Monk fish was dry then expected .
Tiger prawns were small and well done .
Burger was also week done
Lovely dining room with views over the canal.
Staff were very attentive and clearly proud of the menu.
Excellent service and delicious food. We will definitely be back.
Great visit, and wonderful staff. Enjoyed the pre concert meal.
Très bonne viande par contre service très très lent alors que nous étions en semaine avec pas grand monde dans le restaurant
Vue sur le canal et belle terrasse ++
Cannot fault the food, the ambience or the staff. My only niggle was how long it took to get served initially, about 15 minutes. Once served though, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The score of 4 merely reflects how long we had to wait initially otherwise the score would have been a 5.
I booked Rotunda for my husband’s birthday and it was to be our first outside dining experience in April. We were shown to our table which had a prime position right at the front of the terrace overlooking Regents Canal. All very civilised, except unfortunately the entire terrace was in the shade and the wind coming off the canal made our dinner cold in approximately 3 minutes! Obviously, this has nothing to do with the restaurant and we had a delicious burger - possibly one of the finest we’ve ever had - washed down with a delightful bottle of Argentina Malbec. The service was discrete but efficient and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant for outside dining in late Spring or Summer when the sun has moved round to cover the terrace.
Outside Freezing cold on the wind on a sunny day
Always in the shade not enough heaters
Not prepared for coming out of lockdown, a shame as I feel it could have been far more organised they had long enough
Will I go back ? I work too hard for my money to have another disappointing experience, will see.
Very Friendly service
We have had many great meals at Rotunda, but it has gone up a notch. The layout and a lot of the staff have changed and the place has a much cooler and friendlier atmosphere. The food is still excellent.
Loved it. Thanks to Jason’s team for making the 4 birthday girls day really awesome 👏🏼
Sorry, I don't do this and I find it annoying to be forced to type so much to say so.
Chocka onora was spot on, couldn’t ask for more. Thank you
We were seated next to the canal and ordered the roast + salted caramel puds. Everything was delicious!
Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.
Great place for Sunday roast and excellent outdoor seating
Beautiful location, delicious food, friendly waiters. Will definitely be back.
We had lunch as lockdown was easing. It was wonderful to be getting out and Rotunda is such a scenic location. Our reception was fine – neither overly welcoming, nor cold. We were seated at a rather wobbly booth, facing the kitchen. the menu is currently available via a QR code, which we used. Later on I saw other patrons were handed paper menus – I'm not sure why we weren't offered the option, it would have been a thoughtful touch as we only had one phone between 2 of us. We had the ceviche starter which was tasty and fresh, and the buttermilk chicken wings which were a bit too "batter-ey" for us. My son had the brunch option, which was quite good - it's a large plate of food for anyone who's hungry. It arrived without its eggs, but the server was responsive in sorting that out. I had the catch of the day, which was lovely and fresh but not unique or special. I enjoyed a lovely coffee at the end of the meal, while my son tucked into the Eton Mess. Overall I would rate the location and design highly, but the food was a little lacklustre for the price (remember you're eating on a bare table, with your utensils wrapped in a linen napkin) and staff could have been a little warmer in their interactions. We're all finding our way in this "new" normal – it just needs a spark of warmth or humour.
Food was disappointing and overpriced. The chicken liver parfait didn’t taste good at all and was slightly green in colour. The main course of fish was ok. The lunch was spoiled by some very loud diners and the overall vibe was ‘bottomless brunch’. It really didn’t live up to the reviews on here on any level. The staff were friendly and polite.
Overall an OK experience - I wouldn’t go back here but food was fine. I ordered the artichoke veggie roast dinner and not until my food came out did the manager come over and apologize that they had forgotten to tell me they were out of artichokes but had substituted with zucchini rolls wrapped in quinoa. I would have been ok with this but they had no taste. My family ordered the burger, chicken roast and pork roast — we all agreed it was just fine but wouldn’t come back.
