Ivy and Jack Ratings and Reviews
Booked a table for Saturday morning. Asked when booking if want a high table said no.
Got to restaurant put on a high table so asked to move. I hate eating on a high table.
Coffee machine wasn't working well so they made us barista coffee which was nice.
Food was average. Good selection.
Friend had a pastry was so hard she couldn't eat it. Been sitting there way too long.
We went to pay and couldn't find any record of what we had so took a while to sort that out. Service was ordinary kept having to try and find someone. Not enough staff on. Lined up to pay then told oh no you don't pay here pay over there. It's just not clear.
Average value for money. We used entertainment book which made it good value.
Prob won't return for breakfast, but might try dinner.
There were 7 of us booked for dinner, 4 children. Really liked the atmosphere on arrival and the decor. Kids are free over school holidays from kids menu which wasn't bad for $10. Rest of us went with the $25 steak and schooner special. Empty plates all round. Took about 20 mins from when we ordered to get our food. Waitress, a Dublin girl was very attentive. We had a lovely time and would definitely return again.
The service by the staff was terrible. We waited 45 mins for someone to take our order for drinks & food. No staff came near us until I had to chase a staff member going into the kitchen, I told her where we sat & can we have water to start off. Still waiting 30 minutes later, until the next table had to tell us that we needed to go up & order & then we might get water.
We ordered cake & coffee later. 2 ladies ordered flat white coffees. When delivered the drinks came over cold. Still no staff around but because I had ordered different drink the barista came to our table. The girls advised about their cold drink, he advised that he thought they had wanted a cold coffee.
Terrible service mind u it was more of a pub than a restaurant the food was definitely not value for money the kids menu was ridiculously over priced for what we received even the waiters said they were embarrassed to serve such portions at the price wont be going back again
Went to Ivy and Jack as had heard that this is a new venue and thought I would give it a go.
Went to meet a friend for a catch up lunch.
Greeted and seated promptly. And given menus and explained how it works, need to order at bar.
Very quiet lunch, seemed more staff than customers.
Food came out promptly , ordered burger was ok, nothing special.
Ploughmans board dissapointing few small pieces of cheese, not enough bread , a lot of cold meats.
Wine list is very limited.
2 of the wines ordered were not available.
Also had tried to ring to make a booking the day before and phone was not answered on several attempts.
Would not recommend, there is a lot of options near by.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn for the Australia Day Skyshow, so we had dinner at Ivy and Jack. They phoned at about 5pm to say that their beer taps weren't working so there would only be bottled beer available. That was great service I thought. It was very busy for dinner so the service wasn't up to its usual high standard. Some customers were complaining about slow service. Ours wasn't too bad. The Australia Day menu was nice and great value. We all enjoyed our meals.
We were given a cosy booth whih had been pre-booked. The service was fine and the food was enjoyed by the three of us - a squid salad, a ceasar salad and a raw salad. We followed with a creme brulee, and two berry desserts and coffee for all.
When it became time to leave we thought we would divide the account and pay a third each. This seemed to be a complication and each of us were then told to pay individually.
We would go again.
I enjoyed a Christmas work lunch with five colleagues and we are planning on returning next year (and in between too). The food, drinks and particularly the service made our visit a delight. I could not fault anything about our time there, and Keith was an absolute perfect host. Take yourself there - you won't regret it!!
I love Ivy and Jack, I have been there 3 times now. The staff are always very friendly and the food is delicious. The only disappointing thing is the drinks are always really slow to reach our table. This has happened every time I have been, to the point where our food was out and I had to follow up with staff for our drinks the last two visits. If it was only once or twice, I could put it down to being short staffed behind the bar, but not for 3/3 visits. I would still go back, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a quick drink (or perhaps you could make your own trips to the bar for drinks instead of taking advantage of table service - I'm not sure if this is quicker).
The food was nice and an alright price when shared between everyone, however a male waiter was incredibly rude to our party. It was also incredibly loud and we were seated close to the bar which meant people kept spilling their drinks on us and knocking our chairs. Had to wait for ages for service at the counter to pay our bill.
There was a lovely band playing but we couldn't hear it over people talking. My food was warm whilst my husbands was cold in the middle, wondered if they microwaved it. There didn't seem to be enough staff for the venue or maybe just disorganised. The service was quite slow and we ordered dessert but didn't get to eat it as they took too long. I wouldn't go back.
