Rox City Grill
The staff are friendly, warm and very knowledgeable of the menu. We would go there again.
We love the server he is always great.
This is our second time eating dinner at Rox City Grill. We were staying at the Hotel Baker, and this makes it so convenient to have a dining room in the hotel. Our reservations were at 5:30, and we were promptly seated. Our server, Jacob, was very attentive to our every need. We were able to enjoy a cocktail before ordering dinner, and there was no rush. There was soft, smooth jazz playing in the background, which just added to the relaxed atmosphere. Complimentary warm crusty bread is served with your dinner, and replenished should you run out (which we did). Our meals were excellent. Since we were going to a concert, we didn't want anything too heavy, so my husband chose the Cobb salad, and I opted for the crab cakes, three small cakes presented nicely on a plate, and we shared an order of the Truffle Pommes Frites, which the generous portion is plenty for both of us. As a guest of the hotel, we received a 25% discount on our entire bill, which was very nice. I would highly recommend the Rox City Grill for dinner. Later that evening, there is also a trio playing music in the lounge, too.
Food was underwhelming as was the service. Expected it to be better.
Rox City Grill is always consistent with how good their food and service is. We had the Skewers, Lumpia and the Bone-in Ribeye Steak. They all were fantastic. The Lumpia was crispy and tasteful and the Ribeye was aged properly and done medium-perfect. Atmosphere is very pleasant and even live entertainment.
Everything was great. No complaints. The food, drink, options, & service are all what you would expect when going out for a night on the town, prior to seeing a show at the Arcada. We'll be back!
Lobster pots stickers were quite good. I was not expecting whole chunks of lobster inside.
Deep fried and crispy, not steamed like cat Chinese restaurants.
Also the cream sauce on the tortellini was superb, great texture and flavorful.
The scallops were seared golden brown and done perfectly inside, with genuine seafood flavor.
Small, very noisy, couldn't hear the live music over the room noise from the back of the room where we were. There was a wedding, and our meal took well over an hour to get - to be fair, the waitress and manager were very apologetic, there was a wedding that was temporarily slowing down the food. We were offered free food or drink, chose dessert, and a 25% off coupon for our next visit. My steak was slightly overdone, wife's was perfect. The waitress heard me comment on my steak and when we ordered dessert offered me a free steak to go, which I accepted.
Overall the meal was very good, I will give them another chance.
Went here before homecoming and the food was amazing! the server was doing very well with how busy it was. The steak and frites were perfect! One of the best filets i've ever had. My gf gave me some of her potatoes and those were to die for too. For desert i asked for bread pudding i think and a few minutes later our waiter came back and apologized for not having any and came back later with a complimentary lava cake with this amazing caramel ice cream that i highly recommend.
Phenomenal!!!! This trip was for the Simons-Karatheodore wedding week. My niece suggested Hotel Baker. I live outside of Philadelphia, Bristol Pa. Dinner at the Rox so delicious. All of the employees were fantastic. Highly recommended. Thank you. Mary L
Michael and his Team were "Over the Top".
Our service was"Attentive" and the Chef was Fabulous.
Our Cobb Salad and Skewers were perfect for the 2 of us.
Michael's attn to us was much Appreciated.
We are "Committed"!!!!
Disappointed in our filets. The meat was good but not the bordelaise sauce. New chef evidently changed recipe. Also entertainment was too loud for the small lounge area.
Service and food were both excellent. Recommend the NY strip and Lava Cake for dessert. Wine Flights also are a nice touch
We loved the place! The waiter was so helpful. We will definitely return. To food was so good.
Very pleasantly surprised. Excellent food and service. Only downside was that it is in a Riverside location with no view of the water.
Good food. Great service. Pricey. Small and more casual/dated than expected.
Outstanding food with an attention to detail both in the cuisine and the service. I had the crispy salmon, which was cooked to perfection - not too dry with a wonderful flavor. My sister-in-law had the tenderloin of pork while my sister and wife had the Caesar salads with chicken. All commented that their food was delicious. We shared the pot stickers and scallops as an appetizer as well as the mac and cheese with dinner. All were very good. Since it was my sister-in-laws birthday, they surprised her with freshly prepared sugar donuts with three dipping sauces (raspberry/mango, salted carmel, and chocolate). A wonderful end to a very good meal. We plan to return.
Good to know the Baker hotel and its amenities. The food it is good.
The food was great and the service was outstanding.
