Completely enjoyable. Service was Professional and dinner and selections were nicely plated and cooked accordingly
Overall, it was a good experience and we will definitely go back. The waiter was gracious and helpful but he was the only one working and sometimes it was hard to get his attention. However, we had time, so it wasn't a big problem.
The meal wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special. Overall, it was “meh”. Our server was very nice, but he was the only guy working in the restaurant’s front section, and we were the only table of customers. They advertise their cuisine as “international”, but make no mistake ... they are an Indian restaurant, and they clearly only want to serve you Indian food. For the very few “Western” dishes they serve, they were out of nearly EVERYTHING on the non-Indian menu, including the desserts. It was comical ... I went down the line from soups to lamb, and they were all unavailable. The server valiantly tried to get me to switch my order to something on the Indian side of the menu, which I reluctantly did. I am not expert in Indian cuisine, but I am rather fond of tandoori dishes (they purported to have two available). Sadly, the tandoori chicken was uninspired and “okay” at best. My companion, who grew up in India and knows her Indian foods, had the same verdict on her chicken biriani ... meh. Not terrible, but certainly not anything worth writing home about. Their soup of the day was a tomato soup, and it was outstanding. We had to order it because the original starters we ordered were .... unavailable. However, I can’t give you any assessment of their desserts, because the ones we ordered were, once again ... unavailable. We decided to skip desserts instead. All in all, lovely ambience, the staff are nice, but it just misses the mark as a serious contender for high dining in Edmonton.
Awesome place to spend an anniversary. Very nice atmosphere and the food was delicious
Overall a decent experience. Service was slow and we waited about a half hour to 40 minutes for our food (even though there was a grand total of 10 people in the restaurant) and the music was unnecessarily loud and bumpy - didn't match the setting. The food itself was really good, so it made up for everything else. Had two orders of the coconut shrimp and four orders of the NY strip, prepared really well. Would come here again if the service improved.
Each of us ordered and were told they were not available - ordered something else and told not available- then ordered something really basic
I went there on a sunday the restaurant was completly empty my husband was very suspicious but i gave it a try. We ate lamb skewer very hot ones with rice and mushroom plus 2 kind of naan the one with garlic and another one with beef and everyrhing tasted very good. It was very nice and the waiter was very kind and helpful.
Delicious Indian food, and an extensive menu so that those who did not like Indian food could choose a different cuisine.
Food was delicious and very spicy, just how we liked and requested. We could tell the chicken and dishes were freshly made. There was a good variety. I recommend the regular naans as they were freshly made and served in filling quantity.
Mediocre in all aspects. They try to be everything to everyone and aren’t successful at being that broad
Decent spot for a good meal. Not overly romantic or quiet. Only one server working on a Saturday night, wasn’t great. The food was good, not great. Prices are reasonable.
Helpful staff, delicious East Indian food. Not busy so so nice to be a table of 4 and we could hear each other without a din of noise. Very attentive to service and helped with ordering for us which gave us variety. Lamb was our favourite.
Excellent food, excellent service. The butter chicken was amazing, the steak was cooked perfectly, and the prices were very reasonable.
The food and service was good, however they are in a bit of a strange location. We were the only people there around dinner time so that was a bit uncomfortable. I wanted to order the 8ounce steak which they were put of, kinda weird considering there was no one else there... Because of this I had to order a more expensive meal.
Good food. Good service. Wasn't very busy so it was a quiet experience.
The service was amazing, very tentative, kind and ready to help/serve/explain dishes.
The food was amazing, probably the best I've had in Edmonton for eastern Indian cuisine.
Amazing wine selection.
This is a great place to go on a date or just to enjoy great food in a nice atmosphere.
Great food, good atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
It was a really great evening, great service. Unfortunately our 30$ New York strip was well done instead of Medium.
We really enjoyed dinner on Valantines, Select Salad, Prawn Primavera, Laal Maans and Garlic Naan Bread were all excellent.
We will come back
We had requested quick service as we had a show to catch. The waiter was prompt fast, made great recommendations and had served us promptly. Loved the food and the service! It was quiet and pretty all around.
We were one of 2 tables in the place. The food was stale and flavourless and the service was incredibly slow. Not sure how this place has a rating over one star. Would not recommend
Not up to the level. It's advertised as one of the best in Edmonton. But ambience, food quality and decor says otherwise. Only one thing good is the food portions. Just an average Indian restaurant.
Had not been to this restaurant for some time. Looked forward to the lemon gnocchi and expressed disappointment to the server when the dish arrived with a medley of finely-diced veggies and onions. While these added colour to the dish, they obliterated the lemon flavour of the gnocchi. On a cold Edmonton day I was seeking a comfort dish. My dining companion, on the other hand, loved her veggie sandwich, and would only share a couple of her battered fries - they were that tasty!
