The food was good. We had mussels, French toast, burger and chicken panini. They were all good, tasty but not exceptional. The service was excellent and the decor was very French Provence. Perfectly good but nothing out of the ordinary.
We love Saju! It is our go-to restaurant in the Theatre District. Delicious food, excellent wine and a cozy "Provence" atmosphere. Our daughters love the French onion soup. We always look forward to our after Broadway dinners there!
First trip to New York from England , we booked for Thanksgiving and I must say it was wonderful the good was delicious and our waitress was fantastic , food came quickly was hot and yummy , water glasses too up without needing to ask.
Had a wonderful first experience and would definitely would go back.
Excellent service, lovely place for a leisurely lunch.
We have often dined at Sakura when visiting New York City. We always enjoy the food and experience but this year was the best ever. The food was outstanding and the service (we ate in the bar) was great.
While the food is fine, it’s pricey for what you get and there are great restaurants with comparable prices nearby. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. And the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. I wouldn’t avoid it, but I would more likely return to other restaurants before settling on Saju Biatro.
Not really everyday dining we were at the theater and this was across the street and we never ate her before so we thought we would give it a try.Everything was delicious and we will be back
This place has become our go to restaurant when we are in the theater district. The food is delicious, they have a good wine list and the prices are fair. Our waiter has been the bartender there before so we recognized him. We had already been to the theater and we were not rushed. We had a lovely meal and we will definitely return when we are in the neighborhood. Highly recommend.
Saju Bistro is an amazingly charming restaurant on the edge of the Theatre District. The servers were very professional, and ensured that we would make our 8 PM curtain. The ambiance is very "old world" with lots of wood adorning the dining room. We ordered the mussels provencal; the portions were generous. I would recommend this restaurant, especially for theatre-goers.
Fine pretreated French choice. They did a good job getting us out in a timely way despite computer issues.
Before I made a reservation, I always check that there are gluten free options. That’s one reason why I chose this restaurant. Immediately after being seated, I ordered hot tea while waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. Someone brought me hot water with no tea bag. Eventually I flagged down the waiter and reminded him that I needed a teabag. Then I asked if they had a gluten-free menu. The waiter said I can only have a salad. Two others wanted pasta with just sauce and cheese. The waiter wasn’t sure the kitchen could do that. The waiter also forgot to bring my wine. Once reminded, he brought the wrong kind. At the end of the meal, he told us that we need to pay in cash because the system was down. Good thing we could pool together enough cash!
The only redeeming feature is the food was good.
I however will not go back.
Lovely spot for a pre-theater lunch close to all of the Broadway shows. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and an extensive menu for either brunch or lunch. Our food was very good, the service prompt and the noise level was perfect for conversation. I would definitely come again and recommend to others. I have been to many restaurants in the theater district over the years and this ranks up there as one of the best finds.
The food was outstanding. This will be our go to restaurant every time we are in Manhattan. Our Waiter Hunter was exceptional and made our visit extra special. Great experience
We had another great meal at Saju pre theater. The service is attentive and the food is fabulous.
Always excellent, save room for cheese plate for dessert.
Our server was wonderful as well as the cuisine.
One of my favorite spots in Manhattan. The food is always awesome and the service is excellent
Cozy and good food!
We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. Our waitress was extremely disappointing. One of our dishes was inedible and should have been taken off the bill. On top of bad service and adequate food, the waitress had the audacity to suggest a 20 per cent tip when we received the bill.
I am very hesitant to recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful place. There used to be great, authentic Frenc bistros all over Hell’s Kitchen and the Theater District. Now just a few really good ones—and fewer with great food and a lively post-theatre crowd. Saju fit the bill in all respects: lovely atmosphere (great for a date), great menu selections, excellent food, great service, low noise level...and even great background music. Nice wine list too. We had the pâté campagne, octopus (with a delicious eggplant spread), lamb shank and the wonderful boneless rabbit with gnocchi. And a nice bottle of Vacqueyras for $50. Florabelle, our server, was great. We’ll definitely return often!
Very good food, wonderful ambiance
Our third visit and our accolades remain the same = professional, amiable service, terrific food and ambience.
First time here. Will definitely return. Was a post theater dining experience so the big rush was over but still the staff was extremely efficient. Our wait time of food was quick and the food was very very nice. Everyone was pleased and the price points were very fair.
We loved the food — bouillabaisse was a different flavor than what we’re used to but chocked full with variety of fresh seafood and the special chicken with orange sauce and figs was delicious. Ambiance was great. the wait staff was professional. We had theater tickets and were able to enjoy a leisure dinner without a rush. Price was right on. Bravo!!!!!
Charming, cozy ambience and fabulous classic bistro cuisine! Escargot is to die for! Also recommend the bouillabaisse!
The ambiance is warm and inviting. The food was delicious and the staff so wonderful
Theater date- Saju Bistro is well located near Broadway theaters
This is a great place to go for a pre theatre meal, especially if you are seeing a show playing in a theatre east of Broadway. The food is always reliable and the service is as quick as you want it to be . Reservations recommended as it can get crowded.
Loved the food and loved the atmosphere. They were fantastic with the service.
Beautiful setting, courteous service and delicious food !
Saju Bistro is a reliable option for lunch, brunch or dinner in the theater district. It is a short walk from Bryant Park and the B and D subway lines, and convenient to most Broadway theaters. The onion soup is outstanding, as if the goat cheese ravioli. Excellent steaks and fish as well as escargot and other French specialties. Highly recommended.
This is BY FAR our favorite pre-play spot to enjoy a great dining experience. We have never been disappointed. The staff is very accommodating and food excellent. I can't wait for our next play!
We like to eat there every time we’re in New York
Good atmosphere, attentivley service, good food, we enjoyed
Went to a business breakfast meeting. The food was good but the service was horrendous. 20 minutes just to get a coffee for the table.
The food and service are always excellent. SB never disappoints. It's a theater district gem.
Food was great. Wine perfect. Service great. Prices moderate.
This was my second visit to Saju Bistro.
Our server was kind and sweet, but not great. She never asked if we were seeing a show, which we were. I told her we were when our entrees arrived late. She continued to not use expediency and we had to remind her again when we ordered dessert. Until she is up to speed, she should not be working during dinner theatre time.
Restaurant came highly recommended. It’s very pretty and great location if going to the theater.
Service was poor, waited for bread, drinks way too long. The mussels had no flavor and when we told the waiter he wisked the plate away and never asked if I wanted anything else. When I finally got to speak with him he said he was doing his best. Other dishes were good but there are just too many other restaurant options to take the risk.
This is probably my 8th time coming to dine. Always consistent service, great food and atmosphere. Each time I come I bring new friends with me so they can experience the same great time that I always have.
