What Insiders Are Saying
An import from Nantucket, Sfoglia is one of the few Upper East Side joints that, if transported to downtown, wouldn’t feel out of place.
Ambiance was great. Service was .... good. Food. Was. Terrible. My Bolognese was salty and the pasta was way over cooked. My husbands duck sausage pasta was decent at best but the broccoli rabe that was a major part of the dish was really bitter. We went not to celebrate but to have dinner and drinks. We each had a drink. Ate some of the food but busted out. We had high hopes.
Fusilli al buco was amazing with corn and delicious homemade ricotta coming back for more very soon c
Lovely restaurant with a small but delicious menu and solid wine list.
Excellent service -delicious food-always !
Sfoglia is an example of a restaurant that prices its menu 20% higher than it's worth. The food is decent and the room is mellow, but the disconnect between cost and quality is enough to make for a single visit.
Took reservation right on time. Offered tastes of 2 wines to select 1 glass... great! Pastas great, just unusual combos with them. Beet salad one of the best ever. Pricey.
Sfoglia doesn't seem like the same restaurant from its early days. Serviceable, unadventurous dishes at top of the market prices...yet it's a neighborhood spot. I wish there was a little more to like. And sitting next to the kitchen provided a buzz of dish clinking, "corner" announcing noise that wasn't really pleasant.
I’m not quite sure what has happened to Sfoglia. It used to have great food and a lovely menu selection.
Suffice to say, such is no longer the case.
The menu is so totally different.
All in all, sad. 😢
Great food and friendly atmosphere.
Food was fine we arrived a bit late thinking the kitchen closed at 10:30 only to find they were closing at 10. Made us hurry our diner. This unfortunately prevented us from having the relaxed diner experience we were looking for.
Always wonderful.. and so it was...crunchy variation of Caesar, seasonal ramp pasta, chicken Mattone.. all delicious.. with gracious and knowledgeable staff.
Wonderful food and great service!! Absolutely loved it!!!
Love the ambiance and decor in Sfoglia. Was in our favorite spot at front of the house. Attentive staff and most impressed with antipasti and desserts
excellent food in beautiful rustic setting, attentive service. A bit pricey for what it is though. Its sort of a neighborhood gem not a destination restaurant.
Great first visit . It was just a bit annoying how obsessed they seemed to be with time and if we needed to be somewhere. Let us worry about that . Still would return because the moody cherry drink was fabulous and really enjoyed the ambiance.
Always a good evening. Great ambiance, food and attentive serving staff. A neighborhood find through other locals, and I keep coming back. The menu changes frequently(maybe too much so) but between the pasta, fish and meat dishes there is always a tasty selection plus you can eat at the bar!
Always great food; tasty and innovative. Service is attentive, not intrusive.
Sfoglia used to have an amazing food but lately having been there twice in the last three months, the food was mediocre especially for the price they charge. No, I would not return or recommend it to a friend.
The food and service are outstanding. Unfortunately, the high noise level makes it unsuitable for groups, even smaller ones.
The food was, as usual, very good with a tasty appetizer accompanied by excellent Italian wine. However, the noise level was extraordinary due to one party of exuberant gentleman. The manager was unhelpful and explained that there was nothing he could/would do and "blew us off" in so many words. We won't return despite the charming atmosphere and good food.
Had reservation for two but was put at communal table in lower room where noise level very high. Ordered special dessert which turned out to be $26!
Other than the drinks being a bit pricey (where in NY aren't they?) this was a perfect blend of ambiance and delicious.
Noise level was low....could actually hear each other.
Food was EXCELLENT
Great food. Our server was the worst however. Seemed like he was doing us a favor waiting on us. I’ll go again but ask for another server.
Amazing, creative combinations of fresh flavors that surprise and delight ....always something different and always decadent. I can’t tell enough of my foodie friends that this is a must try!!
We found the restaurant to be cozy, the food divine, and the service so discreet as to be almost invisible. A beautiful experience.
The bread was so good the pasta was soo good the arancini was so good everything was so good!!!!! 10/10
Sfoglia has quickly become one of our favorite NYC dining spots. No matter one's taste, there is something special here, whether it be their spectacular pastas, amazing salads, New York's best roast chicken, and desserts that must be tried to be believed. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is always upbeat. You won't be disappointed at Sfoglia.
Really excellent food and an unusual rustic feel to the restaurant.
Great on all counts
Very good food right before a talk at the 92nd Street Y. I wish I had more time o enjoy it. Very bustling so not the right place for a quiet dinner. The service was excellent and the ambienec fir the evening.
Wonderful evening . Delicious . But it was loud
It's an old favorite. The atmosphere is warm&welcoming&the food is consistently good. They used to put out a plate of olives on the table&I missed it this time.
I was very disappointed with food overall. Nothing was worth coming back for. The extremely nice service was some compensation, however. From the moment I checked in every employee was extra nice in every way.
Food was good but expensive
There are surprisingly few restaurants on Lexington Ave in the 80’s thru 90’s and even fewer of any note, so Sfoglia is even more of an oasis in a wasteland. The interiors are a magical space behind a fairly non-descript front. The food and service are excellent and the pastas sublime. A bit pricey but totally worth it!
All great but they seated a LARGE AND LOUD party of 12 just behind us. We could not hear each other or our waiter speak.
Always a great experience.
Great Italian food, friendly staff, and a perfect atmosphere (cozy and quite). This is a perfect dinner spot in the Upper Eastside. I recommend it highly and will be back!
Great, delicious food. Very close to the 92nd st.Y
haven't been in years and I feel foolish since it is superb food. better then ever. wish they did lunch as well