Rox City was a pretty place to sit and wait forever to be served our drinks. A martini was the only tasty thing we were served all night. Even though the waitress claimed they use local beef and they have great steaks I have to beg to differ. Steak shouldn’t be served grey. Just saying. We will not be back.
Went to eat with my family for Mother’s Day. We enjoyed the appetizers of poke and lumpia. For dinner we had the 20oz steak, the Chilean sea bass, and the maple pork medallion . All three meals had great flavor. The service was excellent, our server took care of all our needs and allowed for ample space to enjoy our conversation at the table. We will go back again with family visits from out of town.
Very slow service. Took 3 hours to complete dinner
Food came out dry
Overall experience was very disappointing
Rox City Grill makes one of the best filet mignon I have ever had. My friend had a chicken dish and she said it was the best chicken dish she ever had. It is on the pricey side but well worth it for the atmosphere and the food.
The food Entree was tiny small in portion size and the price was very large for what you are getting. The taste was ok . No sure what the sides where because all mashed together
There are not enough superlatives to describe the meal we had here! Every bite was perfectly prepared and gorgeously plated. Timing between courses was perfectly paced. An exquisite special occasion restaurant.
Food was excellent as well as service
We had a great time. The food was great and the service was excellent.
Always a great time at the Rox!
Great food and service and the Hotel Baker is very special. Save room for dessert— the donut dessert is awesome
Delicious food and excellent service. We really enjoyed the evening.
Food and service were excellent as usual. Since we were there on a Thursday night, it was quieter. It is much louder on Fridays and Saturdays when they have live music performing in the bar and a lot of people are using the lounge. Currently updating the menu so there will be changes and new things offered soon. The steaks are always excellent and their yukon gold mashed potatoes are wonderful. Not a broad menu but they do everything there well.
Good food, good service. Went early so there was no rush by staff and had leisurely dinner.
We had many things on the menu. The sea Bass was the best non-salmon fish dish I have ever had..outstanding. wine wasnt overpriced. Mixed drinks original and good. Early sitting was extremely relaxing.
We stayed at the Baker Hotel and took in a show at the Arcada. Both the Baker Hotel stay and the Arcada were excellent experiences. Prior to the show at the Arcada, we stopped in the Rox City Grill lounge for drinks. The service and value were outstanding. The ambiance was intimate and pleasant. The bartender was very friendly, provided excellent recommendations, and made outstanding drinks. After drinks, we returned for dinner in the Rox City Grill dining room. The food was out of this world, especially the steak. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and on a par with the finest steak houses in the country. The service was outstanding. The ambiance again was intimate and comfortable. We commented at the time that it is an atmosphere that is missing at many dining establishments. The Rox City Grill gets it right when it comes to a fine dining experience. Do not miss these jewels (Baker Hotel, Rox City Lounge and Grill, Arcada Theater and Speakeasy) when in the St. Charles area.
The food is excellent, a little pricey, but good. The martini's are the best!
Our first time and it was great. Really good food, Good atmosphere, the waiter Jacob was funny and personable. A little pricey, but worth it for a special evening.
St Charles is an hour drive from us...and dinner was worth it. There were 5 of us and we all totally enjoyed the dinner and the service. Valentines day is not typically the best night to go out...but is was our 15th wedding anniversary and Rox did not disappoint. We are looking forward to returning...and....don't miss the dairy free donuts!
Noise high. Not all the fault of restaurant. Guy behind me was a foghorn laugher. Hard to like that. Food fine and waiter was attentive and accommodating. Parking is always an issue in city center but not that bad. Sea bass good. Need to like spicy
Wife had lobster bisque and loved it. Neat Caesar salad with pickled tomato added. Good.
My wife and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Rox City Grill. Service was a little slow and a somewhat noisy crowd in the bar/music area blocked access to the dining area. Our meal was really good, however, and we look forward to a return trip -perhaps on a weeknight when it might be less crowded and noisy.
Clearly a local place and vibe...and not in a good way. Too loud during a nice dinner with live piano music blaring and people cramped and hovering around our table as we were trying to eat. We also waited 15 minutes to be greeted after being seated. Server was not attentive, joking with other tables and never checking back to see what we needed in a timely manner. Didn’t have silverwear when our food came, coke was flat and served never checked back, and then after telling him we had a show to get to, he was socializing upfront instead of running our bill. I had to get up, walk across the restaurant and interrupt his conversation with the hostess to hand him the bill. Food was great, but due to the ambiance being scattered and the service being subpar, we won’t be back. Really pretty hotel, but dressed down, casual crowd on a Saturday.
