This restaurant never disappoints! Seafood is fresh and inventive, and oysters are perfectly shucked!
Amazing time as always. And Catherine was the best waitress! Her recommendations were great!
We had a few mixed cocktails, each a generous portion, and made quite well.
We spilt 3 appetizers. The raw oysters were of top quality and perfectly shucked. The baby clams with a somewhat spicy chorizo was also excellent.
However the avocado toast was really subpar. The “toast” was not made from a decent bread, and the avocado was extremely lemony. We couldn’t even eat it — a 1 out of 5 stars.
Best Lobster ROLL S im town!! Great Location !!! I will cone back
Consistently delicious !! Thumbs up all around . Highly recommended
Seated in back room which is was terrible.
Went for lunch. Had 2 entrees (lobster roll and bouillabaisse) for 4 of us, along with many starters including dozen oysters, beet salad, petit clams, scallops, white anchovies - all were delicious and served hot. Tip included with bill, was surprised by that, but appropriate amount. Did not like requirement to provide credit card information when making reservation.
Amazing food as always, but the service is what puts this place over the top. Andrew was fantastic.
No desert - I couldn’t surprise my husband with candle -desert
Great place, will be happy to go back again soon!
The best fish in Boston by far.....and the service is always warm and friendly!!!!
Seafood, Oysters, Octopus and White Anchovies, were all delicious and very fresh. Beer and wine list were quality. It was a little hard to hear the bar tender and for them to hear us. A good vibe. Very expensive!
What a lovely restaurant! Dined with my friend on Saturday. We were greeted at one point or another by all the staff as we were waiting for our seats. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is a bit small, and there’s not exactly anywhere to wait without being in the way. We shared the Hamaki crudo, three different kinds of oysters, and the halibut and swordfish. The oysters were my favorite. The fish portion on both entrees was very generous and the flavors were creative. I believe you get what you pay for, and this place is worth it. My only comment is the oysters are a little pricey.
Best seafood in Boston. Food is fresh, creative without being overwhelmed by the seasoning. Wonderful food and the best staff anywhere.
Seafood not very fresh. Cuisine taste is moderate. Heard about this restaurant run by ex-chief of Neptune Oyster. Yet hard to compare with it. Not a good experience for foods at all.
Food was very good food and nice ambiance but not sure why they tack on a 20% gratuity automatically. The service isn’t amazing and the prices are high. Glass of wine $18. Entrees are overpriced.
Awesome oysters and seafood. The octopus was fantastic.
The room is dynamic and active. The food was a welcome update to the traditional fish house fare. Excellent!
Two main concerns I had with this meal. The first was the overall price was much higher on average than comparable restaurants. Secondly, the food was just average. While the fish quality was excellent, every dish we had was lacking salt, acid and flavor.
This was my 3rd or 4th time at select. absolutely love this place and had the best cocktails!!
A little pricey but the menu and plates were very well thought out, flavors outstanding and the service impeccable. Venue is small but don't be fooled there is a lot here.
Good food , need better bar seating. The seats were far too uncomfortable especially given the high end prices.
Really great experience. Reservation was for 9pm, we got there and only waited for 5min. All staff was attentionate and knowledgable. Food was amazing. Portions were perfect. Great wine selection and amazing quality of fish.
Went out with my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day and they did not disappoint very good food and service highly recommended.
Very nice dinner with fresh and interesting sea food, but somewhat expensive.
I love this place! Great fresh food, wonderful people.
Super friendly and efficient staff, excellent food and a great evening out.
I always make a reservation each time I travel to Boston. The specials are truly amazing, the menu is spot on and the wine selection is inspired. Service is fun and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to go again. Reservation needed.
Started with the oysters, which our waiter helped us with. The James River oysters were delicious! If I ever find them again, I’ll take a dozen for myself.
2 additional appetizers - octopus and cauliflower- did not disappoint. We ordered up haddock, swordfish and the whole sea bream. All quite good and we achieved clean plate club status.
Would have enjoyed a dessert, but none are available.
Overall - great service and food. It’s our 3rd time eating there.
Fantastic food! So fresh and creative!
While every other restaurant seems to have figured out how to take a reservation, Select Oyster Bar called me before our night out to let me know I would have to leave in time for the next reservation at my table. Then we sat in awe as the table next to us was asked to leave, for another reservation was coming in. So all we thought about was hurrying through the meal. Food great, service terrific; terrible experience eating out.
This is our go-to place for oysters. Both my father-in-law and I love them, and we go to Select a few times a year to share a few dozen, a bottle of wine, and some salad afterwards. (They don't have a green salad on the menu, but will bring you one if you ask for it.) There are no cheapie oysters here, but it's all extremely good quality. Catherine is a wonderful server, who even knows us by name at this point. We usually go for lunch, when it's quiet and we don't feel rushed.
If this isn’t the best seafood restaurant in Boston it ought to be!
I was slightly disappointed that there was no acknowledgement of my birthday, which was indicated in the reservation notes. However, the food was exceptional. Some of the best fish I’ve ever had.
We have never had a bad bite at Select Oyster. This. Last visit was a larger group. Service was team oriented and super efficient. They read the table and allowed our group to enjoy each other’s company and meal without unnecessary interruptions.
Catherine and the bartender were knowledgeable and so hospitable. We live dining with you. The seafood is so fresh.
We didn’t know that when u make a reservation you don’t get a private table
As people who know how Cerviche should be served with corn and it was not. Next, my mussels did not come with the proper fork but more importantly no spoon! How does one enjoy the broth without one. Lastly our bill included a 20% gratitude for only two people. I do not agree. Overall, not convinced to go back based on prices and service.
Absolutely the best seafood dishes in Boston! I could go for more oysters right now.
No better seafood anywhere in Boston. None. Boston Magazine was right.
... and the Oysters!
