Very romantic and private spot with incredible food. The waiter was so friendly and accommodating and I had a beautiful date here. Highly recommend!
A well kept secret in Washington Square West. Food and service is outstanding. Plenty of room to spread out while being well cared for by a professional staff. The food is fresh and delicious. The restaurant is a bit of a throwback in time. Enjoy, I did.
I'm sure this place was hopping before COVID-19 since its right around the corner from the hospital. Very quite for a Saturday night. 3 tables. We're 50-60 and they had an easy 20 years on us. Service and food were good. Nothing OMG out of this world but a nice meal. The bar didn't have bloody mary mix, but not the end of the world.
Glad we tried it and it was a good quiet meal. I won't drive an hour again though.
All in all, good for mature couple date night.
We have been regulars for la buca for many years and have found the food always to be consistently good however my particular entree last Saturday night was veal la buca and it was slightly overcooked the edges of the veal were burnt. The server was very gracious and took it off the check. This was probably a one-time fluke
Love this place always consistently great food and service. Fresh seafood and excellent pastas. The lobster franchise was succulent and delicious Scallops outstanding and the butternut squash ravioli delicate and flavorful. Large and affordable wine list. Must have desert is the limoncello cake.
Another wonderful dining experience at La Buca. An outstanding staff.
The mussels were some of the best I have ever had. The house Chardonnay paired well with the Scampi which was one of the best I’ve had. The staff are friendly and helpful!! We will be back.
As always, food was so good. Kitchen (Anthony) was very accommodating making some of our favorites not on the menu. Fish is always fresh and delicious. I always get the Dover sole or the langoustinos which I love but decided to try the pompano this time. I was not disappointed!
We ate outside with one server for 6 tables, upstairs from the restaurant. I suspect that the kitchen was the problem but it too forever to get our food.
Some of the food was good, although the bronzino entree was tasteless - dried out and very little seasoning. Lamb chops were good.
Service was ok and attentive (server Kathy was very friendly), but spoke quickly and rushed away a couple times before we were finished speaking or asking questions.
We like to try the flashy new restaurants in Philly (at least before Covid), but we always return to La Buca. In over 15 years going there a couple of times a month, we've never had a bad meal or bad service. It is amazingly consistent. The food is always perfectly cooked and the seafood is fresh and some of the best in the city. Everyone's meal always arrives hot (my pet peeve is lukewarm food). Service is very professional. We have eaten outside during Covid and it's been quite pleasant.
As always fresh seafood is a stand out here. Enjoyed the scallops and the grilled langustinos. Classic ceasar salad Service was great and they took all the COVID 19 precautions. Will be back.
The food was fantastic. I had the fettuccine alfredo and it was by far the best I’ve ever had. Friends got the chicken parmesan and it was amazing and so was the gnocchi. Wine choices were decent and good value, the wait staff was attentive and entertaining.
All in all, amazing.
We returned to an old favorite after a hiatus, to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and were reminded of why we had liked La Buca so much. The hostess was gracious about fluctuations in the number of our largish party. Our waiter, Michael, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding, with seared scallops and pasta fra diavolo as standouts. Perfect spot for a family gathering. We really felt at home. We won't wait so long to return!
We frequently dine here before the theater as it one of our favorites. The food was outstanding as usual however the service was lacking. We sat down at 6:30 and didn’t receive our entrees unit 7:35. This left us little to no time to enjoy our meal.
Always excellent- entrees and specials were delicious and nicely presented
Great ambiance, subdued and congenial. Waiters excellent; barman very knowledgeable. Large menu.
Very good food, efficient service, and reasonably priced wine by the bottle. Although it was a fairly busy night, we were still able to have a conversation, a rare occurrence in a Philadelphia restaurant. We shared a Sauteed Radicchio, Shiitake, & Bacon Salad, followed by the Seafood Livornese and the Vitello Fiorentina. We skipped dessert and finished with excellent coffee.
This was my third visit. One of my favorite restaurants in Philly! The food , the service and ambiance everything was wonderful! I will be back.
First time and can’t wait to go back. Service was great and food was fabulousl
Great food, amazing atmosphere, exceptional service!
Went to this Italian restaurant for Valentine’s Day, and had been there before. It’s one of the few places in town where the pasta actually tastes homemade (not sure if it is). They had 2 pasta specials for V-day, one spicy gnocchi with shrimp and vegetable ravioli, and my husband and I ordered them. They were very good and filling, yet the portions are just the right size so you don’t overdo it (a bad habit of mine when it comes to pasta!).
The homemade desserts they bring to the table are perfect for sharing. Again, nice portion sizes for the price but not so overwhelming that you ruin your diet.
They have an Italian beer my husband likes and the weekend bartender makes a really good appletini. We’ll be back for sure.
The server was great. The food was okay. They however did not have our open table reservation. Luckily the restaurant was not packed.
Great food, good ambiance, very slow and incomplete service.
We love it here
The. Menu is Varied
The service well done
We all enjoyed our meel
Can't speak highly enough about La Buca! Fresh, delicious food, professional wait staff, and an excellent dining experience. Can't wait to go back!
Ristorante la Buca was stumbled upon via internet while looking for a Valentine’s Day date. Having no familiarity, but seeing great reviews, we reserved a table. It was also highly recommended and touted as having history in Philly, and the Dover Sole was highly regarded.
The dinner was fantastic, Javier (our server) took wonderful care of my fiancé and I. The oysters were fresh, the mozzarella, tomato and bell peppers were great. For our mains we got Dover Sole and spinach gnocchi. Wonderfully prepared, wonderfully served, wonderfully consumed.
Thank you, Buca for the great night!
We really enjoyed it ... and I think it was a good value. My server was terrific ... really a good guy.
Wonderful as usual. Old world service with fresh seafood and homemade pasta.
It was great! Waiter was super awesome, friendly, knowledgeable, funny, very outgoing! Food was delicious and cooked perfectly. Veal was thin and tender. We were celebrating a birthday and a 40 year anniversary. We came to Ristorante la Buca because we went on dates there before we married.
Always a fine experience and totally worth the time to visit.
Food was great. Alfredo our waiter was terrific. Enjoyed ourselves
La Buca represents one of the few classics Italian Restaurants that remain. Classic in the sense that you can order pasta dished with the past appropriately cooked with delicious sauces. The is also veal scallopine in its various iterations:marsala, piccata, parmigiana, etc. The ingredients are of high quality and appropriately cooked. Service is attentive and friendly. The one list is heavily Italian and red. There are few white wine choices. Those looking for "novelle cuisine" should look elsewhere.
Ristorante La Buca has been in business since 1978 and I have been dining there since 1981. It is always excellent!
Good and service is simply great. It’s quite on a rainy night good for nerves.
Always a pleasant dining experience. We are continually treated with respect as valued customers. Alfredo provides an evening of dining pleasure with his high level of professionalism.
This restaurant is beautiful and very romantic, although certainly appropriate for business dining as well. Lovely murals by artisans adorn the walls, service is attentive, and we have never had a disappointing meal here. Most enjoyable!
My wife and I recently had dinner at the restaurant before a show at the Walnut Street Theatre. The meal and dessert were very good. Compared to similar restaurants in Philadelphia, the cost was reasonable. The service was excellent. We will return to the restaurant for dinner in the future.
It was good. Nothing special
Great place to relax and have a great meal along with great service. The “quiet “ is very nice.
