   Disappointing. We were there as a party of 6 to celebrate a graduation. Service was good but very slow. Food, unfortunately, was not very good, especially considering the cost. An order of sea bass was overcooked and the fish and vegetables were barely warm when served. Mahi mahi was better, but dry. Scallops, according to the person who ordered them, were good. Ambiance was nice, despite a loud group next to us. We've been to other Roy's restaurants before which were very good. This one was not worth the money.

   There was a little glitch upon our arrival. I had reserved and received confirmation for an outdoor table which I truly wanted to better appreciate the activity on the boardwalk and Marina plus to view the sunset. However, when I arrived I was informed that just because I had a confirmation for a table on the outdoor patio did not guarantee that one would be available. The hostess said that Open Table would not permit them to add a statement that "Outdoor tables cannot be guaranteed and would be provided on a space available basis." That was initially very disappointing. However, the staff worked with us and finally was able to seat our party of 5 out on the patio deck albeit about 30 minutes later than our reservation time. The rest of our evening was wonderful. The host staff was very gracious and kept us updated on the outdoor table that they believed would become first available. Our server, Nick, was amazing both in terms of his positive, welcoming spirit and helpful, honest menu recommendations. Plus the drinks, starters, and entrees (especially the seafood) were totally delicious!! The support staff was also readily available to pour water and deliver the food to our table while it was still piping hot.....

   It’s pricey, but so worth it. Sitting on the San Diego harbor and watching people and boats come and go. The food is simply amazing! The wait staff (I say wait staff because it seemed like everyone was waiting on you!) was amazing. We wanted for nothing. Water glasses kept full, you finish a plate, it’s gone. Not in a hovering sense, but they were very attentive. One of the best meals we’ve ever had (and we go to a lot of quality restaurants) was at Roy’s in Palm Springs, so we went with high expectations. This one did not disappoint!

   The food was less than spectacular We were seated within 5 feet of the front door and every time someone opened the door, the wind almost blew one of us out of our chair and we had to s opt our chairs in as several people bumped into us as they left That being said, our server Lauren everything in her power to make up for all these deficiencies as well the fact that the Diet Coke machine did not work perfectly This was the best service, friendliest personality and nicest young person that my Bride and I have had in several years. Celebrating my Birthday at your restaurant was a mistake….. The only positive the entire night was our server, Lauren Gary Hull 619-994-6422

    the portions get smaller and smaller ,,,the kids plate is supposed to have three courses one showed up for both kids orders. the location that was a la jolla was way better much better value at the Cafe at nordstroms in la jolla or fashion valley

    My wife and I went to Roy’s for a special occasion. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and same entree for both of us. Drinks and appetizers were served. We didn’t expect a great quality and they barely met the acceptable mark. The glass of red wine that I was served was resting at the bottom of the glass, perhaps 4 ounces at the most. About 40 minutes after ordering the entree, the waitress came and apologized for the delay and assured us the order was being placed up front and it would be ready soon. Another 20 minutes passed , the waitress came and gave us a revised version of apology and said our entree would be ready soon. Ten minutes followed and the waitress came and said in a very apologetic tone our orders were still waiting to start cooking. At this point we asked her to give us the bill for the drinks and the appetizers which she did. We paid the bill and left. Well, I don’t need to state how we feel about this dining experience. The reader can guess it.

    Not worth it. We went during Mother's Day, which we totally understand is busy. BUT it should not take over an hour to get our appetizers. Not only that, but the food was subpar. My brother in law's steak was ordered medium, and it was RARE inside. Uncooked. They took it off the tab, which was nice, but we were just so disappointed.

    Mother's Day Brunch at Roy's was expected to be an enjoyable meal. It did not meet our expectations. We were a party of eight (including two children). There were two Mother's Day menus, a price fixe menu and a "regular" brunch menu. Although booster chairs were provided for the children, children's menus were not delivered to the table (we had to retrieve them ourselves). Several members of our group ordered from the fixed menu, others chose from the regular menu. None of the food was exceptional. The lettuce of the Caesar salad was limp and the dressing overly spicy. The steak/egg meals were presented with the steaks cooked less than requested and the sides lukewarm. The Mahi Mahi was served hot, but the other items on the plate were lukewarm, at best. None of the food was returned to the kitchen as we had had to wait too long for the food to be served. It appeared that the kitchen was unprepared or poorly timed, as several times we noted that the serving staff was hovering; waiting for food to be plated for service. All-in-all, we were somewhat disappointed with the meal.

    Service was exceptional! Ambiance was beautiful. The only issue I had was the filet and lobster tail had a sauce that was overly spiced and wasn’t listed on the menu. It over powered the entire plate. It was unfortunate.

    We had a Great Dining Experience at Roy's. The food was cooked perfectly. One of the best Lobster tails I've ever had. Our Server was fantastic. Attentive and super nice. Table with view of the marina was very nice. I would definitely eat here again and recommend to others.

    Food was very good as usual. Had light dinner with appetizers only but couldn’t resist Pineapple Upside Down cake for dessert. Bar service was also good as expected. Got there in time to enjoy the sunset over the marina. Overall serene experience.

    It was so weird. Really poor service. We reserved a table outside but on arrival were told we’d need to wait because they just seated a whole bunch of people outside. Once seated it took 20 min for the server to greet us and take drink orders, another 10 to get waters, another 10 to get our drinks. Another 20 minutes to get the appetizers. We had to finally ask the server if we could put in our entree orders. I opened my silverware to find…4 knives. Our server never told us any specials. We heard another server tell a table about the specials after we’d ordered entrees. Our server asked if we’d like dessert and said there was no printed menu. She told us there was chocolate soufflé or pineapple upside down cake. Later, after we ordered the chocolate soufflé, we heard another server telling their table the dessert options included those two options, plus key lime pie, some cheesecakes, etc. Ridiculous. The food itself was good, though overpriced. The service, ridiculous. Never again. Not worth it.

    Fantastic food, great service with a nice view. We had a date night and they brought us a free chocolate soufflé just because. Roy stopped by our table just to asked how everything was. Food was excellent and soufflé delicious. Would go back every time Im in San Diego.

    I couldn't give it five stars because they have "secret" specials that unless you know and ask about, they don't initially tell you about them. They have the equivalent of an early-bird menu M-F from 4pm to 5:30pm. It is a great deal and has more selections than a usual special menu. We had an early evening plane to catch so we made reservations for 4:30. Perfect for our situation. We were only given the regular menu and had to ask for the Pau Hana menu. On Wednesdays they also have all bottles of wine at half price. Again, we had to ask about it and our server said he would check if they're "still doing that". He reported back that they were, and we ordered a terrific Willamette Valley Pinot Noir at a very reasonable price. Food was excellent, our server, Spencer, was very attentive, the wine was outstanding, and it was a great dinner. If you're going to have specials to attract patrons, customers shouldn't have to ask for everything.

    One of us clearly indicated a food allergy. The waiter brought the unacceptable ingredient anyway. The lobster in the lobster bisque was so over-cooked that it was hard. Acoustics in this restaurant are terrible. It was so loud that conversation was not possible without shouting, which many were doing, amplifying the problem. Otherwise, the sea bass and deserts were fine, but not good enough to overcome the restaurant’s serious problems with lack of attention to detail, poor preparation, and noise. This was unlike any of the other of Roy’s restaurants that we’ve enjoyed.
