Shaker + Spear
Fantastic experience! The food was excellent and our server Keegan had incredibly intimate knowledge of the menu and a fabulous personality. Definitely a new favorite.
Staff was impeccable as well as the food. We had several items on the menu and all were spectacular. We’ll be back!
My Son Ed recommended Shaker and Spear to us
and we’re so glad he did!
From the moment you enter you’re greeted pleasantly. Our Waiter, Keegan is Tops and
the meal prepared by a great team with Carolyn
ensuring satisfaction every step of the way was
Amazing service and food!!!
Amazing service and incredible food. Loved it!
I love the food here. We ordered small plates and shared as a group. Brussels sprouts, truffle fries, salt cod, peanut shrimp. All so good. My colleges liked the crab cake too. It’s a restaurant I often return to when I want something delicious. They also have great fish dishes.
Fresh vish, service excellent. Would return
The service and food were outstanding and I highly recommend dining here soon! The server warmly greeted us, explained all items on the menu with enthusiasm without us even asking him to do so. The food was delicious. The artic char was amazing as was the octopus appetizer. And you can't go wrong with their pistachio crumble cake desert.
The Arctic Char was a good choice. If you have room for dessert the black currant sorbet with fresh berries was the best I’ve ever had.
Whole red snapper was cooked perfectly. Kudos to the chef.
Most importantly, service was excellent. Good menu suggestions, plus top-notch service. Food was great, overall experience outstanding.
I say yes hesitantly. The food was good. The server not so much. I ordered tea with milk and got tea, no milk. I had to ask two more times in order to get it. He also was supposed to bring water to the table. Nothing for a good 10 mins. The food runner was AMAZING! He was on top of everything! The server checked in once after he food arrived and didn’t see him until about 10 mins after the table was cleared! 🤔
The last time we were at the restaurant our server was awesome! Hence why we came back, but this server makes me not want to come back.
Had the snapper. Beautifully presented and had equisite flavor. A wonderful spicy aioli accompanied with fresh arugula and greens was perfect. There are no booths and tables are rather close. Loud conversations from across the restaurant can be easily heard everywhere. Waitstaff are awesome. Chef is obviously talented. Bathrooms are not in the restaurant but in hotel and were clean and tidy. With tip, our meal was about $95 per person that included low end beverages.
We went to Shaker + Spear for lunch based on reviews in Open Table, but were disappointed on many levels. The restaurant was very noisy, the food was slow in coming out and the portions were small. I enjoyed the crab cakes but the corn pudding with the shrimp scampi was under-cooked. The only bread we were offered were popovers that came after the entrees arrived. The olives were tasty but the pickled vegetables consisted mostly of bread and butter pickles and 1 or 2 pickled green beans.
The entire experience was great! Would HIGHLY recommend the octopus - it was outstanding!
Nice food, original recipe and great presentation
The food was absolutely fantastic, and our server, Mitch was helpful and delightful. We had one night in Seattle and randomly made a res at Shaker & Spear and it was the best food we had the entire time on a week and a half, Chicago to Seattle road trip.
Birthday dinner almost didn’t happen as my wife fell extremely hard slipping on an obviously wet floor by our table. The entire restaurant stopped and was concerned. She recovered with a large bruise on her upper arm and sore hand. The manager did come over to check on her immediately after the fall. Dinner was delicious. Manager did not check on her during or after dinner. Shaker and Spear did comp only her drink, not anything else. That aspect, of an otherwise superb meal, unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths. Looking at the bruise upon arriving home it is very clear this was not a minor incident.
Would we go back? Certainly. We were told the floor is getting redone, in 3 months! Not sure we will be having dinner there until after that has been accomplished.
The manager asked our group of 8 to 'please leave soon' after less than 1 hour and 40 minutes dining. She said they had another group arriving shortly and they needed the table. Could you tell we were having a business dinner?
She's lucky I didn't make a scene as I had yet to pay the $600 bill. Great meal right until the end, but earned that 1 star for having no clue how long large groups are expected to dine for.
Oh yea, wasn't even a busy night...it was a Thursday night! Hilarious!
