Delicious. Relaxed. Fun. Friendly. Efficient. Professional. Great atmosphere, food and wine.
Possibly the best food in Port Melbourne at the moment.
We had a wonderful dinner! Food was delicious and great services
Good quality Italian food , one of the better Italian Restaurants around Melbourne
All in all we had a great night and will be back
A lovely menu and outstanding service! We recently visited Ciao Cielo for a birthday celebration and although we all enjoyed our meal and were well looked after, it was very noisy and difficult to hold conversation. Despite the noise level, we will definately return and enjoyed the experience.
Ciao is never a let down; always delish experience! x
It was the first time we went and loved it
Fabulous food , fabulous service
Definitely coming back !!!
The gnochi very disappointing - it was soggy & had large chunks of pear which resembled canned pears. The rest of the food was average at best.
I heard about your restaurant on the Postcards TV show.
I was absolutely glad I made a dinner booking and had incredible food with great service.
Will go again for sure.
Poor service, cold and lack lustre wait staff. The experience was in no way inviting. Will not be returning.
Two small servings of spaghetti with crab and one glass of Prosecco – $90 Tasted good, but too pricey. Unlikely to return
A great evening at Ciao Cielo with friendly staff and a great menu :)
Great service and food and atmosphere. Can highly recommend
Great local restaurant in a lovely refit building.
Our meal was extremely good. The wait staff were top class. A truly top class venue. We will be back.
My Squidink linguine sauce was lacking seafood flavour, was a bit bland. Perhaps more clams would have improved the taste.
Pricing was way over the top the 300gm Porterhouse steak was A$52.00 and it only came with jus and mustard. The supposed Roasted duck fat potatoes, were pale white and greasy not a sign of any roasting, we asked for them to be cooked more to crisp them up and remove the greasy smear of duck fat. They did crisp them up, I suspect a quick dip in the deep fryer.
Calamari was well cooked.
My Goat Stew was ok, but just a stew dumped in a bowl, the polenta dumplings were excellent.
There are better options in Bay street, such as Dalmatino which is where I will be heading next time when in Port Melb.
Beautiful, tasty meal. Attention to detail. Beautifully presented, packed with fresh flavors. Staff friendly and attentive. Love the new building. We had such a lovely evening. Thank you
Great food, good service, alway enjoyable, special, romantic, good value and fun. Please just take the head rest off the new blue bench seat, as would be alot more comfortable. Thanks guys!
Food was outstanding, staff were lovely and the setting was good. Tables are a bit close together for my liking as you could hear everything the other diners were talking about. The waiters were really friendly and helpful. All the dishes we had were tasty and well presented. Would definitely recommend.
Dinner at the 'new' Ciao Cielo was a delight. The new venue is superb (and warm) and is matched by the food and the service.
Overall a good experience, bread serving was odd, a piece of thinly sliced which seemed like from an ordinary packet slice of bread - small thing but needs improving.
This was our first time in the new venue. Ambiance is great and the food was as good as ever.
Beautiful atmosphere, food was delicious, wine beautiful and our whole night was perfect.
Have been a customer for a while, and was the first visit to the new location... wow! The decor & ambience matched the, as always, delicious food. Thank you guys, impressed the pants off my guests 😁
Excellent new site for this well loved local restaurant. Looking forward to trying the new Pizza Pasta bar.
We loved the original restaurant vibe on Bay Street. Small, intimate, cosy, authentic Italian with white table cloths, comfortable seating, exceptional food and service. We were worried about the move to the new site on the corner of Graham street but loved the staff and food so we gave it a try for Mum's birthday.
Some of the original staff are still there and working hard, one of the new staff members who served us was fantastic, she knew the menu inside out and upside down. She described in great detail some of the items we needed help with and I'm delighted to report the food hasn't changed. Everything we ate and drank was the same fabulous quality.
The atmosphere was very different, it's loud! The tables are fairly close together, the table cloths have gone and the seats (in the middle of the restaurant) are not as comfortable but if you want an energetic vibe for a group of friends this is a good option.
