Balbir’s is the first and possibly the only Indian restaurant in Scotland to have obtained both the ‘Healthy Living’ award and the ‘Eat Safe’ food certificate from the UK governments Food Standards agency.
Great restaurant with good food. Friends and I meet there several times a year when I come down to visit from Moray. We had set menu B between 4 of us. Good range of meats and flavours and more than enough for all!
You will struggle to find a more complete package than Balbirs. The food is excellent, the staff are friendly and courteous. The location of the restaurant and the booking system are all very convenient.
We opted for the vegetarian options this time around and although we are not vegetarian, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to our next mean at Balbirs!
we had not been to Balbir's for a while but decided to celebrate our anniversary there. We were seated in what looked like an overflow room away from other dining guests. The food was not great which was a great disappointment especially for the price we were being charged, will not return or recommend. it is such a pity because I remember on my first visit being treated like royalty having my chair pulled out napkin placed on my knee all the special touches have gone !!!! take the bill and not even see you out of the door
Delicious food and excellent ambience.
Superb meal and very attentive staff. Would definitely recommend.
We have dined here 3 times previously .We asked for chicken tikka and swap the potatoes for rice. We were told if we did this would need to pay for rice as no replacements allowed. This was odd as the last 3 times we had rice between us. I thought this was not flexible at all. After our main meal no one approached us for dessert/drinks/coffee/bill. We had to wait until we asked a considerable time later. I hope this was a one off as usually we have a great experience so a bit disappointing
Had a great meal in Balbirs with friends. The waiter was spot on with his recommendation when we couldn’t find a specific curry on the menu. Loved the chicken 65!
Visited Balbirs on a special celebration. The whole visit was a delight. Well informed service, excellent food chosen on recommendation and a friendly hello from Balbir. My guests were delighted. Well done.
Great food and service that’s friendly and efficient but doesn't encroach on your privacy.
Food and service were excellent but prices slightly higher than expected
Lovely experience as always...great food, great service, what's not to like? :)
This restaurant stands out in terms of the food it serves. innovative, well presented and extremely tasty!
Service is excellent from well trained attentive staff.
Fantastic food and service-love the salmon tandoori -pleasant unfussy service and no long waits
I’m always impressed. Fantastic customer service and exceptional food. I’m also of the opinion that the staff get the tips, unlike other high profile establishments.
Outstanding as always. Amazing food and wine, tremendous value for money. Brilliant, personal service. Always go that extra mile, so clean. So accommodating to my 91 year old Gran. Go if you get the chance. Thanks Balbirs 🙌🏼👏🏼🥂🇮🇳
We used to go to Balbirs regularly and thoroughly enjoyed it and it was good value for money. Since changing the restaurant layout things changed, food was still good albeit things we ordered had been remved from the menu, and have now reappeared at a considerably higher price for what looks like the same amount! Not worth the huge cost increases, they’re are good alternative Indian restaurants that serve great food and don’t break the bank!!!
Very enjoyable. Nice relaxing atmosphere on a weekday in nice environs. Staff friendly and attentive. Food was delicious - especially the monkfish. Would come back again.
Another great meal at Balbir's. The food was, as usual, very good, although all three of us felt that the legendary "Chicken 65" starter was not quite as tempting as it used to be - the coating seemed different both in texture and taste. However, everything else was excellent.
The service was a little unattentive, often requiring multiple attempts to catch someone's eye, but, once "caught", all staff were very helpful.
Overall, a good experience and one we shall repeat again (and again).
Food is delicious and comes out relatively quickly. Staff are so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and cuisine.
Best Indian Restaurant I have ever visited, service, food was absolutely superb. We went for the banquet and was recommended to our rates. Fantastic
First visit to Balbirs certainly wont be our last. The quality of food was excellent . Starters of veg pakora and spicy chicken recommended by the waiter were delightful. Both curries one chicken the other lamb were excellent. The lamb was beautifully tender. All portion sizes were good as was the rice and nan. All the staff were very friendly and provided great service. We were an early evening booking and seated in the front of restaurant, hopefully next time we may get into the rear as it looks much nicer.
Hope to return soon to try out some more dishes.
As ever great meal and excellent service. Not to be missed
Great food and will defo go back. Very relaxed and great service
Great food as always!
Great experience as always
Felt staff wanted to leave as soon after ten as possible, not good.
Food - starters outstanding, main courses inconsistent but dealt with a variety of preferences.
Cost v value , just about ok.
Great food from an enthusiastic team who made us feel very welcome despite us turning up with more people than we booked for
Excellent choice for my Birthday meal. The food is superb and some new additions to the menu. The service is fantastic and value for money.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Menu has great variety. Food is freshly cooked and very tasty.
Wonderful food , great service but unfortunately we were in the overflow part of the restaurant not the main area that we expected to be in . The atmosphere, in what use to be the tapas area , is practically non existent .
Delicious food and surroundings with friendly and helpful staff.
Our bellies are always looking forward to Balbirs.
Yet another fabulous meal at Balbir’s! Excellent food, attentive service and a relaxing ambiance. The Rogan Josh is to die for. 10/10
Lovely food and attentive staff. Good value for money.
Great quality food, and service. Authentic indian cuisine, very delicious. The presentation was lovely and the jug for the gol gappa juice was fantastic! Wanted one to take home, Would definitely recommend!
First visit in years. Service good food fresh & lovely flavours with Good chilli heat. Will definitely be back & highly recommend for small or large groups 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Another fantastic meal. We had one of the set menus which we really enjoy as it gives us a chance to try dishes we normally wouldn’t order.
The only drawback was that our table was at the front of the restaurant and I prefer being in the main restaurant but this just a personal preference. Food and service were still fantastic as always!
I have been to Balbirs countless times over the years. Whilst I would recommend it to a friend I have to say that I would only do so because the food is quite nice so I would suggest trying it out.
However, the service recently seems to have become less attentive. In previous years we were never left without a drink and had a bit of time between courses to breathe. Now, drink orders are forgotten and as soon as you finish one course the other is in front of you straight away. This may sound good but it seems like more of an attempt to get the table cleared so they can process as many customers as possible. I have to question how fresh everything is given that it can be brought to the table straight away. On my recent visit we were seated, fed and out the door in just over 30 minutes.
Then there is the price. Given the choice of similar restaurants the pricing in balbirs seems really steep.
Overall it is ok... I think they’ve started to lose the attention to detail that made balbirs appealing in the first place. With more restaurants, offering similar and better food, available as time goes on it is becoming difficult to justify picking Balbirs over other places. Which is a shame.
WE came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and booked our table in a quiet corner. We had a lovely meal and spoke with Balbir himself who then introduced his son Nikki and were both very welcoming. Our server was very mannerly and brought our wine in a chiller to the table. We had pappadums and spiced onions to start followed by a nice selection of mixed pakoras then for our mains we had chicken chasni and lamb bhoona ginger accompanied by basmati rice rice and naan bread. The flavour was spot on and everything all cooked to perfection. Nikki explained the spices used and offered us to speak with the chef but we declined . After a short respite we finished with coffees and our bill was brought to the table although not cheap it was still reasonably priced. WE would recommend Balbir's and hope to return soon.
Lovely meal and very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend Balbirs
Top notch as always! Food delicious.
Hadn’t been to Balbirs for years and wasn’t disappointed.