Almost always look on the bright side of dining experiences, couldn’t do it on this one. Had the first seating when they opened at 5:00 pm. Ordered the Bronzino special for my wife, and ordered half dozen oysters and grilled calamari for myself. Although the latter two were technically appetizers, asked our server to please bring out all 3 dishes together and we would share. No problem waiter said, and took my order for a glass of white wine.
A few minutes later, I glance at the bar and see the bartender pour my glass of wine. She starts to put the bottle back behind her, then comes back to the front of the bar, picks up my glass of wine, and pours some back into the bottle. Seriously? Unbelievable. I’m actually speechless and in shock when a different server brings the glass to the table.
A few minutes later, a third server brings the calamari and oysters to the table, no bronzino for my wife. A few minutes pass, and our original server arrives and apologizes, saying they had a computer error and the bronzino will only be a moment more. I’m of course waiting so that my wife and I can enjoy our dinner together.
9 minutes later, no bronzino, but we certainly have cool grilled calamari by then. I ask another server about the bronzino, she says she’ll be right back. Original waiter Haver’s near nearby tables, but he avoids eye contact. Very disappointing.
Finally bronzino arrives, long overdue, and we “eat” but we certainly don’t “dine”.
Stuff happens, totally understand. But first seating in a nearly empty restaurant with the reputation that Shaker +Spear has and it all adds up to an incredibly disappointing experience.
Very sorry to post but I know ownership would want to know.
This restaurant was the food highlight of our 1 week excursion to Seattle. The meal was memorable and the server was delightful. Highly recommended.
Took two hours to have brunch. Slowww service. Food and drinks were good though.
Food was amazing! Definitely going to try their brunch as well!
Fabulus food, fabulous service! Mitch is the best server we have had at any restaurant in quite a long while! Wish we lived in Seattle so that we could go more often.
Excellent food and service! One of our favorite dining experiences while visiting Seattle.
The food at Shaker + Spear was some of the best I’ve had in my 3 years in Seattle. This will be a go-to spot.
The service was pretty good although our server lacked enthusiasm. I had the seafood paella and the rice was over cooked and the squid ink aioli was overwhelming. When I didn’t finish, the server asked and I politely explained that the dish was a “new experience “ for me. I didn’t want to be a complainer. He gave us a discount. My husband said his burger was delicious so I’ll go that route next time!
Delicious! The ambiance/location is a little off (in a hotel and all) but the decor is nice, food is excellent, and service is superb.
The food was outstanding and memorable. It was perfectly seasoned. The food pairing was matched with expertise.
Ate brunch there with friend who ordered the pancake but waitress did not explain that it was more like a cake. Way too large, way too rich, way too uneatable, waste of money
Recommended items: the cocktails, grilled octopus, salted cod beignets, paella.
Not as much: the steak was nice but somewhat overcooked.
The service was top-notch. Great ambiance, and the noise level was about right for groups of 4 or less.
Food was amazing! All the recommendations were great! Our server was very informative and friendly!
The food was generally really good. Loved their gingered Brussels sprouts and chips with yoghurt dip! :)
Excellent! Would highly recommend
The staff was amazing, incredibly informative and knowledgeable. Even if the food wasn't delicious (it was, the octopus was crazy good) I would be back for the service.
Rose was our server and she made the experience such a great one! Very excellent menu and amazing items from the chef. We had the crab dip, oysters, paella and popovers. So much food. But ALL delicious. And Rose's enthusiasm and love for the chef and the menu just put it over the top as an excellent experience.
Fantastic open concept restaurant that provided a real nice venue for our business dinner meeting. Service and food fantastic, would definitely return! On a side note, our server was fantastic!
The food took over 45 mins and after that the taste of the seafood platter was not great. The rice felt old as well.
A friend said this was her go to brunch spot so we gave it a try and she wasn’t wrong! We had an 11:30am reservation and was seated right away. We were offered mimosas, bloody Mary’s and/or coffee pretty quickly although the drinks took a while to arrive. The mimosa and Bloody Mary (The Hub’s brunch drink) were good as was the coffee.
My husband ordered the waffle with sausage cooked in the batter. It was delish! They rest of us enjoyed egg bennies-which were pretty much perfect. They were served with seasoned potatoes-also yum!
Would 10/10 come back and explore the tantalizing menu!