Thank you Ciao Cielo, we'll be back.
Keep it up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The atmosphere is amazing and so welcoming and so are the staff. The food is also quite delicious
Tried it out for a quiet birthday date. Excellent food, very good service, enjoyable ambience in a lovely old building, quiet and conversation-friendly. We would definitely go back, and take special friends there.
Service was very bad, we were totally ignored when we arrived, I had to find the coat rack and hang my coat up, the maître d was in the way, she did not offer to take my coat and she didn’t move aside for me to get to the coat rack. She laughed and said “oh you were invisible there for a moment”.
Spanner crab spaghetti - the pasta was not fresh and the crab must have been waved over the top of the bowl. Gnocchi was a strange concoction of parsnip and apple, the apple was in huge chunks and looked like it was used as a filler to make the dish look for substantial. Only one of our group ordered dessert, the tiramisu was served from a larger bowl at the table, we couldn’t believe it when the waiter almost threw a huge spoonful onto the plate with a splatter - It was sickly sweet and the sponge had gone watery. One of our party was charged for 2 bottles of sparkling water despite only drinking 2 glasses.
A band set up and started playing half way through our lunch, conversation was impossible, the band were too loud for such a small venue. If I’d known about the band I would never have booked.
No tip for the appalling service, we definitely won’t be going back there again, there are too many other exceptional dining venues in Melbourne to bother with this place.
Beautiful dinner in this incredible building. Felt like I was sitting in an old European restaurant. Loved it.
Amazing venue and menu. Everything we ordered was so tasty and fresh. The cocktail list is impressive and we enjoyed our drinks. Dessert menu could be more varied to cater for dairy free or vegan guests. Ambiance and decor were stunning, and overall a perfect place aside from some waitstaff looking a bit overwhelmed or possibly was their first day.
Just amazing food and wine.
The atmosphere is both welcoming and comfortable.
Kate and the staff do an incredible job in making the place just work.
Great venue and the food was sensational. Still a little on the expensive side, particularly the wine, but is was very good.
Ciao Cielo makes undoubtedly great Italian food. Unfortunately that’s where it really ended for us.
The service was shockingly slow, taking almost 3 1/2 hours for a 3 course meal from when we sat down. Ordering cocktails was also a very slow experience indeed.
The venue looks fantastic, the interior visually also stunning. The major drawback being it was very noisy with so many tables being in a small space. It was an echo chamber. We had to physically move the tables to stand up. They really needed to remove 2 or 3 tables to improve the noise, service and access.
The food was delicious, well presented, and the wait staff were friendly and attentive when they were available.
Disappointing. Food was good but not great. Service was terrible. Renovation of this amazing building is disappointingly amateurish. Overall felt unprofessional.
Our table was late, which is bad when your only allowed a 6/6.30 or 8.30 booking - I don't want to be eating dinner after 9pm thanks.
W were seated in a small room at the back. To get to our table we were led 'behind' the main bar counter and over a taped down electrical cable running across the floor - couldn't easily get through the front of the bar because tables are too close together.
So we didn't get the ambience of the main room, were too hot next to the fireplace and one chair was on the end of the table, almost in a doorway constantly getting 'brushed past'.
The table layout was such that the waiter couldn't reach 2 out of 5 people, so we were constantly having to pass things to him. He got the dessert order wrong. There was some sort of cream under the ice-cream bowls which ended up on our table and never got cleaned. Clearing of dishes was abysmal.
Only go here if you're after neighbourhood quality Italian and don't mind poor service.
We always loved Ciao Cielo in its previous venue and the new venue is even better. Everything we love about Ciao Cielo is still there, wonderful food, good wines, great service, friendly and lovely atmosphere and the list goes on.
Brilliant food, gorgeous surrounds, one of those restaurants and local businesses you really want to support. Congratulations team!
Food was delicious, service was great . Was a lovely place to have a catch-up with friends and enjoy a few glasses of wine and amazing food for sharing.