Food was good and came out quickly. Wine was a little pricy.
Great food and service!
The food was good and a bit spicy. the waiter was very attentive.
The price was correct.
Best East Indian food in Edmonton!!!!
Nice menu. Good service. Very quiet
The food was tasty and it's a nice cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately the service over the lunch hour was terrible, and we waited almost half an hour to have someone take our order, followed by another half an hour before food was served. Budget at least 2 hours here if you are going for lunch!
There were a few Christmas luncheons on the go so it was busy and noisy. The location was just about full. The lone waiter impressed me by getting all the tables covered in relatively short order.
It took a while to get our food (1/2 hour) but mostly due to the volume I expect.
The food came hot to table and was very well prepped (gnocchi), pepper would have been nice but the waiter jumped to look after other tables.
If you’re not in rush, the food is well worth the wait. If you’re tight on time you might want to save it for another time - I am looking forward to dessert next time!
We visited Cafe Select for our dept. Christmas lunch. There were already other work parties in the restaurant when we arrived and so the noise level was quite high, but we only added to this! We had pre-ordered our food and everything was brought to us in a timely and efficient manner. We recommend this approach for any other large groups. Our food was tasty, warm and the portions were generous. We also all ordered desserts and were not disappointed. We will probably go again.
The food was great, but the service was quite slow, and it wasn't even that busy.
The water placed on the table wasn't very cold.
Due to one of the persons being later than the reservation time, they were understanding.
When we arrived we were greeted welcomingly.
We were given suggestions of food.
There were items on the menu we had not had; we ordered!! Deliciously different.
Seemed to be food created and cooked there.
We had choices of strength regarding spiciness.
The portions were large; take home for a nice snack.
We will be returning; we recommend others to give this place a taste!!
Our first time here-on a Saturday. We booked a 1,000 pt time at 5:30pm - the place was empty.
We were the only diners there for about half hour when another couple arrived. The staff was all on the second level talking loudly, organizing for a buffet lunch the next day. No one seemed to notice the new diners had arrived. The gentlemen had to walk thru the restaurant and announce himself before someone paid attention and sat them down. Not very good.
Overall the place is just OK. The atmosphere, decore and service -- all just okay. The meal choices had half western/International food and half was Indian style. We opted for local international meals rather that the Indian this night as we were both recovering from the flu and weren't sure how our system would react to Indian spices. The food however was above average. So kudos to the cook(s).
My husband ordered a pasta dish and I ordered the lamb. We shared a mushroom puff-pastry appie. The meals were well prepared and tasty. However someone else, other than our waiter, brought out the food and placed the dishes in front of us incorrectly. Assuming as a woman I had the pasta and my husband the lamb. It would have been more professional to either ask us-or-locate the meal ticket which may have indicated who at a table of two ordered what dish.
However that was minor. The portion sizes were quite large for the meals. I could barely eat half my lamb dish and my husband ate about 75% of the pasta. We took home the leftovers.
Dinner for two, (one appie, 2 mains and 1/2 lt of wine) with tax and tip = $100.
A mis-awarded 100pts instead of the 1,000pt that we booked (and email verified) was a big error on their part -- therefore, due to the just "okay-ness" of it all, we most likely won't be back. Opentable client service said it was most likely a restaurant error -- not sure if "Select" are so new to OT and therefore don't understand the system - but that can hinder future diners. OT fixed the error.
Great food was the bottom line. They were a little overwhelmed and forgot our wine order for a little while. that was the only negative. The food is outstanding and the service very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Very tasty food, friendly service . Good experience.
We had a variety of dishes.
The least favourite dish was lamb kabobs.
It was quiet on the night we dined, Mid week evening. It was relaxing. I would recommend to others and definitely eat here again.
The restaurant was very quiet. THe server was attentive to our needs and the meal was delicious.
The food was great , probably the best Indian I’ve had . A little bright for a evening restaurant . Also a bit disappointed with the wine list , we went on a Saturday night, and they were almost completely out of red wine. Over all was a good experience. Something to be aware of, gratuity is included in your bill, but they won’t inform you if this.
By ordering our food ahead of time, Café Select was able to ensure that the time that we had for lunch was met. The food was fantastic and all of the people at the table were very happy with their orders.
Overall a nice restaurant with a expansive menu. They were short staffed so service was a little slow, but aside from that the service was good. The food is good, although the portion sizes between different menu items seem inconsistent, some items seem to provide hearty servings and others might leave someone wanting a snack later.
