We had a large group and we expected some hiccups. There weren't many. Overall, the service was great. The restaurant was ready for our party when we arrived. Our group was seated timely. The food arrived in a timely fashion. There was only 1 or 2 orders that were delayed out of 22. We had a great time.

Everything was excellent. I made reservations just in case, but on a Monday at 5:30, they were not busy. Our service was great from start to finish. We had cocktails and wine- don't judge. The Tuna Tartar starter was so good. What a unique combination of ingredients. There was enough to share for 4 people. I had the chicken piccata and the fettuccini was perfectly cooked. The braised short rib stroganoff was so tender. Great portions. Plenty to have left overs after the starter. And since we were celebrating we shared a boozy shake for dessert. Seriously the best meal I've had in a while, and I eat out a lot.

Our waiter obviously didn't know the menu but server bring the food did.. my friend ordered the collegiate and he put in for vegetables hash telling us it was the same thing...smh.. problem was resolved. Other than that the shrimp and grits is the best in the dmv area 😋 it has right shrimp to grits proportion compared to other places who would give you more grits then meats... the shrimp devil egg was luke warm this time and salty but usually is on point... The wings were good... and baby that Oxtail yum 😋 fell right off the bone.

Overall very good. My Rockfish could have used a little more seasoning, but it was cooked perfectly. Our server did a great job despite having to wait on a huge party in another section of the restaurant. Prices were good.

About the restaurant
Butter Me Up on T St is now open! Butter Me Up was born as a ghost kitchen at the flagship Halfsmoke restaurant in Shaw, DC, and after winning best breakfast sandwich in DC, opened as its own brick and mortar stores, both in DC and Bethesda. We expanded our menu to include toasts, fresh smoothies, and a coffee program when opening these locations, but have kept our award-winning sammies as well. We also have a full bar and offer happy hour service daily. Late night hours coming soon!

We were there on Karaoke Thursday night. It was fun, but the service is a little bit slow.
