Sapori Italian Restaurant – Marina del Rey
Excellent food and service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend it.
Will be back again soon for sure. Also terrific music in the plaza, fun to hear and dance.
I have a reservation for one person at 2:30 in the afternoon, not a peak period for restaurants. When I arrived, I asked to sit inside. The staff at this establishment looked at me like I was an alien. They left me standing at the check-in counter with no one waiting for a table and several tables available inside. Either this establishment doesn't like single dinners (and Open Table accepted the reservation for one person) or the restaurant is just plain rude. Either way, I won't return.
My wife and I have been coming here for a few years. It's a great little spot with food we have never been unhappy with. Feels like family-owned and operated and with that comes an experience you don't get at a lot of places. It has it's own charm and when it's not packed in the marina circle area with hornblower guests waiting to board, it's a fantastic place for a sunset dinner and short walk up and down the walkway. We will continue to keep coming back and hope it's there for many years to come.
We had the best time ... hadn’t been there in a long time & it didn’t disappoint. Great food / great service / great time dining outside for Sunday brunch.
Great fast service and wonderful food
Inattentive service. Very poor food starting with stale bread. Too bad they have a nice location but everything else was not what I expect from a restaurant.
Wonderful lunch to celebrate a friends birthday. The halibut was outstanding as was the appetizer and the apple tart for desert. Nice wine list and ambiance. Always fun to listen to the live music on the plaza on weekends and watch people dance and have fun.
Good food, good service and a beautiful Marina Del Rey afternoon on the patio. The view of the boats/docks was a bit obstructed because the glass sections were a little higher than the seating (better view for the inside seats). but this did not detract from the overall experience. Also a good value as other ratings have noted.
We had a really lovely time. The food, service, and ambiance were excellent!
We were at Sapori, in Marine del Rey on a Monday and it was not very busy. But we were a party of 3 and our waiter was excellent-very attentive. The food was classic "hometown" Italian - Everything "house-made"; the pastas, sauces, fresh salads, etc. We had a cantaloupe and Prosciutto salad to share, a special of sautéed lamb tenderloins, with scalloped potatoes, and spinach and two pasta dishes (Farfallie with a garlic cream sauce and Fettuccine with mushrooms) - all were excellent and a very good value.
Local Marina gem, which we just discovered to which we are returning one week later.
DO NOT USE THE WAZE APP TO GET HERE!! This is a charming restaurant right on the dock at Marina Del Ray. The food was wonderful and we had a great table by the window which afforded a perfect view of the 4th of July fireworks after dusk.
However we used Waze to get there. It brought us to the opposite side of the marina, across the harbor from the actual restaurant! Because of the holiday traffic and road closures, it took us one hour to drive 2 miles to the actual restaurant (this time using Google Maps which had accurate directions). It would have been faster to swim across! So we were an hour late but the host was gracious and we only had to wait a few minutes for a table.
I highly recommend this restaurant, but if you’re relying on GPS to get there, just don’t use Waze! Very frustrating.
Such a hidden gem!
I had pretty much given up on finding a nice cozy Italian restaurant on the westside - with excellent food and reasonable prices. The ones which were reasonably priced were so-so and the really good restaurants were well beyond my budget. I only like 1 Italian restaurant in LA and it's on Sunset Blvd. But since I don't have a car, I can only go there when my friends take me to see a show in Hollywood. Once or twice a year.
Then I stumbled across this small restaurant in Fisherman's Village in Marina del Rey. We went in taking a chance thinking that if there's an Alfa Romeo outside, it might be good. And boy was it - it was so good! We have been back maybe 8 times in the last 3 months. Fresh, delicious food. Great wine list. Nice view. Attentive service and cozy and reasonably priced. It's become my favorite Italian restaurant in LA.
The best little gem in LA
Fabulous value for fabulous food right in the water!
