Girl & the Goat
Located at 809 W Randolph, Girl & the Goat was one of the first establishments in the Randolph Restaurant Corridor. We offer a variety of seating choices, including a comfortable lounge, bar seats, standard table seating, and four seats close enough to the kitchen line that you might be asked to help. Girl & the Goat accepts reservations but always welcomes walk-ins, nomads, adventurers, and those of you who don’t like to plan.
What Insiders Are Saying
One of the most well known restaurants in Chicago, and one that lives up to the hype.
This was my third time at Girl & the Goat. All visits have been fantastic, but this one topped the rest. The cocktails were creative, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is perfect. This is a must visit for anybody in Chicago, whether a local or a visitor.
All of the dishes we tried were delicious and unique. The service was wonderful. The restaurant is fun, vibrant, and not at all pretentious. You'd be comfortable dressed up or in jeans. Absolutely recommend.
Food was incredible, portions are very small so you have to order a decent amount to be satisfied. There was some miscommunication from our server which caused a little confusion but she was very good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
My favorite restaurant in Chicago. When I book flights to chicago I try to book dinner at girl and the goat at the same time. Everything is great here including the service.
Food was incredible! Service wasn’t great. Will still come here again.
Great experience at girl and the goat! Gluten free selection was fantastic!
Fantastic experience from start to finish. Amazing food and service
We ate outside on the patio and it was amazing. Chris was an excellent server and helped us navigate the menu. Great experience.
Too loud!!! Too small table that were too close. Food not as interesting or tasty as I was expecting.
Was really looking forward to eating here...noise level was so loud was impossible to have any sort of conversation without screaming. Most of our dishes were so oily and greasy. Goat Empanadas lacked taste and were so over soaked with oil. Prices were modest but food was lacking
Everything we ordered was amazing. As usual. My favorite spot.
The restaurant is very nice for special occasions and date. Food including dessert was so tasty and outstanding. Also each food was served on time and they recommended the number of dishes. The quality of service was very good too.
The ambiance of the restaurant is very high-energy and we probably should have mentioned it was an anniversary in the reservation - our table was less than a foot from our neighbours on either side and there was a much more private 2-person table behind us which I don't think ended up being used. The server was attentive and friendly but seemed slightly put out when there was any uneaten food (we over-ordered to try more things). We had several delicious small dishes. Each of the dishes was amazing on its own - nothing could be called boring, each dish had an interesting blend of flavors, textures, and visuals - I only wished I had asked more questions to create a bit more balance in the textures and acidity levels across the dishes as a whole.
Small plates but very satisfying. It’s food you know with a twist and the twists are refreshing and tasty.
Great dining experience at one of Chicago’s finest restaurant. Great service.
Loved it! We ordered a lot of shared plates, and left feeling stuffed. It was my birthday and the perfect way to celebrate with my friends and family. And for the amount of food we got (and drinks/wine), the bill was not outrageous. Will definitely be back!
Very good food, waitress was a little rude and impatient
Omg what a fantastic experience. Enjoyed a great time with colleagues, food was outstanding, and service was top notch!!
Chef Stephanie always delivering in her restaurants - great experience & awesome food!
I’m a private chef from san antonio and in town for a some restaurant tours and my experience was amazing from the service with mike and how knowledgeable he was with the menu, the busser was on top of his game with keeping the table spotless and the 5 courses plus chef courses on the house. We started out with the house made focaccia with this amazing spread and tomatillos pico, shishito peppers with a parmesan cheese, short ribs with salted caramel and picked cucumbers, empanadas with goat and this amazing blueberry, pineapple pico, chick pea fritters, carrot hummus and , squash blossoms with crab rangoon filling, bourbon and blueberry butter cake and bourbon ice cream and malted ice cream with magic shell and caramel popcorn ! very affordable for what we had and i will come back next time i’m town for sure and i want to try chef izard’s other restaurants as well!
This was our second visit
Absolutely delicious flavors in every bite! Wonderful service too - don’t skip dessert
Amazing food. Amazing flavours!!!!
This may sound backwards, but we thought our food came out too fast. We were told to order everything at once given different preparation times. However, at one point we had all five dishes we ordered on the table at once. We enjoy eating good food and drinking good wine (which we had) but we more enjoy enjoying the meal and respecting the food (which we found hard because we felt rushed). Thank you!
The food was innovative and delicious. The service was top to bottom excellent and the room was attractive and cool. The place was packed on a rainy Monday night in August. That says a lot!
Excellent food curated by a knowledgeable and friendly server. Would definitely recommend Girl and the goat to anyone interesting in a quality dining experience.
We were in Chicago for the first time from Aug 9 through Aug 12 for my husband’birthday. Girl and the Gost was highly recommended by good friends so we we t in Sunday night on his birthday. From start to finish it was an amazing time. To begin with, they sat us at the Chef’s table. It was great to talk and see the staff do work their magic. We started with the fried duck tongue, the sweet corn pierogi and the crab rangoon in a squash blossom. Never had fried duck tongue but it was my favorite dish of the night. Amazing flavors and textures. Next we had the wood grill spicy shrimp and the crispy short ribs. These two dishes were outstanding. We had the halibut and the goat belly with lobster and crab on top. The halibut was served with a take on peanut butter and jelly. Although it sounds weird it was delicious. I don’t eat goat but had to try the goat belly and it was very tasty. Dessert was on the house and it was a nice finish to an incredible evening.
Wonderful restaurant. The food was both interesting and delicious. The waitress did a great job explaining the dishes, order of service and recommending the appropriate amount of food to order. The noise level was high but not overwhelming.
Our server was amazing!
Awesome service and all dishes were exceptional.
Amazing service and delicious food! we loved the breads so much we ordered all options! My favorite dish of the night was the pork- just wow, the green beans were amazing too! I regret not trying the duck tongue though!
The best restaurant in Chicago! The pig face is an absolute must!
Amazing experience and food is phenomenal would highly recommend if visiting Chicago
One of the best in the city.................................,,,,............
This was my first time to Girl & the Goat and I will definitely be back!! The food and service were phenomenal. There wasn't anything that we tried on the menu that wasn't delicious!
Our server, Caylee (sp?), was great! I appreciated the explanation of the menu as well as her recommendations on how many and which plates to order. The service was phenomenal—our drinks were always filled and plates were cleared and changed out promptly, but it never felt intrusive. And the food was AMAZING! The goat special that day, the braised goat neck, was my husband’s favorite, and the goat belly confit was mine, but it was all delicious, even the bread was super good! I did feel like the music was just a tad on the loud side, and with some of the tables you sit in pretty close quarters to other parties so all the surrounding conversation makes it kind of loud too, but the atmosphere was still great and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves.
What to say, just one of the best restaurants I ever been
First time visiting. Great food and experience. Customer service was fantastic!
The food was amazing, but the service -- wow. When asked about dietary restrictions, my dining companion mentioned that he tried to avoid citrus. Not that he was allergic or he'd get really ill, just that he tried to avoid it. A few minutes later, the waiter, who clearly consulted with the kitchen, came back with a menu where he'd made handwritten notes about what did and didn't contain citrus. Talk about above and beyond.
