    Our food wasn’t very hot and we had finished it before our drinks arrived. The cafe is beautifully decorated but incredibly noisy. Was fine but probably wouldn’t come back again.

    The waiter was great, although gave us breakfast menus close to lunch time. We waited almost 1.5 hrs for our food and were then told to leave in 15 minutes? It was a beautiful private room but soo hot inside. Only some parts of the room were cool. Need to fix your aircon! AND the chairs were dangerous! Multiple children fell off the chairs

    We arrived at 8am on Sunday to be told the rainbow pancakes on the kids menu was sold out. Only to find out later they weren’t sold out. Poor, slow service and food and coffee took a long time to arrive.

    The concept is brilliant though poorly executed. Either the sewage isn't coping with volume or cleaners aren't getting to the bins in the bathrooms quick enough - the smell was putrid. The kids meal didn't come until after the other meals were finished. The ordered water didn't arrive despite numerous requests until after the meal. No glasses were provided. The hostess was friendly however the waitress couldn't have cared less.

    Our visit was short lived, we drove over an hour for a 15mins experience. Very disappointed that there wasn't more to look at...so from start to finish after a light refreshment. 45min we were done. Seemed a great deal more on the website. Won't be back and will tell friends not to bother.

    Every thing was beautiful, would definitely recommend to anyone who has thought of going. So much to look at while waiting for your food. Staff were very attentive. Food was fantastic.

    Unfortunately my husband wanted to change our babies nappy to discover the only change table was in the women’s toilet. This is not very inclusive or accessible. Otherwise we love the grounds especially with little kids.

    The only complaint is that there wasn't any colouring in pencils for the children. Myself and friend bought all our grandchildren (under 4) for the Candy Lane. We ate and drank lots and they had a colouring in page given to them and you had no pencils so it wasn't as relaxing as we hoped. We come often and that is the only complaint

    The Grounds never fails to impress. It was even better to not have to battle crowds of people only attending to look at the amazing Christmas display. Having to show your food receipt to get into the display is a great thing. The only criticism I have is that the children’s meals came out last. I think it’s pretty standard that they should come out first.

    The Grounds is a great place to go with kids and the lane way installations are always great. However, the actual service leaves a lot to be desired. It was Saturday morning at 9am, they had already sold out of the kids pancakes and a few menu items, there were no colouring packs for the kids (we didn’t bring our own because it’s always provided) and staff were not great with recommendations about additions or options. I understand that not everything goes to plan, but to be so early at a time you know you will busy and to already be sold out of multiple menu options just seems very disorganised. The menu on the website is also very different to in the cafe so suggest this gets updated as well. The food is great and again the experience is always great in terms of the lane way etc. but the above is below the expectations i would have of such an established business.

    I was quite disappointed in my breakfast experience at my most recent trip to The Grounds. Service of coffee was slow and came out lukewarm, most items we tried to order were O/S on the menu even after a wait staff confirmed with the kitchen something was available before we ordered we were then told when our food was delivered that in-fact the kitchen was out of stock which was frustrating especially as were an early seating time . The new system for the alley ways was poorly executed, it should have 1 entrance and 1 exit not have you entering and exiting at the same place that is also the same place people are lining up for the cafe too.. there was no flow and it was not enjoyable. Also a lack of Christmas themed menu items this year which was disappointing.

    I have always had such wonderful experiences dining at The Grounds. This time I invited some friends to celebrate my daughters birthday instead of giving her a party. We had a booking but it still took 15 minutes to be seated, we were put in a noisy dark corner, they forgot to bring out the kids drinks (x4), one child's meal and a side. The kids menu had a colouring in page on the back but after asking for some pencils we were given a tin with 4 unsharpened pencils. Staff kept coming in and out of a barn door near our table which let in such wonderful light & air... an instant mood lifter but then they would close it again and we were back in the dark. We were unlucky perhaps but we left feeling very feeling disappointed.

