Experience Stalactites, one of Melbourne's longest established & well known Greek restaurants. Owned and operated by the same Greek family since 1978, Stalactites has long become a Melbourne institution.

Open from 11am-late 7 days a week, Stalactites offers a Greek feast of home made dips, tasty giro souvlaki and chargrilled meats and authentic home made dishes from southern Greece.

    The food was great we all enjoyed our meal the only down fall was the service. We were upstairs and were the only table up there the waitress failed to bring our dips and bread before meal so everything came out at once. We also ordered a second round of drinks which she forgot to bring so we cancelled them as we were finished our meals. The food was good and we will come back again hopefully the service will be better.

    Almost was so good, I think that there a nicest way to say you will need the table. The guy was shouting loudly to the great staff and customers as well

    Friendly & welcoming place. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. And they catered really well for gluten free options. Staff were friendly but really busy so occasionally it was hard to get their attention. It was obviously a very popular place as it was very busy, so it was starting to get quite noisy. It wouldn’t do well for people with hearing loss, I was finding it hard & had to watch my friends mouths to keep track of conversations and I am not deaf!

    Iv been eating at stalyictytes for more than 30 years I live in Ballarat and still catch the train down to Melbourne for a souva simply the best like a fine bottle of wine it just gets better with age

    very busy restaurant. Took a while to get our order taken but then the food arrived reasonably quickly and the food was awesome. We were a group of 7 and all had the banquet. It's a huge amount of food but they allowed us to take the leftovers home.

    While the food and venue were great, the service was not. We were left waiting for waiters to tend to us for extended periods and did not receive a part of our food for a very long time. We often needed to go to the front desk to request assistance and our attempts at trying to receive assistance from where we were was avoided.

    The food was delicious and very authentic Greek flavours. The service was attentive and although it was busy it felt very calm and orderly. We were not rushed over our meal. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

    The food was amazing I just felt cramped whilst sitting by the table eating my food the tables need to be a little more apart. Staff were friendly the only thing a few need to consider their personal hygiene.

    Stalactites is an institution in Melbourne and should be on any meat-eaters list of places to dine. The food is outstanding and worth the wait. The service is ok, but can be overlooked in light of the delicious food and the volumes of customers thronging the restaurant. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Melbourne.

    The food was excellent. We were a large group and the questions we asked prior to arrival were answered promptly. The staff were not friendly and the rudeness from the person at the front at the end of the night negatively impacted the experience. A real shame because the food was a stand-up.

    The male Manager was fantastic. He seated us quickly and even adjusted tables to provide more space for us without us asking. He intermittently asked if everything was OK and we felt looked after by him. However, there was one waitress who was disengaged, in a world of her own and when asked to order or if we could have serving tongs, it seemed a chore for her. This was the only downside to our experience. We will be back! Thank you

    Very rude greeting upon entering - told to wait outside despite having a booking. No assistance given to mount stairs with 3 prams and associated babies etc. Put on a table in the way of everyone and treated like a nuisance despite having booked for 11 people way in advance. One dish was also cold in the middle and had to be returned to be reheated. Won't be returning despite the rest of the food being nice.

    Food was excellent. However when we arrived we got our table and then we’re forgotten about. Took 45 mins to get someone to take out drinks and food order and then our drinks sat on the bar for 30 mins before we went up and got them ourselves because no one was going to bring them over.

    I was disappointed with my experience for my birthday dinner. The staff were so busy that they services you like they were serving line. It took almost 20 minutes from being seated to get a menu and that's because we asked. Then another 30 minutes to get someone's attention to even order and another 30 minutes for the food to come. The food itself wasn't spectacular, it was extremely noisy and cramped. Overall a very under whelming experience and there was little character or ambience to make this a place one where I would return to. If I could would choose a different place entirely.

    it was a work lunch so pre-ordered our meals. Didn't really help as they did not start the order till we had been there 5-10 mins then came to confirm what we had ordered. The meals were lovely except for one in our party that ordered the bean soup, which came out a little after the rest of ours and was not very warm. She did not send it back as it would have taken too long to get it back again.
