Scalini Fedeli - Chatham
It doesn't get any better than this. Scalini has become our go-to spot for birthdays and anniversaries. However, as elegant as it is, it remains a relative bargain. The price fixed dinner will leave you full for several days and basking in the afterglow. During the week, you can BYO with no corkage charge. We are very lucky to have this place in Chatham.
Very well done
Thank atmosphere and service were excellent. I noticed only one table vacant yet they treated us like the only table there. My 1st course of risotto with mushrooms was just wonderful as my second course of veal Milanese was so soft you didn’t even need a knife to cut it. My only complaint was the Creme Brûlée and upon mentioning it to my server I had someone come from the kitchen in less than 2 minutes with coffees and another dessert on the house! Totally not necessary but so smart on their part. An acknowledgment with an apology would have been ok with me them bringing another dessert and coffees sealed the deal that we would return and tell others how please we were. Matter of fact I work in the hotel industry and think they would be the idea place to refer my client/customers to as I would feel totally secure that they too would have a wonderful experience. Many thanks to the staff and chefs at Scalini Fedeli you made our night!
Amazing food and service ! Our favorite date night place for years
Great New Years' dinner, the wait staff was very attentive. Food was delicious from start to finish
My food was perfect as always. Love The wait staff and Andes is an absolute gem. Love him. Scalini Fedeli is the best restaurant in the Essex, Somerset and Morris county area. Great food, great atmosphere and great customer service.
Every time I come here I have a great meal and service. This time I had the pork chop... Best I ever had.... You will not be disappointed.
From start to finish our meal and service was superb! The meal is 5 courses and every course was flavorful and had you wanting more. We cannot wait to go back.
Another marvelous night at Scalini! Before I came to the restaurant for the first I thought it was a bit antiquated but gosh I was so wrong. It has a charm that you don’t see in many places anymore. Our waiter was so calm and patient, even though the restaurant was almost full, we didn’t feel rushed at all.
We had an absolutely delicious meal from the appetizer to the dessert. It had been awhile since we dined there last but we certainly will be back sooner than later.
It Was fantastic dinner I loved it so much and the service was spectacular 😍
Thank you for a great evening, it was worth to have a later reservation.
Excellent food but otherwise not nearly up to the level of Serenade, it's neighbor. It's physically gloomy and is bad need of an update to the decor. Service was fair, at best. Expensive, but good value for cost.
Great atmosphere and excellent service. Looking forward to coming back.
For that special occasion, Scaleni Fedeli will always impress.
This is one of the best restaurants in nj / nyc area. The food is fantastic and the service unbelievably great. I have been a long term customer and now that I live in the Midwest only get to SF on business when here. Wish I could take it with me.
Dinner was wonderful and such a great deal at the price for the prix fixe. The waitstaff was pleasant and courteous as was the valet. The cocktails were mixed perfectly - neither overly alcohol tasting nor watered down. While the menu was a little daunting as everything looked wonderful, we were never rushed and were able to make good choices.
They brought an appetizer of grilled shrimp in some sort of delicious sauce which was a surprise treat. The portions for the Primi Piatti and the Piatti de Mezzo could have each been an entree on their own. We could not finish it and had to bring some home. Then came a pineapple sorbet palate cleanser before dessert. The creme brulee was so good that even though I was full, I still ate it all. Fortunately there was coffee to help settle things down as well.
All in all, the 2 hour dining experience was relaxed and a wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary!
This was our first visit to Scalini and won’t be our last! Everything was incredible! The food is amazing. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The cocktails made just right and a wine list that would satisfy the most selective wine enthusiast! Overall fantastic evening!
Had a great time and the food was excellent. Our waitress Kimberly was great.
One of our favorite restaurants in New Jersey. Food was outstanding and the service was excellent and very accommodating to our special dietary needs. Would highly recommend.
Very nice restaurant. We went there for lunch. The service was very good. The food was good. The desert was excellent. We had Cream Brulé. It was enjoyable. We weren’t rushed
Excellent food. Great selection
Have been here many times for special occasions ! Love the food, and the quiet of a weeknight reservation. Our party loved the Linguini Carbonara, Mushroom Risotto, Short Ribs and the Salmon. Deserts were divine.