    Food on the menu were good and tasty nice presentation, approachable staff in the cafe with nice ambience. There was only little disappointment on the opening sign as it says 7am on the gate then use this gate to enter but they’re still cleaning and hosing and blowing still at 7:20am. we ended up using different gate and saw others coming from other entrance. It opened at 7:25am then queue for the cafe but cafe was quickly to organised and seated the people in line.

    Everything I ordered was sold out and then I asked for no spicy and my meal turned up with spice. Plus the waitress didn't understand I was allergic to salmon and she keep saying the kitchen could do that for me.

    I love the food. It was superb. But I was disappointed with the noise level. I thought I was on a playroom. We need to finish our food immediately because I cannot tolerate the noise. On the other hand, service was excellent.

    I took my teenage kids there to enjoy the Xmas spirit and some nice food and a nice experience. We booked in advance. Unfortunately, staff were unable to be in anyway flexible with the menu, ie, removing a few ingredients from the fish tacos. My son then selected a number of sides to make up a meal, only to be told that half of his selection was no longer available. So, the options were minimal, and it was still a no to taking a few ingredients out of the fish tacos. Seems they are busy enough and can do without my future patronage. It's a big inflexible no from me. Was not a good experience.

    Table of 11, meals came out sporadically over a 45min period. Nobody got to eat at the same time. One meal needed to be sent back. Needed to ask twice for 2 kids meals and an adult meal to come out after 30 minutes waiting. Meals were enjoyable. Servers were very friendly and helpful.

    Unfortunately my experience was very bad that i will never come back. Just went there for the Gingerbread Christmas Decors. SERVICE WAS BAD. FOOD NOT GREAT. STAFF UNFRIENDLY. ORDERED A CAKE BUT NEVER CAME.

    Unfortunately the menu had changed in the days prior to our visit so the menu items were different to what we viewed online. I was looking forward to the pancakes but it no longer comes with anglaise but a small amount of Chantilly cream and date syrup. I felt this left the pancakes quite dry. We requested no pistachio nuts on one serving of pancakes (person not able to chew the pistachios) but it still came with them. One of my fellow dinners had the Eggs Benedict which was okay, the new mix of greens was quite tough due to the Kale. The drinks we had were all delicious, the mango smoothie was amazing. We saved the receipt to access the Christmas laneways but found that wasn't necessary as everyone and anyone was walking through them, not only the people who ate there.

    We unfortunately did not have a great experience. It was my husbands first time here. We came for the Santa photos which were great but the cafe was incredibly disappointing. The wait staff were not friendly and did not check in with us at all, our table had no cutlery or napkins, I had to go find someone and ask them to bring some for us and when she did she did not bring napkins and quickly walked away. I then had to go and find someone else to provide us with napkins. I needed a parents room to change my newborn and was told there was none so I had to change her in the pram in the eating area which was so disappointing. The food was cold and not fresh. There is so much potential for the grounds but unfortunately we will not be returning after the poor service, lack of understanding and poor quality food.

    Was brought glasses but no water until we asked The deconstructed ice mocha was bitter My iced long black had no ice in it We were given food but no cutlery Food was ok but the quality has definitely dropped since my previous visit a few years ago.

    We decided to go for brunch, but unfortunately, the place was extremely crowded and the music was playing so loudly that it was impossible to have a conversation. Additionally, we found the food to be quite underwhelming and the portion sizes were surprisingly small. It seemed like they were trying to fit too many things and tables into a limited space, which made the overall experience less enjoyable.

    We booked a table for breakfast. Due to the weather conditions we arrived 15 minutes late and our table was not yet ready on arrival. When ordering we started with drinks and asked for a couple of minutes to think about food. I had to then find someone 10 minutes later to take our order for food. Our drinks arrived and they were all wrong, however staff were happy to fix this up immediately. When I food arrived to the table one meal was missing as it was forgotten. The meals were delicious I just think service needs a little work.

    We were a family group, and for some it was the first time at the Grounds of Alexandria. Though very crowded, the service was great, giving us their attention and were prompt in all responses. The menu catered for us all and we enjoyed out meals - good sized serves, fresh and well presented. Thank you for making it a great time and we will be back.