The ambience was interesting - definitely a restaurant meant for those working in the Kings Place building - a weird dining experience otherwise when there are many other better restaurants along the canal.
Very enjoyable early dinner at Rotunda. Food fresh and delicious. Warm welcome from front of house which continued with our waiter. Quite a find. Looking forward to returning soon.
Service was superb and friendly. It was very quiet though on a Monday lunchtime, I think it's probably busier in the evenings as there's a theatre in the building.
I had the Steak and Ale pie which was nice, but certainly didn't have enough steak in it for the price (£16 I think).
The sides of Spiced Sweet Potato Mash, and glazed carrots were delicious.
Good Sunday lunch. One dodgy starter but taken off bill by attentive M d'
We have been here a few times. The first time was our best....but over time the quality of the food has fallen. This time was shocking....our last.
An excellent evening in every way lovely venue, great food and friendly professional staff. We will definitely be returning!
Good location and good food made this venue a great place for an informal meeting over lunch
Delicious food and great service
Excellent unpretentious food and good service. Great atmosphere both outside and inside. Nice music.
Fabulous location by the canal, very peaceful with great service
Oh dear. So much promise with beautiful views of canal and good nibbles. Slow service with drinks made up for by very earnest and polite Waitress. But then the prawns were undercooked. We were offered free dessert but it never arrived! Final nail in the coffin was the truly horrific live music that kicked in - couldn’t get out of there quick enough. A real shame because rest of food was good and had so much potential.
Nice restaurant. Service staff was fun and knowledgable
It is a shame that this restaurant fails to deliver an enjoyable dinner experience. The service is friendly and efficient enough and clearly they care about the food's quality and provenance. It's a disappointment, therefore, that they fail to make those ingredients sing. The excellent St John's sourdough was stale, probably fresh on Friday, but not great for £2.50 on a Saturday night. The rib-eye steak was juicy and tender, but for £28, we could have done with not being charged another £2.00 for a small pot of sauce and £4.00 for a portion of under-cooked fries. Folk would say I should have called them out at the time but the problem with that is that life is too short and it spoils the flow of the evening. Not good enough.
There are very few restaurants which have exceptional quality of food as good as Rotunda. The service is exceptional and you feel like a prince eating here. We have been attending for 6 years and have always left feeling like we have been fed and treated like royalty.
The restaurant was pretty empty and the service was really poor. We had to ask to place our order.
We have often eaten at the Rotunda before a concert. On this latest occasion the waitress was pleasant and did her best but was handicapped with limited English which led to confusion over the menu. Two of us were served with a lamb dish which was not on the menu we had been provided with and which we would have thought the supervisor or the kitchen might have realised was an issue. When we raised the problem we were given extra vegetables and an extra glass wine and not charged for a beer. We appreciated this gesture but were disappointed with the dish we were served with and did not get the one we had wanted.
it seemed they were short staffed. Despite their best efforts we waiting long to place orders. They messed up a few of our drinks order (where by they would bring two of the same drinks order) and then promised to take it off the bill which they did not. it was my friends birthday and were sweet to bring a cake out for her on the house. The food was okay. I had eggs royal. The salmon was the cheap stuff - which was hugely disapointing. the Birthday girl had a steak and egg which was fine.
Nice location and the food is nice, but too expensive for what it is.
Rotunda Restaurant is a great location for a long, lazy late midweek lunch. Wonderful setting, good table d’hôte menu as well as the a la carte. Service was very good.
Sat out by the canal on a summery evening celebrating my engagement - Rotunda was ideal. Food delicious (we had mains and desserts.) It was super busy and as we had to wait for mains the waiter kindly gave us a drink on the house. Love this venue.
Loud bar music made conversation in the restaurant uncomfortable. Service very slow. The waitress serving the wine clearly knew nothing about wine; could hardly open a bottle. Overcharged by 66% for the wine. Food, however, excellent, as always.