Good, not great food in a home -type atmosphere. Service is just okay with the 5 (it's really 3) course dinner at $59 not as good a value as it seems. It's really only an app - main - dessert. Food is about romance and truly caring about how customers enjoy their dinners. Did not get much of that last weekend (Sat PM). Anyway good enough to go back, but certainly not in any rush.
From the moment we step into the restaurant, the dining experience was perfect. John, our waiter was cheerful with his smile and his charm. As this was our first time there, he saw to it that our service was spot on. And then there was the meal. From the amuse bouche -- a delicious bite of flavors -- to our after-dinner cordials, our palates were truly satisfied.
For our starters, we chose the Bibb Lettuce And Haricot Vert Salad with prosciutto di parma and ricotta salata and the Mushroom Ravioli with a porcini and black truffle cream sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. The porcini mushrooms were nothing short of spectacular! They practically melted my mouth they were so smooth.
Our entrees included the Lightly Pounded Parmigiano Crusted Rib Pork Chop with a prosciutto and tricolor salad for me and the other half had the Thinly Sliced Breast Of Duck In A Port And Truffle Reduction with a potato puree that was "to die for!" The duck was an exquisite mouthful of muted flavor, never overpowering, but subtle and not gamey at all. The pork chop as well was cooked to perfection, topped with the salad and prosciutto making a tasteful blend that was savory and fresh at the same time. A total delight.
Buy aside from the meal itself, the ambiance of the room was relaxing and welcoming, giving one the sense of familiarity, not quite like one's own home, but that of a place that reeked of home-style hospitality--someplace where you knew you'd have to return to at some point. Even the other patrons in the restaurant were friendly and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The decor added to the aura--from the extremely comfortable chairs to the arched, burnt-orange ceiling, fine dining was written all of the place.
In closing, we were certainly glad the evening turned out so nicely, as we were celebrating our Anniversary. We had received a gift certificate and for that reason, it was our first visit. But thanks to our waiter, John, we shall return.
Always a phenomenal meal
Just exploding flavors in all the dishes
The mushroom ravioli in the truffle cream sauce was to die for
And the pork shank amazing
We had 9 people and not a single complaint
Worth every penny
We were greeted warmly by the staff as soon as we walked through the door. The food was delicious and dessert left us wanting more. I highly recommend this place to
Anyone looking for great service and quality food.
Simply outstanding. From start to finish. The experience for our anniversary was superb like we are used to. Impeccable friendly service and great atmosphere. The short ribs are to die for. A true neighborhood gem. We will be back soon.
This is absolutely the best food and best dining experience in NJ.

Excellent food and attentive service. Will come back!
Once again Scalini was outstanding, Had a great anniversary dinner, food and service was spot on! We liked the new addition of half bottles to the wine list, can’t wait to return!
My evening at Scalini Fedeli was phenomenal, to say the least. From the wait staff to the exceptional preparation of each course, all the way to the ambience. Their high vaulted ceilings are beautiful and the dining room feels very cozy. For the price we paid, we got everything we could’ve hoped for. Everything was simply delightful. My waiter Andrés was especially great. He was attentive, quick to check if I needed anything, and always approached my table with a smile. He was the definition of hospitality. I was also intrigued by the wine list. Such an extensive collection, and diverse too. Whether you prefer merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet, port; there is truly something for everyone to enjoy. I also want to mention that the pastry chef in particular is an artist. I’ve rarely seen a dessert so beautifully put together, and with a heavenly taste to match. I had the banana tart for dessert and I am extremely happy with the way it came out. By the time I got to dessert and coffee, I was completely stuffed but I did not leave a single crumb left on my plate from that banana tart! It’s safe to say that I will be back real soon. My wife just adored it. Exceptional evening!
My only complaint was there was an issue with several items on the menu not being available and we weren’t told until we were ready to order.
Would have gotten 5 stars except the bus staff was intrusive. Reached across me to take my husbands dish, took dishes before we were done and generally rushed. Food always great (tho ravioli app was cool not hot). Rest of dinner and dessert delicious.
Loved our evening and dinner. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and kind.
We loved our evening at Scalini Fedeli. Great food nice ambience and good service. Good value for the cost. We went with friends. Hadn’t been there for years. We’ll return soon. More food than we could consume. If you’re someone who likes large portions, this place is for you. Noise level was moderate. We were aware of other conversations around us but didn’t interfere with hearing our dining companions. Inventive menu.
The best Italian in new jersey
Consistently great! Our go to restaurant in NJ. Never lets us down.
