily sauced and our appetizers were pretty bland even though recommended by our server. We would only be back if we saw another show at the Moore. Our drinks were great though!
Took friends to Shaker and Spear for brunch and it was excellent! We had the sausage waffles, popovers, and the baked pancake. All so good! And the service was friendly and attentive without being too much.
I came in for drinks and dessert to celebrate my friends 30th birthday. I called before coming in to ask them to decorate the dessert we ordered for our celebration. The hostess assured us that she saw the note and said they do it routinely for a celebration. Well they didn’t and I was very disappointed. Strangely, where we sat had a very strong odor like sweat or very artificial lavender spray? It was strange.
The pistachio crumble with pistachio gelato was amazing but they forgot to bring a candle on the dessert after I left a comment and even went through the effort to call them.
We chose the restaurant to try something new and we were not disappointed. We had an early reservation so we got lots of attention from the staff. The food was really delicious!
Outstanding in every way!
A really, really incredible meal. We had the sage fried olives (a do not miss), as well as the delicata squash salad, the octopus, and the chichen and dumplings. Great service, and nice ambiance, though we were a little chilly. Next time we will layer up!
While visiting Seattle looked on Yelp for fine-dining, fish options, landed here and had a wonderful experience. Service was exceptional as Mitch helped us with the nuances of the entree options. We started with the crab & artichoke dip, Yum! As it turned out all 3 of us went with the Atlantic Char entree and its pairing with the potatoes and leeks was outstanding (unfortunately that means we can't expound on the full breadth of the menu, but if the Char dish was any indication, well-worth checking out). When i commented on the impressive wine menu, Mitch connected us with Ryan who gracefully guided us through the Walla Walla offerings that piqued the interest of an uninformed Californian. Overall, two-and-a-half hours well spent!! We'll be back in Seattle in January to explore more of the menu (...and wine list). Thanks Mitch & Ryan.
Everything was fantastic. Food was outstanding. Service was excellent.
My friend and I wanted a special place to celebrate our October birthdays, and we were both delighted by our first-ever experience at Shaker + Spear. First, a huge "Bravo" for the valet parking service that's available at very reasonable rates. S + S is located within the Palladian Hotel, which is surrounded by massive traffic AND construction. Next, the menu is small but extremely creative, and the food is delicious! But by far, the real reason for this 5-star review is our server extraordinaire, Adam. Not only did he offer insights into the menu, but, because he's also a bartender, he shared his expertise while recommending the most delicious cocktails. He never hovered, had the courses timed perfectly, and made us feel like we were the ONLY table to which he had to attend. Adam is a superstar, and is the main reason that we've decided that we MUST try S + S for dinner!
I love Shaker + Spear food and its friendly and very professional service, yet the noise level is a but on the too much side, as a lot of restaurants.
I recently made my 3rd visit to Shaker + Spear, and their food has been fabulous. We have tasted approximately half of their menu and have not been disappointed.
Everything was great and our server was amazing! Efficient, friendly and very knowledgable. He even brought us a complimentary glass of bubble at the end of our dinner. The food was excellent!
Reservation was running a little bit late, but they have a nice upstairs cocktail lounge and they were apologetic. All dishes from start to finish we’re well executed including the recommendations from our server, Kate. To top it off, they had my favorite bottle of Spanish Tempernillo!
The food was excellent. However, there was one assistant waiter who refilled our water glasses while touching the bottle to the top of everyone's glass... Not cool.
Excellent service, delicious food, pleasant great ambiance.
The food was excellent and the service was great, but the cost was not quite worth it for brunch. I was shocked when I saw the bill - lots of fees for add-ons. For example, adding cheese to my eggs was $6! What?? I would come back, but I would only order one meal and no drinks/extras.
I rarely write reviews unless the experience was great or really bad. In this case, it was tremendous. Food was outstanding, reasonably priced, and service was excellent. Def on our list of favs in Seattle!
Mitchell was an outstanding server. He provided perfect pacing of our meal. The paella and steelhead are a must try!
I always like the service and how the dishes are presented. The flavors are really good too.