Everything was great! We’ve dined here in the past and it was wonderful then also. The view at sunset is gorgeous, the food and service were perfect and it’s a very lively atmosphere.
Excellent experience incredible food great service
A hidden gem.
Wonderful view and setting, excellent food and professional and warm service.
Delicious food, great location and fantastic service. What more could you ask for!?
Very nice restaurant which we will go back to. Loved being on the water. The service was perfect. We did not like the main courses we ordered - not that they were 'bad' but just not to our liking
Very nice dinner
Presentation was great. The waiters were very attentive to us. It was my first time eating there we had guest from Philadelphia with us and they were very impressed with the menu and quality authenticity of the Italy food.
Quality of food - veal sclopini and fish dish- were disappointing. Need a better chef
Great local spot on the marina. Good food, good ambiance.
Small pleasant Italian Restaurant with good food, excellent view and a nice quiet place for lunch away from the more crazy popular places in Marina del Rey
Great spot to meet friends , great wine, great food and nice to look on bay!
44 wedding anniversary / they didn’t recognize my anniversary at all but it was a nice evening
Loved this restaurant and it being my first time. The food and Prosecco was excellent. Will definitely go there since it's in my neighborhood.
We had reservations for 8:30 but there were no tables available until about 9:15. I was starving and looking on my phone for a different place to eat when we were finally seated. While we were waiting the manager or owner repeatedly came over to us and blamed the wait on diners who arrived late, without apologizing or offering anything. (Reservations are to help manage table seating, so it's management's fault -- NOT diners' fault -- that they allow so many people to be late-seated that reservation holders have to wait so long.) By this time I was already irritable ("hangry"). The very noisy environment added to my vexation. It was so noisy I eventually stopped trying to talk and listen to my dining partner. The food was good but not memorable. The salads were good and very attractive but large enough for 2 1/2 people. Nothing was said about this on the menu or by the servers. (The prices on the menu should have been a clue but I missed it.) The bread was very disappointing, airy slices without crust. For the main course I had the "square" (long and thick) spaghetti with seafood; I chose the tomato-based sauce. It was quite good and even better as leftovers the next day. I will not go back. If you do go, make early reservations so you'll eat when you want to and will be able to enjoy the view of the Marina (which of course we didn't have since it was dark).
Very quant, nice small atmosphere. Manager gets his hands "dirty." Authentic Italian food. View of boats on the water. Restaurant is one compact room, but gives you that real Italy vibe. Perfect for a date with a significant other. Highly recommend.
The food was good. Service and staff were unbelievably wonderful. Our waiter explained all foods that DID NOT have rosemary (my allergy) and brought a sundae with a candle in it for my sister's bday and it was such a happy surprise for her. Wonderful restaurant, clean, charming and we loved it!
Authentic Italian food, reasonably priced in an attractive setting overlooking the water. Good service from knowledgeable staff.
Sapori has become my getaway restaurant for those days when I take the red eye home to new York. It is always a satisfying meal, and the ambiance is terrific.
Wednesday's meal featured fresh made Rigatoni with Ossobuco sauce, with a fresh burratta and tomato appetizer. Delicious!
Though we've lived here in Marina Del Rey for over 20 years, neither my friend or I recall seeing this place before, much to our loss. Sapori is a quaint, lovely little authentic Italian restaurant in Fisherman's Village. Beautifully finished, it's cozy, comfortable and warm. The owner is a very nice Italian gentleman who helped through the wine list and the menu and everything, from the breaded shrimp appetizer to the chocolate mousse cake desert, was absolutely delicious. One caveat, the place is small during the winter months as they don't serve on the patio...make a reservation!
Been there a few times. The food was very good. A little hard to see the menu in the low lighting. Also, a little hard to hear due to lots of hard surfaces. Sounds like I am getting old. Those are the only negatives and I still recommend it for good Italian food.
I love this place -- the food, the location and the service.
My go to place before heading to LAX for the red eye home to New York.
