Drinks are AMAZING!!!
Great place to dine for business!
The food was great but it took an hour for our entree to arrive. We saw everyone around us who arrived after us be served. We asked a few times and were told ours was next but it still was another fifteen minutes. Maybe they have no expediting system? Either way, it took away from the night. And the valet is $12.
I’ve been here a couple of times. Every dish is delicious, but the branzino — mmmmm to die for. The craft cocktails - just keep them coming!! Wait staff is gracious and accommodating.
The food is good. The drinks are well made and curated. I would enjoy small plates and craft cocktails
Cute atmosphere, nice service, good food. Cool to try if in area.
The service was exceptional. Food was very good even though they were out of our first choice after we ordered it; but the replacement was real good. Will come back.
The food and ambiance is fabulous.
Great food great drinks just too pricey for what it is.
Food, value, ambiance...all worth it and I’ll be back. CoqAu Vin was amazing!!
Food was good, way overpriced , drinks ridiculously overpriced , server was meh. Looks like a run down cafe.
I loved it. The food was amazing, great drinks and a fantastic space overall.
Service and food was the best
I can’t remember the last time I thoroughly enjoyed my food when trying a new restaurant, but my husband, children, and I loved the food here.
Cocktails were a disappointment. Sugar and ice basically.
I had mentioned in my reservation that we are celebrating a birthday. Neither the host that seated us nor the server took a note of that. I had to literally ask for their birthday desert when I saw they brought it over for the table next to us after their birthday cake.
The server said I’ll bring you something and brought the dessert when I was about to leave, after we paid the bill and everything. Too late and out of obligation. Not what I was expecting
Food is absolutely delicious! And Matthew, our server, made our date-night more enjoyable.
Food and cocktails were all unique. If you think you have had something similar, you must try theirs first! I am not a salad person, but I would return for two of their salads (brussel sprouts one and a grilled peach one). Fresh, fresh, fresh ingredients. It is clear they take a lot of pride in what they do. Cannot wait to return (and I hear their brunch is phenom too).
Outstanding friendly and efficient service! Tasty and creative food! Well done!
It was great
Very nice neighborhood gem, super friendly staff and the food was delicious and by far better than I was expecting.
We had brunch here a while back and have been looking forward to dinner. There's a wide variety of very interesting items on the menu and we had high expectations for our visit. Our expectations were in fact exceeded. The food is both gorgeous to look at as well as great to eat.
There are many very fine restaurants in L.A. theses days. Blackssmiths is currently at the top of our favorites list.
Great experience and amazing food. Definitely going back.
Great brunch food! Music was a little too loud for my taste
Amazing food after learning about the black cat and red Mac special on Instagram. It was amazing!!
Amazing Please we will definitely come back to this place the food was phenomenal it ended up being six of us they accommodated us with no problem the music choice is fantastic the food was out of this world we can’t wait to come back we already making plans for the next visit
Amazing! Definitely the best restaurant in DTLA!
Penicillin drink was good & strong. We had reservations at 5 pm as soon as it opened and we’re seated promptly.
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu/drinks. Pork belly sushi appetizer was delicious, melt in your mouth. Cat and Mac, Cajun style catfish and Mac n cheese was seasoned perfectly. I had the the blacksmith, which is the squid ink pasta. I expected more flavor, but realized it’s just tossed in evoo with crab meat and garlic.
Overall it was good, but I probably would not order again because of that. Definitely would go back & try other items on the menu.
The building it’s in is fantastic as well. An old apartment, I believe. The area is near skid row and the art district. Lots of beautiful buildings in the area. Lots of culture, things and people to see!
We love this place!
Great food and great hip hop music playing . Beautiful place and service
Not bad, not great. It's just another DTLA restaurant that looks like every other DTLA restaurant with avocado toast and bottomless mimosas. Zzzzzzz. Sadly, I had to ask for hot sauce to give my avocado toast some flavor. No fresh pepper, salt or garlic. Basically guacamole on some very delicious bread. The bread was incredible! Worth the price? Not when you can't sit on the patio due to the screaming homeless down the street. DTLA is breaking my heart.
Drinks were wonderful - the Never Say Die was our favorite. I got the crab Benedict which was out of this world. My boyfriend got the chicken chilaquiles which he also really enjoyed. We sat on the porch which was quiet and a great ambiance.
We usually love Blacksmiths, but to be honest, we didn't have a very good experience this time. Our server was continually giving us short one-word answers and had little to no answers when asked about food. We were ignored the majority of the night continuously, our appetizer came out last, and to be honest for the first time the food didn't meet that usual Blacksmith standard. It was disappointing; hopefully, it was just an off night. If it weren't for our other positive experiences at Blacksmith, We'd probably not got back.
We arrived early for our reservation, and they easily accommodated us. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and it was clean and inviting. Music was loud, but doable. Will definitely come here for another special occasion!
Our first time at Blacksmiths, we were pleasantly surprised on how delicious the food was!!! We ordered crab cakes, which were perfectly cooked. Also ordered the grilled peach salad. Great balance of flavors! Finally we had the black truffled saffron fettuccine. Yum!! Can’t wait to return!
A friend recommended Blacksmiths, this was our first time dining here. Arrived early enough for happy hour and sat at the Bar...loved the handmade cocktails! The bartender and our server were very friendly, informative about the restaurant and offered great suggestions from the menu. The ambience was nice, it was a Tuesday night so not very busy or too loud. The Brussel salad was amazing and the freshly made gnocchi with braised short rib was delicious! The bartender let us sample his house-made pineapple/rocotto gomme that he blends into his OaxaCalifornia cocktail...surprisingly good! It could also be drizzled over vanilla bean ice cream for a fabulous dessert! Would definitely come back.
The food was so good. I cant wait to come back and try more dishes.
The food and service was excellent!!
Going in, I did not know what I was getting into; the area is in a remote area, and seems rather off the beaten path. However, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the mid-century architecture amid the high-rise buildings. Servings are huge, and the taste is full of flavor. If you don't mind traveling in this neck of the woods, I would tell you to give it a try!
This was my second time here and it was great. Food and service was amazing. The only complaint I would have is the music could have been turned down a notch even though it was great music it was a bit loud. I will be back with friends. Loved it!
We have been here three times. The food is exquisite as are the drinks. Brunch and Dinner menu both have been amazing for us. The restaurant is beautiful as well and staff is friendly. They remembered us from the last few times, we've been.
