What Insiders Are Saying
Bill and Giuliana Rancic force us to like them with excellent Italian food in a trendy setting.
Everything was great, aside from waiting 45 minutes after our reservation time to be seated.
Attentive service. Great tasty food.
Upscale Italian restaurant with standard italian dishes plus seafood and classic meat options. Extensive wine list with good (albeit pricy) options by the glass.
Especially enjoyed the carpaccio. Scallops were excellent quality.
My fiance and I came to RPM Italian for our last anniversary and couldn't have nicer things to say. The food was amazing. The drinks were ice cold. Andre, our server for the night, was the realest MVP. If you haven't stopped by RPM Italian for a drink or dinner, you're definitely doing it wrong. 10/10 would dine in again.
Terrible service. One entree was delivered luke warm. We brought it to the attention of the guy that brought the food out. He happened to be to sommelier. His response was quite snarky. He said, “I can warm it up or make you a new one.” No apology and his tone was that he was irritated. I used to love RPM, but there are far too many excellent restaurants in Chicago to go there again.
Positives: Delicious food, server and great restaurant vibe.
From the moment I walked into the restaurant the environment was elegant and sophisticated and the staff was friendly. We shared apps, entrees, and desserts and no complaints about any of the food. The prices were fair for the environment and taking in the cost of Chicago. RPM even gave out free gelato for my dads birthday celebration. Very high praises from this customer!!
The service was impeccable as well as most of the food. The pasta, unfortunately, was not up to it’s usual standards. It was a bit over cooked and the sauce was not quite right.
Homemade pasta was outstanding and made for a great second course. Great for date night and good food
The pasta was really good and our server was excellent, but it took a long time to get our drinks and an even longer time to get our food. I had an appetizer that was not so great, but I would go back and just get more of the pasta because that was delicious.
Had a lovely dinner after a show. The food and service was great. Nice modern, neutral decor. Will definitely return.
Love coming to RPM Italian, always great service and food. We had the Roman-Style Artichokes and Prime Beef Meatballs for appetizers, they did not disappoint. For dinner we had Spicy King Crab, made with squid ink spaghetti. Maine Lobster Ravioli, made with spinach pasta, yummy. RPM Steak frites and Creekstone Filet Mignon, both were prepared to perfection and had a side of Crispy Brussels Sprouts, a must order side dish. We only ordered the Summer Old Fashioned cocktails for the table, executed and delivered in fine fashion. Will definitely return and recommend. If you plan on dining out please make reservations, the guarantee a table.
Our waiter was not very personable or helpful with our children (ages 13 and 12). He acted like it was inconvenient that we shared entrees and was annoyed I ordered a reasonably priced glass of wine. The food was ok. Wish it was more authentic. It wasn’t bad but nothing spectacular....And we are not hard to please. We were disappointed in the experience and would not be eager to recommend this restaurant to other friends visiting this glorious city.
Our appetizer of Frito Misto was very oily and wish grilled would be an option. My pasta of cavatelli was in a very strong thyme sauce. I am Italian and I could not enjoy it it was so potent in taste. The cannoli was just ok but not authentic. Where was the ricotta and chocolate chip pieces? Just very disappointed.
Excellent food and great service!
Great food, fantastic service and experience. Celebrated a Birthday dinner and desserts were incredible (gelato better than any we’ve had in Italy), cheesecake was lperfect and the Bomboloni was a delectable donut surprise we were thrilled with.
Great restaurant with great food, great service as great vibe!
Been here before so expectations were high. Service was unusually long and took very long to order and server to check-in once food finally came out. I’ve had much better experiences here so to be honest was disappointed. Not sure it’s worth the money although food was good. There were tough pieces of crab in my seafood dish and couldn’t eat. I didn’t say anything because I figured it would take too long to remedy. The flavor was good and otherwise was cooked to order. Not sure I’ll be back though.
Shane was great
The food is amazing. The service is great and the environment is elegant!
The food was delish!
Everything about RPM was great!! Food, service, and ambiance were all spot on. Make sure you make it in here when you’re in Chicago
Family of four, our youngest is 3, had the best dinner. We will eat here every time we visit Chicago. Authentic, delicious Italian food. And as a side note, the beat margaritas I’ve had!!
Best restaurant I've ate at this year service was excellence the food was excellent
Best meatballs and love the homemade pasta and ricotta
I was so disappointed that their food was awful. The ambiance and service were excellent. The food was not good at all....
The atmosphere is great. The wait staff is awesome. The meatballs were as amazing as I’ve heard; they reminded me of my own mother’s, I truly enjoyed them. I was disappointed there weren’t “greens” on the menu. I expect that on a authentic Italian restaurant. Otherwise it was great and will definitely go back.
Request Andre Truss as your server and you will not be disappointed, he's the best in the business.
RPM is are FAVORITE!!! Food, Service, Ambiance is AWESOME!!!
RPM Italian offered a fantastic gluten free menu & never made us feel awkward in needing to attend to our diet needs!
First time to Chicago!
Great food, great service, great atmosphere--a wonderful dinner experience.
The 2.5 lb dry-aged porterhouse was my favourite. It was full of flavor, very tender and soft, which was a different texture than regular wet-aged steak. I believe RPM Italian and RPM steakhouse share the same source of the steaks.
We had two appetizers, lobster and prosciutto. The lobster was a little overcooked. The prosciutto is great, especially with bread. The two pasta dishes we had, spicy king crab squid ink pasta and carbonara, were worth to try. Everyone agreed that the pistachio gelato was fine and smooth.
Our waiter knew both the dishes and wine very well which was very helpful.
Hosts were great. Waitress was rude. Made us move a water bottle off the table (the restaurant is not that nice) and charged an entire side price for a side substitution.
Great experience great food great service
Great Italian food in a modern setting. Second time I've been there and enjoyed it both times.
Celebrated our three kids 20th birthday. Mentioned when made reservation. Server never knew or asked if we were celebrating anything special which surprised us as we were asked on a previous visit and heard another server ask the table next to us. We did have a very delicious meal that was safe for my celiac daughter-many options for her were appreciated. Our server was friendly and attentive. Bread or crackers that are celiac safe would be great to have available-hoping in the near future.
In the sea of choices to dine in Chicago, I keep coming back to RPM Italian for outstanding service, comfort and food and wine. Best prime meatballs on the planet. Short rib parpadelle out of this world. I make sure I come here -- for any meal -- brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour -- whenever I am back in Chicago!
Service and food was excellent. Highly recommend.
