Found this gem while browsing Yelp, and the menu alone convinced me to make a reservation. It’s a small, cozy spot with a warm, intimate vibe—and we were greeted by the entire staff, which was such a nice touch. We started with the shrimp appetizer and guacamole—both fresh and flavorful. For mains, we had the flautas de lechón, arroz cremosa, enchiladas, and fish tacos. Every single dish was delicious, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. The service was outstanding—genuinely friendly and attentive. It’s BYOB, but they also offer mojitos and palomas, which were a great bonus. Overall, a hidden gem in San Antonio with amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a team that clearly loves what they do. Can’t wait to go back!

Located just a few minutes from downtown in architecturally rich Monte Vista neighborhood, La Fonda on Main is the oldest Mexican food restaurant in San Antonio. La Fonda serves both the best of Tex-Mex cuisine as well as authentic dishes of interior Mexico in a fun and casual setting with beautiful patio dining. We're open 7 days a week offering our full menu as well as family meals and catering options on curbside. Happy Hour is Monday-Thursday from 3pm-6pm. We offer a full bar with a wide variety of liquor, beer and wine. Saturday's and Sunday's we serve brunch from 10:00am-3:00pm. Our fabulous margaritas are made with hand-squeezed limes and your choice of a large selection of tequilas and mezcals. Our famous patio is heated from the ground up for chilly nights under the stars and lights in the trees.

The food was exceptional! The ENMOLADAS DE POLLO and the COCHINITA PIBIL were outstanding! We were a group of 7, celebrating my mom’s 90th birthday. The staff was very attentive and kind. We had a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommend this restaurant!

My wife and I went there for dinner last night. Hadn't been there before so didn't know what to expect. Very eclectic upscale ambiance. We ate on the patio which was perfect for the weather. I had the Mexican Lasagna - a twist on the Italian classic - and it did not disappoint. The skinny Margaritas - while a bit pricey - were beautifully presented and tasty. A must try.

I really hope this place is around for the long run!! We had the ceviche, the mole and the pulpo sarandeado and that was after 20 minutes of looking at the menu because everything looked so good. We already have plans to go back next weekend to try the next on the list. Great service and great food!
