The Exchange Restaurant
Beautiful space and amazing food
Our waiter, Jacob, was exceptional. My friends birthday was a wonderful treat - the food was delicious.
Limited menu with little to no interest in the kitchen to accommodate special needs.
The way of cooking and preparing is in need of improvement. The music was much too loud, a conversation was only possible with effort
My third visit here, and it seems the quality control is slipping. It has been my favorite place in LA, but not anymore. First, music was about twice as loud than my previous visits, was told "this is how the owners like it" but later added that it's the staff's preference. Was there for a date, hoping to have a great conversation, was ready to leave when the manager later came up and apologized, turned down the volume and blamed the DJ...Food was went from being amazing to just good, not the same attention to detail and the portions that were always on the small side, shrunk even more. I mean, a side salad for $10 that is no more than 2-3 bites, come on... To the owners: watch out, you had a great concept, don't let it slip away. Consistency is everything.
Music WAAAY too loud. We asked several times to turn down the volume, which they did, but each time someone would turn it back up. I like a buzzy atmosphere but this was ridiculous. Dominated the entire evening, so hard even to remember anything else.
A good option for getting a good meal during business travel- tasty, excellent quality and not heavy
Fantastic food. Server was a little cold and unfriendly.
Delicious food and excellent service.
Overall experience was ok. However, we were there to celebrate a birthday, and I had noted that in my reservation, and I think it was either lost in translation or perhaps the servers just forgot.
Amazing food. We ordered everything to share family style and left the place full and happy. 7 of us and with drinks, appetizers and mains, was about $55 each without tops. Was quite reasonable considering it’s LA and this is top notch food
Skip the crudo and sashimi and go straight for the Israeli food is my recommendation
Went for lunch. Cool, casual spot with a modern, downtown vibe. Food was very tasty, and the service friendly/attentive. Nothing too stand-out about the place, but I could easily go again and again for a casual meal.
Loved every bit of it, from ambiance to decor to food to service. Great energetic vibe but with enough intimacy for private convos. Will definitely recommend to others.
Wonderful everything! Highly recommended, especially for fans of honey because they use it so well! The breakfast sandwich was delicious.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles and I have referred many an out of town friend etc. However, I don't see myself returning as it is simply TOO LOUD! The last few times I have eaten here the music was so loud as to prevent any normal conversation. It was also so oppressive as to be claustrophobic. I am being 100% sincere when I say I will not be going back to The Exchange again. It breaks my heart because I love the food.
We started with the Salatim platter which was excellent. Next we shared the branzino which was delicious - the best fish dish in recent memory.
We will be back!
Our waiter, Christian, was great too.
Amazing food- one of my go to places. You must always have hummus. For the fish the yellowtail collar is my favorite. There really aren’t any dishes I don’t like. Oh Tuna tartare is a must try!
Great experience. Loved it. Very LA. Wonderful service and food.
We came for my girlfriends birthday and the service was excellent, food was delicious and the manager let us into the roof bar after our dinner!
Loved the vibe - the waitress brought our wine for us to taste before deciding on a glass. They gave ya some bubbles to toast to our anniversary. The sweet potato is hands down the best dish there - get it! Also the labneh comes with some yummy tender lamb.
Great, imaginative meal. The uni was great as was the eggplant. The lamb was outstanding.
Great food and ambiance. Loved the bread with farmers cheese! Like a yummy croissant bowl!
Visited for lunch and was not busy at all. Service was great. Ordered the eggplant sandwich and tasted great. Would go back for sure
I had a lovely lunch at The Exchange. Just want to say - not as a criticism but just as an observation - that I'm finding more and more eateries giving their items a "kick" with one sort of spice or another. I guess "heat" is in right now. The Mama's Chicken Soup was a perfect balance. However, the chicken schnitzel sandwich could have cut back a bit. But that's just me. Since the menu doesn't comment on that in its description, it might not be a bad idea to just mention it to the potential consumer. Lastly, the service was attentive and most helpful.
I would recommend The Exchange if you want to go out late a night and be emerged into a fun environment. The DJ playing music on Saturday was on point. The food is good. However, this place is not conducive for conversation because of the noise level. There were times we could barely hear our server. Also they placed the 3 of us at a very "small" table. It was so ridiculous that I had to put our sparking water bottle on the corner of the booth are where we were seated just to make room for the food we ordered. The drinks were great and the food was good. Both desserts were delicious.
Fantastic unique food in a very cool atmosphere. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the burned eggplant and Salatine appetizers to the chicken kebabs and sea bass main courses. Yum!
This is easily a top 5 restaurant in LA for me in terms of food quality and price. Had an awesome time here.
Great downtown L.A. spot! Food was fantastic! Got a bit too loud to hear each other towards the end, but really fun atmosphere (so noise goes along w/ that at times!). Can't wait to go back.
Late night dinner was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. Very cool spot...ambience. Service was great. The true highlight was the food... If you are a foodie looking for a place to have dinner in downtown Los Angeles, The Exchange should be your choice.
It was ok. Definitely think it’s a tad overrated
Great food and service. Friendly and attentive staff.
Only for it's ambiance. Service takes too long! Our reservations were at 12, we were seated at 12:05 but our food took an hour to come out. The salad I had with yogurt was not the best. My daughter had the exchange burger and loved it. Now I remember why I hadn't been there in 2 years. Not going again any time soon. Cute place though.
Great food and very nicely decorated. Would return if given the chance.
Food was just ok, and so overpriced for what it was. Servers had to yell to be heard over the music and we spent the whole date night, yelling back and forth. Won’t go back
Always a fantastic experience, highly recommended
The hummus and baba ganoush were both delicious, the service was very thoughtful about listening to special requests and information about the food. But they shouldn't charge for the pita for the dips - at least on should be included. The burger was good quality.
Food is excellent, service is really good, nice ambience, and great decor.
Food was excellent but went for the fish and they buy had a 4lbs @ $30 per lbs...WTH. 2-3 LBS is fine but come on.
Great healthy food, good vibes, friendly staff, moderns and quirky!
The food is more Mexican than Israeli which is fine just not what I was looking for.
