My brother & I had a special weekend in NYC. Unfortunately the blackout occurred while we were finishing desert, but the entire meal was amazing.
Over 20 years, this has been our first disappointing meal at Sardi’s. The meat cannelloni serving was half its usual size and the chicken club sandwich was dry. A poor start to a special theatre evening.
Perfect spot for three friends to meet for lunch. Service was friendly and accommodating to some special requests. Prix fixe luncheon had a variety of choices for each course, a bit pricey but it is NYC. Especially enjoyed the ambiance of famed Sardi’s portraits on the walls.
We don’t come to NYC that often because we live in Pennsylvania, but when we do come in to see a play, we always have lunch or dinner at Sardi’s. We love the ambiance, service, and especially the pictures of all the celebrities on the walls. This time we booked a reservation for after the theatre at 10:30pm. The play started late, and, therefore, ended late, so we arrive about 25 minutes late for our reservation. I felt terrible about being this, but the maitre d’ was a lovely man who put me at ease, and told me not to worry. We thoroughly enjoyed our light meal that evening. Looking forward to another visit next time we come to the City.
Pre theater. On time. Good selection. Steps away from Helen Hayes theater.
Terrific job at serving an excellent meal with just one hour to go before the curtain. Very efficient operation with good food and prices that are very reasonable for Manhattan. The décor is a wonderful 1960s time capsule. Go and enjoy this institution.
Good service pre theatre
Great pre-show dinner spot. Classic NYC staple. Food was on point and server was kind about stretching out our dinner until show time. She let us just sit and enjoy our meal and drinks. It was nice to not be rushed out.
We enjoyed our visit, it was very late so we didn’t eat much. We were excited about visiting such an iconic restaurant
I love this classic East Coast Italian restaurant for its Broadway vibe, its excellent service, and good food. We had a nice corner booth on the second floor right by the window. Service was warm and efficient, but not rushed. The food was well prepared and delicious. Our fellow diners, also theater goers, were very friendly neighbors. My favorite restaurant on Broadway.
Sardi's is always a winner! We had the BEST waiter
who could not have been more attentive, and it
was directly across the street from the theatre
we were attending.
ONLY ONE problem....and I'm afraid there is
no solution! The rest rooms are two flights up
which makes it difficult for some older folks!!!!
Regardless, GO!!!! To Sardi's that is!!!!!
Food was average at best and certainly not worth the price. Fun ambiance and good service, but won’t be returning.
Very nice meal after the show! Classic restaurant!
Pre show. We wanted to do old school NY for the kids who hadn’t experienced it.
Very expensive but great service and delicious food. Did I mention it was expensive?
Comfy, convenient, experienced wait staff. Very well prepared food.
We had a noon lunch planned before a broadway show. We sat at once. Friendly staff. Convenient location with a fun atmosphere with celebrity caricatures plastered on all the walls. I gave it four stars because the rice in my chicken rice soup was still hard and not fully cooked I returned and it was not taken off the bill.
An iconic restaurant within the theatre district, Sardi’s must be experienced. Pricier than other restaurants.
Perfect place for a pre-Wicked meal!
Great place. Always have to come here when we visit NYC!
So convenient after a show. Will go back with friends.
EXCELLENT service, friendly and efficient!! Excellent food! Our Beverage glasses were never empty and bread variety kept coming! Great environment after or before seeing a show! We will definitely return! 5 STARS!!
Very good. Food was delicious just feel like restaurant itself is a little rundown. It needs a bit of a facet no pun intended! Service was great. Has a wonderful time after matinee.
Service was ok at best the maitre d dropped our menus and walked away did not offer to seat ladies in my party. Food was way over priced this was at least our 15th time at Sardi ans will be our last they are living an old reputation.
We always take our granddaughters to Sardi's after theatre when we take them to NYC for their first time (when they turn 16). As usual, Sardi's provides great service, great food, and great ambiance. We like to have the girls see what "class" is like and Sardi's is our way of showing them.
Sardi's is our go-to place when my best friend and I see a show. We particularly like sitting at the downstairs bar if we can get seats. We always start with the Ritz crackers and crock of cheddar and then share appetizers. I was just slightly disappointed that they now charge $9.00 (!) for the crackers and cheese. In the old days it was gratis. Oh well....But we still love Sardi's and the service and the food is always quite good, in particular the smoked salmon and the steak tartare.
Decor is tired, the food was not great and the cocktails were weird. Manhattan served in a wine glass?
Over rated. Was given indifferent service and food was just ok...so many better places in NY that are better. Place is living on possibly their legacy.
We arrived early and enjoyed drinks upstairs. Our meal was delicious, served with care and unexpectedly we even saw a famous actress. Could you ask for a better evening?
It is my granddaughters favorite in nyc after a show
We had a pre- show lunch and were seated immediately. Service was very good; waiter asked right away what time was our show. Food was delicious. Fun ambiance!
Sardi’s never gets old - an exciting spot in NYC to eat before a show!
We enjoyed an early dinner on a Tuesday before the Phantom and scheduled an hour and a half. It was a delightful evening and we walked straight from desert over to our seats in the Majestic theater. Our entre's were perfect and the cheese cake was the best I have had in NYC. It was a little tight getting to the theater - what I learned was to book 2 hours for dinner prior to the performance. Will definitely be coming back.
Surprised at the portion size, very big. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. Went because of the nostalgia. The wait staff is great. Old school servers and loved looking at all drawings. Glad I went, but wouldn’t rush back. It is a very convenient location if seeing a show, which we were, so also picked for time. Reservation honored and sat right away.
I love Sardi’s so much - a historical gem that has retained its fantastic aura without getting shabby. I love the classics on the menu and I also enjoy the new innovative items. Please never change the decor and keep all the wonderful old school waiters that make it such a treat to dine there.
As a theatre aficionado, I've passed by Sardi's forever. Now that I've finally been there, I really enjoyed the food and the experience and look forward to my next visit.
Excellent service and food, in addition to the normal menu you see online they have daily specials which we selected from. My wife had the spinach lasagna and I had the meatballs and pasta, Sardi’s cake and baked Alaska for desert which were both amazing! Timing was perfect to eat at 6:15 and walked into our show across the street at ten minutes till 8! The history and caricatures make the ambiance warm and genuine.
Loved it!!! Dined here before going to a show, the staff were great, gave us space and time to enjoy while being aware of the time and that we were headed to a show!! Will definitely be back!!
Everything was great we’ve been there many times! Always food is excellent and service is usually superb.
I didn’t like the table he sat us at because my back is to restaurant and in front of me is the wall. In fairness I didn’t say anything but next time I will ask to be reseated. Otherwise all was great and coming to Sardi’s is always a treat.
